"Stayed at Suimekan Gero Onsen and had a wonderful experience. The staff, especially Adajisan, was incredibly kind, helpful, and gave great recommendations. Gero Station is located approximately 1km away from this hotel. Keeping busy is easy, with Onsen-ji Temple, Sachinoyu and 日本三名泉発祥の地碑 all nearby. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. This Gero hotel features parking on site. Our guests consider this hotel to have excellent service. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"My friends and I were looking for an affordable onsen hotel, which is why we chose Gero Yamagataya Onsen Hotel. First, let's talk about the pros: the price is quite reasonable for an onsen hotel, and the rooms are clean and tidy. Now for the cons: the service is a far cry from what you'd expect at a traditional Japanese onsen hotel. When we arrived at Gero Station, we saw staff from Suimeikan and Yunoshimakan holding signs to pick up guests, but after searching everywhere, there was no one from Yamagataya. We ended up waiting for 10-20 minutes and had to take a taxi to the hotel. Although it wasn't far, we didn't have to pay the taxi fare as the hotel covered it upon arrival. However, no one at the hotel entrance offered to help us with our luggage. Furthermore, the breakfast and dinner were the worst I've ever had at an onsen hotel in Japan. Breakfast felt like a staff cafeteria, with no milk or coffee even. I really regret not choosing Suimeikan or Yunoshimakan Onsen Hotel instead."

"The service was excellent, however, the hotel breakfast was quite mediocre. The price is reasonable for Gero, and it's conveniently located very close to the JR station. Overall, it's an excellent value-for-money option, and the open-air bath was also very pleasant."

"It is a sister hotel with Fugaku next door. Before we even got to the door, the old man of the hotel came over to confirm whether we were staying. The names of the people matched. When we left, the old man was waiting for us at the door very early. When we went out for a walk, he also thoughtfully prepared a map for us. The service of the older generation of Japanese is really amazing. There is a special room for breakfast and dinner, which tastes good. There is a private bath in the room. Open the window to the outdoor private bath. Hehe, there are several hot springs upstairs and downstairs. My wife took a bath three times a day and soaked in all the hot springs. Gero is not big, so it is suitable for a leisurely stroll for half a day, eating some snacks, returning to the hotel to taste food, watch the snow, and take a bath."

"Experienced the best satisfaction at a ryokan and not expensive price. The building is old and old, but it was well maintained and clean, and unlike the appearance, the interior was quite spacious. The owner's family were very friendly and provided the best service and meals. The hot springs are small too, but the water is very good, clean. It's a place I definitely want to visit again later. Thank you! :)"

"Gero Hongyekan Wanboting is really great! In Japan's three famous springs, Geroizumi, the service is very good. There is an open-air bath on the roof of a sister hotel, and there is a car to pick up and drop off at any time from 9 to 12 in the evening, which is very convenient. The water quality is so good, the sun that soaks up the skin will slide down when it falls on it. A wonderful hotel experience! The beauty at the front desk drove me out to buy urgently needed products when I was in an emergency. Every detail was great. The Japanese-style room was also spacious. I really like this place. I will definitely go again if I have a chance, and I will definitely stay here again. hotel. Breakfast is included, and the environment and ceremony are very beautiful! The hotel itself has indoor and outdoor hot springs. When it snows, get up early in the morning to soak in that outdoor hot spring, which is quiet and beautiful! Its sister pavilion has a very strange inclined elevator, and the hot spring water is the smoothest I have ever soaked in."

"The shaking of the elevator 🛗 spills the cup of coffee. I felt very dangerous. Welcome drinks were very good. The service of Oden 🍢 and Ramen 🍜 is the best. The private open-air bath was not good, but the underground bath was good. For dinner, grilled meat on a pottery plate 🥩 Hobamiso is delicious. Free alcohol drinks were also good. The water splitting of the sub-flowing water in Hida was the most fun. At breakfast, Orange 🍊 was very sweet and delicious. I wish I had ice cream. In terms of price, I will give you a passing score. In addition, please provide customer service. I would like to use it again. Fireworks 🎇 also looked a little!"

"The view is awesome. So peaceful and earthy. Located on the hill, so it would be hard to walk to the ryokan with luggage, I guess. The public bath was spacious, which was great. Kaiseki dinner was so good! I've had them before at different ryokans, but this one is the best. And the server lady explained everything in English which was also a plus. It was very tasty. Breakfast was good, too. It got a bit loud from other rooms, which I expected as staying in an old building. Also, pretty cold at night (in early December), only the main room with a heater was warm. Still, it was a memorable stay in a good way."

GGuest UserIt’s a small Onsen with few rooms but that made our stay more relaxing and comfortable. Attentive services with an eagerness to explain everything to you despite the language barrier. The outdoor private Onsen was a plus that we enjoyed very much. The downside was the aged room and toilet we got. However, this was compensated by the food that was absolutely fantastic and unsuspectly filling 😋

GGuest UserLovely onsen ryokan. Staff don’t really speak English so there’s a bit of trying to figure things out for yourself.  Nevertheless, service was friendly and helpful as best they could.  The outdoor onsen is really relaxing and because it’s not a crowded hotel, both times I went I had it to myself as did my wife and kids in the ladies area.  We picked the room with its own outdoor onsen tub which is a great option if you don’t want to use the non-private ones.  You can apparently book private onsens but they did not have any available for us (possibly because we arrived slightly late in the day).  Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast.  Kids couldn’t;’quite enjoy the onsens cause they found the water too hot so you may want to make sure your kids can before you decided to splurge.  One final point, the ryokan is located down a tiny road on the right just before Google Maps tells you that you have reached.

설렝I chose this hotel to relax after trekking with a friend, and it made for a perfect trip! I was worried about getting around because it seemed remote, but they provided pick-up and drop-off service, so it wasn't a problem at all. The food was delicious, the room was spacious, and the hot springs were wonderful. The staff were also very friendly, which I appreciated.

GGuest UserThe hotel is close to the river, a little distance from the Gerv Hot Spring Street, the gate is closed at 6 pm, it is not convenient to enter the door, the dinner is actually Western food, not very delicious, the double room is a 150 bed, friends travel is not convenient, 2000+ room rate is not recommended to live here, hot springs are OK, It is the most cost-effective hotel on this trip to Japan.

MMiu Yin WongWhat a satisfying trip! The duplex room had a living room on the lower level and a bedroom, bathroom, and open-air bath on the upper level, fulfilling my long-held dream of staying in a duplex. The hotel was huge, with public baths on the 2nd and 8th floors respectively. Both were large and very comfortable to soak in, but the open-air bath in the room was even more convenient and relaxing, especially in the morning while enjoying the view – a wonderful experience. The room was fully equipped. Dinner was arranged at the Western restaurant, and my husband said the sound system there was incredibly expensive. Breakfast was a buffet, mainly Japanese-style, which didn't quite suit our tastes.

TTsiruotThis hot spring hotel is mostly occupied by Japanese people and there are very few foreign tourists. Everything is better than expected, and the package with two meals is very cost-effective. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very large and old but very clean. The hot spring pool has indoor and outdoor areas. When I went to soak in the outdoor area at 4 pm on the first day, I was the only one there and the environment was very good. When checking in, the front desk will let you choose the dining time. The buffet is divided into three time periods. I chose the earliest time period. It was basically full every time, and there were a lot of delicious food. According to the comments, there is a free shuttle every half an hour, but in fact, the shuttle needs to be booked in advance and is not free. I walked to the hotel because I didn't wait for the shuttle. People with a lot of luggage are advised to take a taxi or leave the large luggage at the station because the second half of the walk to the hotel is uphill and it is tiring to drag the suitcase.

GGuest UserAn average quality onsen hotel in Gero. Not the best type but also better than many. It is a matter of one's choice in spending more money for better choices or not, as the price range in Gero can be 100% difference for the best and those with much lower price. All onsen are old in the hardware facilities, but traditional.

DDonovan_lIt was a comfortable, family-run Ryokan style inn. There is free parking for those who drive. It is also walking distance from the train station. We arrived after dark and the staff told us there was no more dinner, so they recommended us a dinner place nearby. For breakfast which was included, it was a full set and really delicious Japanese platter. We ate to our heart’s content. The onsen is located on the basement and the 4th floor, I like it specially for the rooftop onsen. The men and women onsen will swap at certain timings to allow each gender to enjoy the facilities at the rooftop. They give clear instructions on a piece of paper, and you just need to look at the colour of the cloth hanging outside the onsen. The hotel is located near the town centre, so you can walk around easily.

CCHI WAIThe hotel is located on Mt. Gero, and you have to take the hotel shuttle bus to get there. However, because the hotel is in the mountains, you can overlook the scenery of Gero. The hotel does not have many hot spring facilities, but the hotel's brunch is very rich, which is similar to other hotels in Oedo Onsen Monogatari.
