"Granbell was a great hotel which is proven to be a very popular spot of tourists from several countries, mainly Russia, Germany, France, UK, Australia, China, Korea, and Japan. The hotel itself had great amenities, view, and food. I would definitely recommend friends to this hotel to friends and family. Hotel ammenities itself were amazing overall. The rooftop bar, spa, gym, pool, and others were all of great quality.
The location of the hotel was well placed in the city but the immediate surroundings of the hotel were mostly rundown buildings and a loud train stop. It is hard to say that the location was good to walk around but with tuk tuks easily available things were fine during our trip.
Areas of improvement and negative aspects are that our room did not have a cupboard or iron which made things a bit difficult and we suspected the bathroom sink to have a minor leak which made the whole bathroom floor wet but was hard to tell. Lastly, all the staff were very nice and helpful except for the concierge team. I can’t say all but most were not helpful as they never opened the door for me, refused to help me translate to an uber and tuk driver when I needed help, and generally seemed uninterested to help guests unless really required to. It was more a minor nuisance so I didn’t make any fuss about it.
All things considered we were mostly happy with the hotel."

__M1381878****The hotel is a bit old, and the facilities in the rooms are showing their age. We arrived around 8 PM on the first day, and there was only one person at the front desk. This staff member was incredibly unfriendly. We had booked three rooms, all for two adults and one child, and asked for two key cards for each. She actually lied, saying there was another card already in the room. Secondly, when checking in, we offered our credit card for a pre-authorization, but she said it wasn't needed. This meant that all subsequent room service had to be paid in cash, which was extremely inconvenient. I suspect this front desk staff member on the night shift either has psychological issues or was intentionally messing with Chinese guests. Shangri-La was founded by Chinese people, so why was this happening? The next day, we cautiously asked the front desk for a second key card, and it was given to us easily. The service quality is inconsistent, with some good and some bad experiences, but most of the staff are friendly.

CCJ12A beautiful building in a very pleasant area of Colombo; the architecture and interior design of the hotel are a joy to behold and the vast majority of staff are polite and courteous. Plenty of amenities nearby to suit all tastes and interests. The breakfasts were great both mornings (both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the Western style), and they really lived up to the high expectations we’d had from the Instagram marketing we’d seen.
We were upgraded to the North West Suite, which was a larger room, for which we were greatly appreciative; a couple of issues with working plugs and appliances (coffee machine and hair dryer) were reported and rectified, although the wiring/plugs more broadly were temperamental and poorly placed (as expected, possibly, with the charm of an older hotel). However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the bathroom was well appointed.
Our only qualm was with the overzealous Head of Housekeeping, who seemed to not grasp the subtlety required for such a role, or the privacy with which guests might like to enjoy the beautiful hotel. It appeared that he lingered all too often in search of a tip, and didn’t quite appreciate the boundaries one might desire when paying a reasonable fee for each night. My wife and I took to speedily locking the door and placing the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the handle to keep his incessant interrupting to a minimum. His deputy was, however, an asset to the hotel, who seemed to comprehend the subtle art of providing high quality service for a luxury stay in a lovely hotel.
All-in-all, a great choice for a hotel in the heart of Colombo, and hopefully, during a busier season, the aforementioned Head of Housekeeping might spread his overbearing attention across the many rooms of the hotel.

The hotel is beautifully maintained, with modern facilities and a peaceful atmosphere that made my stay truly relaxing. The food was delicious and offered a great variety of choices.

Despite a very good start which involved a very helpful early check-in for our group of four travelers (two rooms) and lots of friendly smiles from the hotel reception team, unfortunately our stay took a bit of a negative turn owing to some confusion over two additional bookings we had made to extend our stay following a change in our plans. I really find it hard to understand why this simple process caused confusion to the duty manager. The following day, despite clearly explaining that we had made additional bookings to extend our stay, the desk staff were confused and claimed that one of the room bookings was not confirmed. The duty manager was dismissive to us and actually ignored us, (even though he had perfectly good English to communicate with us), preferring to speak through another member of the reception team who was standing right next to him. After a wait of at least 15 minutes, I told him that we were not prepared to wait any longer and that he could let us know once the issue had been resolved. This was clearly an administrative problem between the hotel and Trip.com which soured our stay. The duty manager was unprofessional and discourteous towards his guests.
Our experience left us unwilling to use any of the hotel facilities other than the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff team exceptional in their service and friendliness. We did use the lounge bar on one occasion and again, found the staff to be friendly and helpful - special mention to Jerushan, with whom we enjoyed a great conversation. He is a credit to the staff team. Perhaps given his people skills, he should be made a manager?!
Other than the reception area, the hotel is very tired and in desperate need of an upgrade. In our room, a light switch cover fell off, some bulbs were not working and the room was dirty - a build up of dust in the corners and on the wardrobe louvres which quite obviously suggested the rooms were only being given a superficial clean.
As said, we do not recommend this hotel and we will not stay here again. We expect far from a Ramada branded establishment.

HHussain NafizI recently stayed at Anarva Hotel and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to ensure I felt welcome and comfortable. The rooms were modern, spacious, and impeccably clean, with beautiful decor that added to the relaxing atmosphere. The amenities, especially the spa and pool area, were top-notch, providing the perfect place to unwind.
The hotel’s location was ideal, offering easy access to nearby attractions, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. I also have to mention the dining experience—delicious food with a great variety of local and international options. Every meal was a treat!
Overall, Anarva Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay. I will definitely be returning on my next visit!

GGuest UserMust praise👍👍👍Since we booked late, we arrived at almost 11pm. When we went to the front desk to register, they were able to accurately report our names. I felt very happy. Hayao Miyazaki was at the door of the hotel. The track of the small train, and facing the sea.
We originally booked two double rooms, and then the hotel upgraded us to a room. My room happened to have a very large floor-to-ceiling window, and when I opened the curtains, I could see the sea. It was really perfect. A little further ahead of the hotel is the train station, which is OK Take a small train. A little further on the small train, there is a beach🏖️. We discovered it accidentally and also encountered a perfect sunset🌇. In short, it was really a great experience. It is a city that I still want to go to. I will Come again and look forward to seeing you next time!

TTaya DotsThe hotel was probably once gorgeous, now it's just not bad. The furniture is old, the walls are shabby, some things (like switches) could be wiped more thoroughly. But overall the impressions were positive. The breakfasts are hearty, the bed and bed are comfortable, the pool is simply gorgeous. True, on weekends locals come to swim, for an additional price. And on weekdays it is quiet and calm, you can wait a very long time for your drink from the employee. There is a railway next to the hotel, trains run all day, you won't get much sleep during the day, but at night there are no trains, nothing will interfere with your sleep.
