"The lounge suite and the bed were saggy and uncomfortable. We both rolled into the middle of the bed. An indistinguishable smell was emanating from the lounge suite. The whole cottage smelt like cooking oil. Upon further inspection we found droplets of fat clinging to the underside of the rangehood. The white cutlery drawer insert contained some sort of crumbs and a sticky coloured substance on it. We washed all the cutlery and the insert. It came up like new. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls in the bathroom. There are black marks around a fitting in the shower alcove (see photos). We stayed in cabin one which is an accessible cabin. Be aware it is very close to the main road, and it was noisy from about 6.30 a.m. The kitchen was well equipped to prepare meals. Overall, we were disappointed with the aged furniture and the condition of the property (but it looks like it has new carpet). We wouldn’t recommend the property."

"I can’t recommend this place enough. Such an awesome place to stay in Te Anau. The room was clean, spacious and great four our family of four. Two complimentary wine bottles on arrival were an awesome touch. Even had surround sound system set up for the living room area. We ended up watching several movies and even went below to the cinema and brought up some fresh popcorn. Showers were awesome with heated bathroom floors perfect after a cool day out on Milford sound. Perfect location next to several restaurants and grocery store. We stayed here two nights and honestly of all the places we stayed in New Zealand over the course of two weeks it was one of the best! Seriously can’t recommend this place enough."

"We set off from Queenstown to Milford Sound and stopped for a night in Te Anau. The hotel was beyond my expectations. It was a beautiful hotel by the lake. If I hadn't booked a fjord boat ticket the next day, I would have stayed a few more nights. I slowly felt the visual impact of the environment. It was also very close to the glowworm caves."
