Inns in Hualien

Received email from hotel staff (Juan) that they could arrange pick-up service for us if we are arriving via Hualien Train Station. They provide free transfer back to Hualien train station as well after check-out. Grateful for the shuttle service otherwise I would need to take a taxi. By going the extra mile, they offered to send my mom and myself to the bus stop nearby for going to xincheng old street. Every staff member is friendly and very helpful. Seaview room is excellent and we enjoyed the sound of the waves from our bed! Room is clean and brightly illuminated. Breakfast variety is good. They have bicycle for hotel guests too! There’s a convenience store (Family Mart) nearby, few restaurants too, but closed on Tuesday mostly. Overall I had a great stay and will definitely return if I come to Hualien again.

One of the better (if not the best) hotel chains I’ve stayed at in Taiwan. I’ve visited Taiwan about 10 times and stayed here for 2 nights, and overall I was very satisfied with the experience. They provide free bicycles (3 hours limit), which is useful for getting around Hualien. Breakfast has a good spread, and there are complimentary ice cream and drinks available in the lobby around the clock. We didn’t realise they also offer late-night supper from 7pm to 9pm, which was honestly as good as a proper dinner buffet, with a good mix of Western and Chinese dishes and even live entertainment. The room was spacious and well maintained, with no hygiene concerns. Shower water pressure was good. Noise levels were generally fine, though louder sounds like furniture movement could occasionally be heard. The hotel is conveniently located near a convenience store, restaurants, KTV, and a cinema, and it’s about a 10-minute walk from the station. You can also cycle to the night market within 15 minutes, making it super easy to get around the main area without getting a taxi. Overall, a very good stay and very good value for money. While a gym would be nice, I would definitely consider staying at other branches on future trips.

This hostel is super easy to get to and very centrally located. The beds were really comfortable too. Even though our room had its own bathroom, there was also another shared bathroom available for everyone down the hall. The locker was big enough for my entire backpack. There was also a water dispenser on every floor. The interior design was lovely, and I particularly liked the paintings on each floor. There was also a kitchen available if you wanted to prepare something, but breakfast was provided anyway.

My stay here last year was great, so I decided to come back for my round-the-island trip this year. When checking in, I asked the front desk about motorcycle parking. The staff member, whose name tag said 'Intern,' told me I could park anywhere on the white lines along the road next to the hotel. I then asked if the parking lot across the street, where I parked last year, was still an option. A man and a woman next to the counter said that was for cars and heavy motorcycles (even though I wasn't riding a heavy motorcycle last year either). I said 'okay' and went to look for white lines on the road next to the hotel (as shown in the photo). Turns out, the road had just been repaved and there were no markings at all. If you expect us to find our own parking, you should at least clarify that the road markings are gone. I'm not a local, so how would I know what markings used to be there? And the full-time staff member next to the intern also just replied, as if it wasn't their problem, 'You can park on the white lines nearby.' Where exactly are these 'nearby white lines'? Anyway, the breakfast was good. If you're on a budget, I highly recommend this place.

Island Tour (Hualien), stay in a deluxe sea view double room, 4 rooms on the first floor, the room is very large, the balcony looks out to Hualien Port, you can see the sea and the ship loading and unloading goods and entering and exiting the port, it is great, the service staff are also very good Great, friendly to road bikes. There is a dedicated area and gym for road bikes on the second floor. The breakfast is okay. The small drawback is that the partition wall of the bathing area in the room is small, and water easily splashes into the sleeping area. The water dispenser uses a large bucket of spring water to heat and drink ( Not good for babies and children), I hope filtered drinking water can be improved and the opportunity will be better.

The perfect ocean view offers unobstructed panoramic sunrises and absolutely stunning distant mountain scenery. It's roughly a 15-minute drive to Dongdamen Night Market in the city center. Perhaps because it wasn't a weekend or public holiday, the night market stalls were a bit sparse. However, there are also some great BBQ and snack options along the beach, which are definitely worth a visit. I had a wonderful time! 🥳

It is located right next to Hualien Train Station, but it is the West Exit instead of the Main Exit. You need to walk pass a pedestrian bridge located inside Hualien Station to get to this exit. The hotel itself is very clean and cozy. It has quite a few convenient stores nearby, and it also provides free snacks and fruit for customers. One thing to take note is, the hotel door is not a magnetic lock, instead it is a conventional key lock. So don’t expect the door to lock by itself when you go out. But this might sometimes be a plus point because you don’t need to be worried about the situation where you being locked outside and forgot to bring your room key.

Overall a good experience (except one thing - see in the bottom). The location is somewhat central and on the walking promenade, but not very close to the railway station or the waterfront. About 25-35 min walk to the railway station but still okay. About 15 min to the waterfront. Food options: there are a couple of local restaurants right near across from the promenade, including a noodle shop, a tempura donburi and a fried seafood place - all along the promenade. There's also a PX Mart not too far away, about 5 min walk. The rooms are spacious and clean, very new renovation (as of 2025, seems like 2023-2024), no fridge in the room (on the first floor only), but there's a kettle. The bed was somewhat stiff but okay. Overall felt like great value for the location and the quality, and especially the room size. The only drawback - Easy to fix - was the towels. There was no proper size bathroom towels on my stay in May 2025. The small towels are rather insuficcient for showering.

Best value and reasonable price for budget travelers. -Location Easy access by bus 301 (every hour) from the station, otherwise Taxi would the best option ($140). Many restaurants, department store, supermarket, laundromat, convenience stores, cultural and creative industrial park and so on. -Room Spacious, old bathroom but partly updated room. Cleaning service was provided everyday if needed. NO bottled water provided, however, they have a goods section which you can purchase bottled water, lazar, toothbrushes etc for only NTD5. Bed was nice and firm, comfortable:) -Staff Very kind and friendly, both staff I spoke to could communicate in English and a bit of Japanese. Reception closes at night so you need to use your card key to get back into a hotel. Overall 4 star, would love to stay here again if I ever go back to Hualien.

It's very close to the night market. You can also have breakfast. The room and toilet are large and very comfortable.
