A very nice stay. The host is very helpful. The room is as nice as the photo provided. Location is perfect, with the attraction entry gate a few steps away only. The view out from the window is perfect. Everything is just nice.

The room had so much character, you could tell the owner put a lot of thought into every detail. The service was also incredibly attentive; the owner tried their best to accommodate all our requests. Highly recommend! And since it wasn't peak season, the room rate was quite reasonable too.

What a pleasant surprise this stay was! The common areas are decorated in a chic and tasteful luxury style, with elegant greenery placed by the windows. The self-service water dispenser is clean and easy to use. Outside, the blue sky, white clouds, and lush green trees create a beautiful scene. The whole place is clean and quiet, and one young staff member was particularly enthusiastic and polite – definitely a five-star standard.

I got a complimentary room upgrade with a great view, which was much appreciated! The main reason for my trip was to catch the sunrise. I called ahead to ask about it—the front desk lady didn't know the exact direction of the sunrise off the top of her head, but she proactively asked around to find out for me. She was warm, helpful, and didn't brush off my questions at all, which was really nice. To watch the sunrise, I headed out around 5:00 AM towards the pier. I couldn't hail a cab, and walking would have taken about 40 minutes, so I wanted to bike there instead. I asked the front desk if they had bike rentals available; she patiently explained everything and even walked me over to check out the bikes—great service! At some hotels, staff wouldn't even be at the desk at that hour, so having attentive staff on duty made me feel very secure. However, I couldn't ride their bikes because they were step-over frames with top tubes, haha. In the end, I found a shared blue bike nearby. I borrowed some tissues from the front desk to wipe the morning dew off the saddle. Lucky enough, there happened to be one bike right outside! I pedaled as fast as I could—missed the blue hour, but thankfully caught the sunrise just in time. So grateful! As other reviewers noted, the breakfast selection was quite limited and didn't taste great. Honestly, having only one stir-fried vegetable dish caught me by surprise—even budget Huazhu hotels offer more variety than that. Luckily, I'm currently working out and on a strict diet, so I could still piece together a meal. The restaurant staff were polite and attentive, though. The coffee was really bad, and the machine looked a bit dirty; on top of that, it poured the cup so full that I couldn't carry it without spilling, so I had to ungracefully dump a bit into the drip tray. The toaster didn't toast thoroughly on the first run, and someone actually took my toast while I was waiting! That really annoyed me—I've stayed in plenty of hotels both at home and abroad, and I've never had someone snatch my toasted bread before. Not really the hotel's fault, of course, but still an unpleasant experience. The noodle station was comparatively much better. By chance, I also got to see fireworks in the evening, which was a wonderful surprise! If I visit Dianshan Lake again for the sunrise or sunset, I'd probably stay here again. I've already recommended it to friends with kids—it's quite family-friendly.

After staying two nights, we decided to stay one more night. We came by car and the hotel has its own parking lot which is completely free. The hotel is just outside the Zhaofeng Road Station of Shanghai Metro Line 11. You can take the subway eastward to various attractions in downtown Shanghai and directly to Disneyland. To the west, transfer to Suzhou Metro Line 11 at Huaqiao Station and go directly to various attractions in Suzhou. How convenient! The car can be parked for free at the hotel, which saves the inconvenience of driving and parking in the urban areas of Shanghai and Suzhou, and the parking fees in the urban areas are extremely expensive. Finally, I would like to say that this hotel is very cost-effective. You can stay for two or three nights here instead of one night in a hotel of the same level in Shanghai or Suzhou. In short, it's warm, convenient, clean and cost-effective. Next time I come to Shanghai or Suzhou, I will still stay here.

I took my high school kid here for a day off at the tail end of the holiday season. It was quick and convenient to get here from Shanghai. When I entered the hotel, I was told that the room type had been upgraded to a double bedroom, which was a real surprise. There were soft drinks and fruits in the room for us to enjoy, a huge sofa, and an exquisite little courtyard (the little snail had afternoon tea with us). It was so much fun to stay there for a day. There is also a granary that we can climb up in the hotel, as well as a Kunqu Opera art exhibition, and egrets by the lake. I especially want to mention the dinner in the hotel. Although it is a set meal, every dish is delicious. I look forward to coming again next time. It's great!

The hotel is clean and hygienic, the front desk service is attentive, the rooms are large and clean, the breakfast has a wide variety of options, both Chinese and Western, and the taste is good. The swimming pool is clean and hygienic, and my grandson especially likes it. In addition, the lunch buffet has a wide variety of options, which is both filling and delicious. At 28 yuan per person, it is great value for money. I will choose this hotel again next time.

It's not far from the entrance of the ancient town, and it's not far from the parking lot. It's just that the crossroads of the ancient town are not suitable for pushing boxes. It's very good to be able to book a room for four people at this price. The tatami is also quite large. We stayed with four adults and one child. It's just that the tatami bed was uncomfortable to sleep on. First of all, the bedsheets were not replaced with new ones, and there were hair from other people sleeping on them. Secondly, the mat underneath was only a rectangular piece, and most of it was exposed. Although the tatami itself can sleep three people, the mat was really useless. It was already very late when we got back to the B&B, and we didn't find the waiter. But next time, I will definitely not choose a hotel in the ancient town.

I arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.
