Shiquan Street/Pan Gate Scenic Area Suzhou|3.16km from city centre
I chose this hotel based on reviews from Trip.com users, and it really didn't disappoint. It truly feels like a royal palace garden hotel, and best of all, the price is incredibly reasonable. You can stay in such a beautiful place for just a few hundred yuan a night! Plus, you get free access to the Panmen Scenic Area next door, and the night view there is so stunning it feels otherworldly. We were even lucky enough to catch a 'datihua' (iron flower) performance, which was absolutely amazing. And their buffet breakfast is fantastic, really extensive, and only 68 RMB per person – such a great deal!FromHK$394

Staying at the Shangri-La Suzhou on Shishan Road, Number 168, was the most delightful surprise of my leisurely trip to Suzhou, perfectly embodying the relaxed charm of Jiangnan. Tucked away in the bustling Shishan area, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat. It's a short walk to Saoshan Park and a quick drive to Jinji Lake. During the day, you can admire the shimmering waters of Jinji Lake, and by night, enjoy the glittering lights along its shores – a perfect blend of Suzhou's classic and modern beauty unlocked with ease. The hotel's decor seamlessly blends Jiangnan elegance with modern luxury. The crystal chandelier in the lobby creates a fantastic ambiance, and the public areas feature garden-like landscaping, making it very photogenic. The high-floor rooms offer exceptional views; by day, you see the sprawling city, and at night, the twinkling city lights fill your gaze. The room furnishings are warm and elegant, and the amenities are high-quality. The turndown service thoughtfully provides eye masks and bottled water, with heartwarming details at every turn. The Squirrel Fish and Suzhou-style Huaiyang dishes at the Shang Palace Chinese restaurant are authentic and delicious. The all-day breakfast offers a mix of Western and Chinese options, with freshly made noodles that are incredibly flavorful. In my free time, I enjoyed the heated pool and the gym. It's also incredibly convenient to get to Pingjiang Road, Shantang Street, and Jinji Lake. The service throughout was attentive and discreet – never intrusive but always available when needed. Choosing this hotel for a stay in Suzhou allows you to enjoy quiet comfort while easily accessing major attractions like Jinji Lake. The vacation experience was simply impeccable.FromHK$518

Guanqian Street/Pingjiang Street Suzhou|4km from city centre
Without a doubt, this is the worst five-star hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms and facilities are old and run-down. Everything from the walls to the elevators and the room fixtures was filthy. The weirdest thing is there's no proper shower in the room, just a bathtub. If you want to shower, you have to stand inside the tub and use a handheld sprayer. On top of that, the water temperature was impossible to adjust – it kept switching between freezing cold and scalding hot. For a room like this, costing 489 yuan a night, it should really be around 200 yuan. Even though it's an older hotel from 2012, I didn't expect a chain brand to be this bad. The staff's attitude was good, and both the Chinese restaurant and breakfast selection were quite varied. I originally wanted to give a terrible review, but since I booked it myself, I decided not to be too harsh.FromHK$379

This hotel is incredibly close to Jinji Lake and Suzhou Center Plaza, and the transportation is super convenient—it's just a hundred-meter walk from the subway station. The breakfast spread is great, and the rooms are spacious. Last time I stayed in the city center, but choosing a hotel by Jinji Lake this time was an excellent decision. You can take the subway directly to Mudu Ancient Town, Tongli Ancient Town, and the Benshe Market. When you don't have a car, being close to the subway and having easy access to transportation is absolutely crucial. If you want to catch the musical fountain, make sure to go on a Friday or Saturday, as it doesn't run on weekdays.FromHK$602

Came to Suzhou for a concert during the May Day holiday and brought the kids and my parents along for a trip. The hotel is just a few steps from the subway station. You need to transfer to get to the Olympic Sports Center, but it's very convenient, only about three stops in total. The three-bedroom suite we booked this time was perfect for a large family like ours. It also has three bathrooms and a large double-door refrigerator. However, someone had put durian in the fridge before, and it smelled awful, making it unusable for us. I hope the hotel can do a better job with cleaning and deodorizing! There's an oven, microwave, and induction hob, but no pots or pans were provided. Does that mean they expect guests to cook or not? We didn't need to cook, but it just felt a bit confusing. There are restaurants and convenience stores right across from the hotel.FromHK$686

It was a holiday, so it was quite crowded. We stayed at a hotel by Tongli Lake. The breakfast was plentiful, with a wide variety of porridge options. The restaurant on the second floor also served local specialties. The rooms weren't large, but they were comfortable. There was also a health and wellness building where they introduced us to a moxibustion device. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Most importantly, the hotel had friendly cats and parrots. If the weather is nice and you want to explore the surrounding area, you can visit the ancient town and wetland park. Overall, the hotel is quite nice and worth staying at.FromHK$411

I chose the InterContinental for my weekend trip to Suzhou. The exterior looks a bit dated, but the interior is well-maintained. After inquiring, they upgraded my room to one with an Oriental Arc view. The room was spacious and well-equipped. The night view from the bar was beautiful, and the breakfast selection was extensive. Overall, I was quite satisfied! The only minor annoyance was receiving multiple calls and even texts for a post-checkout survey, which felt a bit intrusive.FromHK$779

I originally booked a Classic Room package. The front desk staff suggested upgrading to a Balcony Room, which is 30 square meters larger, for an additional 500 RMB. I took their advice, and after comparing, I think it was worth it because not only did I get more space, but also a large balcony and double breakfast. The room was high-ceilinged and cool, the air conditioning was comfortable, and the mattress was very pleasant. There were many books in the room to browse. The bathroom had a double vanity, but I was a little disappointed that not every sink had both hand soap and lotion. The left sink had hand soap, and the right one had lotion. So, if you wanted to wash your hands, you went to the left sink, and then to the right sink for lotion after washing. The two sinks were quite far apart with a large bathtub in the middle. I hope the hotel can be a bit more generous and provide both items at each sink, which would be much more convenient. From the moment I entered the hotel, the service felt like I was entering my own home. There were complimentary snacks, and the tea served was also good. All the staff greeted me with proactive smiles. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but everything was high quality, though there's room for improvement with the Western pastries. This trip, I specifically went for the noodles at Su Mian Fang. The service and taste were absolutely incredible, though the price was a bit on the high side. I wanted to eat them again. I'm not sure if it's because I rarely eat Su noodles and am therefore less knowledgeable, or if they truly are considered a delicacy among Suzhou noodles. Additionally, the hotel's environment is very Suzhou-like, and it's located by the lake in front of the Gate of the Orient.FromHK$781

Pros:
The building's cruise ship-like design is highly distinctive and unique. Located right next to Jinji Lake, the entire building lights up at night, creating an absolutely stunning view when combined with the lake and the city's nightscape across the water. Evening strolls around the lake offer fantastic photo opportunities.
The frontline staff are excellent. The doorman actively helped with luggage, and the front desk reception was warm and courteous, responding quickly to any questions.
Cons:
The family room was cramped, seemingly converted from a standard twin room. Due to the hotel's curved cruise ship architectural structure, the overall space was on the smaller side. After placing the beds and children's toys, the activity area felt very crowded. The attention to detail was lacking; there was no step stool for children in the bathroom, which is a noticeable shortcoming compared to similarly priced family-friendly hotels.
The hotel has been open for some years, and the facilities are showing some age; the carpets in the public areas had noticeable stains, which was unsightly.
During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the swimming pool was extremely crowded. Coupled with the pool's age and small size, swimming felt very cramped. I recommend avoiding peak times if you plan to use it.FromHK$754

My stay at the Hyatt Regency Suzhou far exceeded my expectations. The Executive Lounge, located on the 28th floor, offers spectacular views of Jinji Lake and the 'Big Trousers' (Suzhou IFS) while you enjoy delicious food.
The service from the Executive Lounge team, especially Sheila, Delia, Keets, Chisa, and Vivian, was truly remarkable. They were all incredibly polite, warm, and attentive, going above and beyond to meet guests' needs without any hesitation. A thoughtful detail was the Executive Lounge's reception desk being discreetly placed in the corridor, which effectively prevented noise when it was busy – a testament to their meticulous planning.
Dining was also excellent. The hot food selection was good and varied, and dishes were replenished promptly. While the breakfast spread wasn't the largest, the tranquil environment and superb views more than made up for it.
The Hyatt Regency Suzhou boasts a prime location, directly above Times Square subway station. Popular landmarks like Eslite Bookstore and Jinji Lake are all within walking distance. Whether for business or leisure, the Executive Lounge experience made me feel right at home. Highly recommended!FromHK$836

Pretty good! The location is excellent, very close to Changmen Gate, and Shantang Street is right nearby! The hotel is situated in a garden at the end of a side street off Xizhongshi, making it a small, garden-style hotel.
While the room furniture isn't brand new, the hygiene is good. They even provide individually sealed disposable cups! The room isn't too small either, and they upgraded us to a garden view room, so the view from the window was lovely.
The breakfast selection isn't huge, but it's sufficient. I especially loved the freshly made mini wontons – they had plenty of filling and a delicious, flavorful broth!
For those primarily visiting Shantang Street, you can book this hotel with confidence. It's about 1km from Shishi subway station, making it very convenient for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. It offers a peaceful retreat in a bustling area, and the value for money is excellent! (✷‿✷)FromHK$272

Taihu Lake/ Eastern Mountain/ Western Mountain Suzhou|24.48km from city centre
The ambiance is wonderfully peaceful, far from the hustle and bustle, making it a perfect spot to unwind and clear your mind. While the resort isn't overly large, simply enjoying the lake views and taking leisurely strolls each day was incredibly pleasant. The only downside was the intense heat during our stay, which limited our ability to explore for extended periods.
**Cleanliness:** Everything was spotlessly clean. The pool water was also meticulously maintained, seemingly refreshed with each new booking, which was impressive.
**Facilities:** We stayed in a 2-bedroom unit. The layout of the upstairs bedroom felt more practical and well-designed. Downstairs, however, the bathroom lacked a separate wet and dry area, making the room quite humid after a shower, although thankfully a dehumidifier was provided. The tatami mat in the lounge area was very spacious, large enough to comfortably sleep two additional people.
**Service:** The service was excellent and very responsive. Our room was promptly serviced on the second day. A special thank you to our butler, Adrian!
**Minor Drawback:** The only slight drawback was perhaps the dining options. After trying two meals, we'd recommend sticking to the Western menu, as the Chinese food, in particular, offered quite poor value for money.FromHK$1,918

The hotel was located at the lake with an amazing view. The rooms was really nice and super clean and the mattress was really comfortable to sleep very well. The facility of the hotel was nice and very stylish, all in white and modern. The hotel was really lovely. The only thing that is really not good organised, there is no food except breakfast and afternoon tea (in that case fruits). We needed to order from a delivery service (only Chinese food available and it's was not really good). Wujiang Suchow Bay Scenic region Suzhou|19.82km from city centre
The hotel is great, thumbs up! The room is very spacious, and the bathroom is huge and comfortable. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the lake-view room offer absolutely fantastic views of Taihu Lake. I read some reviews mentioning slow check-in, and indeed, when we arrived around 2 PM, there was a queue at the front desk. I'm not sure why, but the check-in process was quite slow. As an InterContinental member, our room received complimentary fruit, snacks, and sparkling water. However, my parents' room, which they checked into with us, didn't receive anything. When I asked, I was told it was because they weren't InterContinental members. While I understand the policy, this kind of differential treatment really doesn't feel good. 🤔 For elderly guests, the mattress is a bit too soft and not ideal for their backs. I'd also suggest placing a foldable chair in the shower area to make it easier for seniors to sit while showering. Overall, the hotel is quite good, but there's definitely room for improvement in terms of service.FromHK$701

A clean and affordable hot spring hotel with few guests. The service attitude was genuinely excellent – friendly, attentive, and patient. The hot springs were also good; the key is that there weren't many people, making for a very relaxing soak. Soaking in the winter is truly comfortable. We were warm and toasty, and it wasn't cold at all walking back from the outdoor pools.
The breakfast was abundant with plenty of choices.
However, a few complaints: The family room was advertised to have a sofa bed, but it was very small, only suitable for a child. Once unfolded, half was a hardboard and half a soft cushion, making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. The shampoo and body wash provided for showering at the hot springs were quite low-quality, and there was no conditioner. Also, the changing room air conditioning was insufficient, so it was quite cold while changing clothes.FromHK$635

This is one of my favorite hotels! The stay included two hot spring tickets, but the front desk staff, knowing I was traveling alone, thoughtfully swapped one for a breakfast voucher instead. The room was very clean and comfortable, and I really liked the Chinese-style decor. The bed was super comfy, and even the hairdryer was good. They even gave me snacks upon check-in – extra thoughtful! The breakfast buffet was plentiful, a great mix of Chinese and Western dishes. The robot ice cream machine was a fun touch; I had two, and they were delicious. The hot springs were also excellent. I visited at the tail end of a holiday, so it was quiet with fewer people. There's also some lovely scenery nearby. Unfortunately, I only had time to visit Emerald Lake, but it was truly beautiful and put a perfect end to my trip. Facilities: The overall layout is quite good, with excellent greenery and ample space. It's lovely to take a walk along the lake. The Taihu Lake view and water quality are decent.
Hygiene: The public areas could use some improvement; it seems there isn't a dedicated cleaner for them. However, the room's hygiene was quite good.
Breakfast: Too many people! The variety is quite rich, but it gets incredibly crowded during holidays.
Hot Springs: Soaking in the hot springs at night was great because you can't see much. During the day, they were closed in the morning due to a lawn wedding happening outside.
Swimming Pool: The temperature was fine, but the shower areas need better hygiene.
Kids' Area: I recommend adding a sandpit or some non-powered play equipment to keep kids entertained longer.

West of Suzhou Industrial Park/Suchow Center Suzhou|9.13km from city centre
I came to Suzhou from Nanjing for a business trip. My first night was at Niccolo, and my second night was at W Suzhou. I've stayed at many Marriott-branded hotels – The Westin Sanya, Nanjing Jinfeng, Shenzhen Kaisa, Zhongzhou, Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott, Xi'an JW, Sanya, Xi'an, Hong Kong, Chengdu Ritz, Beijing Bulgari, etc. By all accounts, I'm a loyal Marriott customer, but this was my first time staying at a W hotel. Let me start by saying this: it completely changed my perception of what a hotel could be; in fact, it hardly felt like a hotel at all.
The day before check-in, Sally, the hotel concierge, called to ask about my room preferences. Upon learning that I liked high-floor rooms, she met me at the front desk early the next day. The hotel lobby's decor, rather than being 'nightclub-esque,' felt more like a private club that never closes. It wasn't tacky; there were no cheap, mixed perfumes often found in nightclubs. Instead, it exuded luxurious design and a top-tier experience. Entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by a suspended swing chair. Due to the twin bed room type, the hotel could only upgrade me to a partial lake view room, but the view genuinely impressed me. While Niccolo's view focused on an unobstructed skyline, W’s view emphasized the dazzling lights on the horizon. The vanity, tables, and chairs, and most surfaces used colored acrylic (or perhaps glass?), strongly highlighting W’s signature high-saturation color palette. My only regret is that due to my tight schedule, I couldn't visit the pool that the hotel highly recommended – apparently, it's right in front of the DJ booth. Next time I stay, I definitely want to try it out! 😂
Now for a small suggestion after all the positives: the sound quality of the speakers in the room wasn't great. Personally, if W positions itself as a social party hub for young people, then the hardware should be impeccable. 🥲 However, this minor flaw doesn't detract from the overall experience; aside from this, there's virtually nothing else to fault.
To summarize, Suzhou W adds a youthful, design-forward vibe while retaining the service and experience of traditional luxury hotels. It's not suited for business travelers or those who prefer quiet. It's perfect for young people, dating couples, and artists. If you love design, vibrancy, and art, choosing W Hotel is a foolproof option. I hope the hotel maintains its original vision and design sensibility. I look forward to an even more perfect experience on my next stay!FromHK$1,032

Traveling to Suzhou, everyone recommended dining at Xiangxuehai Hotel, so I decided to stay there too, and it was a pleasant surprise! The hygiene was excellent, the bedding was very comfortable, and the central air conditioning was powerful. The room had all the necessary amenities. The front desk service was warm and thoughtful, and there were plenty of parking spaces in the internal lot. The only minor downside was that food delivery couldn't be brought directly to the room; perhaps they could consider adding delivery robots. The Chinese restaurant had fantastic food, and I got to try the seasonal 'June Yellow' crab. The Su-style noodle restaurant lived up to its reputation, offering a variety of toppings. The overall style and atmosphere were very comfortable.FromHK$218

The location is super convenient for visiting Jinji Lake. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a microwave, and breakfast was quite good. However, I felt paying extra for breakfast wasn't the best value for money. Overall, it's a great spot for short-stay travelers.FromHK$375

The Capybara King Room was great! It had a projector with mini-games, which my child absolutely loved. The room also came with kid-friendly amenities like a step stool for the sink, a toilet seat, a children's toiletries set, and cartoon bedding. There's an indoor play area and an outdoor activity zone, and the lake view is beautiful! Yolanda from Guest Relations contacted me a day in advance and provided excellent personalized service. Highly recommend for families traveling with children!FromHK$760

This was my first stay at a Marriott here, and I had a pretty good experience. The decor is quite old, but it's well-maintained. It's a nice place to stay for holidays. There's a garden next to the first-floor restaurant with beautiful scenery, and the restaurant itself is decent. Lion, Cindy, and Gracie provided excellent service during breakfast.FromHK$594

I've always trusted the Shangri-La brand, and for this trip to Suzhou, I booked the Shangri-La in Suzhou Industrial Park. The hotel opened in 2019, and the facilities are generally well-maintained. I booked a Deluxe King Room, and the hairdryer and coffee machine were a nice bonus. The high-floor night view is fantastic, offering a distant view of the Jinji Ferris Wheel 🎡. In the evening, you can take a stroll to Jinji Lake and see the Gate of the Orient. There's a FamilyMart convenience store and Starbucks directly opposite the hotel. Nearby, Jiuguang Department Store, Shin Kong Place, and Xiexin Commercial Plaza offer convenient options for shopping, dining, and entertainment – a really great location. The Chinese restaurant on the second floor has a lovely ambiance, specializing in Huaiyang cuisine with an elegant style that's perfect for photos. From the moment you step into the hotel, whether it's the palace-style floral arrangements in the lobby or the Su embroidery screens in the restaurant, everything has a unique charm, reflecting the beauty of the East 🌸, interpreting the new Shangri-La. Finally, a big thank you to my concierge, Yvonne. She was not only thoughtful, taking me on a tour of the hotel and showing me to my room, but also, thanks to her recommendations, my family and I had a delightful and unforgettable night in Suzhou.FromHK$807

My stay at Jinke Grand Hotel during the Labour Holiday was a great experience, especially considering the price. It was very cost-effective, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the amenities offered at such an affordable rate.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a nice view and even a bathtub, which was a great bonus. The hotel also has a swimming pool, which added to the overall experience. The location is very convenient. It is within walking distance of Suzhou North Railway Station, making it easy to get around. It is also about a 20-minutes trip to nearby malls and Western restaurants, which was perfect for me.
The service was excellent. The staff were professional, polite, and very helpful. I especially appreciated that they spoke both English and Mandarin, which made communication smooth and easy.
The only downside was the breakfast selection. While it was decent, I do wish there were more Western-style options, particularly when it comes to meat choices.
Overall, I had a very good stay and would definitely recommend Jinke Grand Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay in a convenient location.FromHK$572

The hotel environment is great, and the rooms have just been renovated but there's no unpleasant smell. The service is excellent! I'd especially like to thank Tingting at the front desk, Wang Zhi from housekeeping for the beautiful flowers, Xiaoyun at the kids' club for helping me find my baby's water bottle, and Wu Dan for the generous fruit delivery. Overall, the service was fantastic! [smiley faces] It's also very suitable for children, as they can feed koi, bunnies, black swans, and ducklings. The children's play facilities are also abundant.FromHK$741

During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, I brought my family to stay at Hotel Nikko Suzhou. The hotel is conveniently located in the Huqiu district, right next to Shizishan Metro Station, making transportation easy. There are plenty of dining options nearby. Although the hotel shows its age a bit with slightly dated decor and facilities, it's well-maintained, upholding the standards of a seasoned star-rated hotel.
We stayed in an Executive King Room. While the room wasn't large, the view from the 27th floor was excellent, especially the mesmerizing night view. The room has a distinct Japanese style, with efficient use of space throughout, making it convenient and clean.
The complimentary afternoon tea and executive lounge benefits were nothing spectacular, but given the reasonable price of the room, we couldn't ask for more.
As it's a Nikko hotel, the breakfast is a blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. The Chinese-style Suzhou noodles and Japanese curry and rich soups were particularly noteworthy.
Finally, regarding the service, the hotel staff were attentive and thoughtful. Jiajia at the front desk was especially enthusiastic and professional during both check-in and check-out. Five-star rating for her!FromHK$528

Cleanliness is consistently good: Rooms are clean, bedding is comfortable, and wet/dry separation is generally well-executed. Most people describe it as 'spotless'.
• High value for money: Prices are mostly between 200–400 RMB per night. For a price point comparable to a 3-star hotel, you get European-style decor and a warmly lit lobby.
• Standardized service: The front desk is responsive, luggage storage is available, some locations have robots for item delivery, and free parking is offered.
• Practical breakfast: Simple Chinese and Western options, including congee/noodles/bread/fruit – enough to fill you up, with some local specialties.
• Poor soundproofing (most common complaint): You can clearly hear conversations in the hallway, doors opening and closing, and the TV in the next room. Street-facing rooms will have traffic noise.
• Inconsistent facility newness:
◦ New branches (after 2022): Smart room controls, fresh air systems, wood-look flooring, 25–28㎡ rooms.
◦ Older branches: Worn carpets, outdated furniture, limescale on showerheads, slow drains, some rooms without windows/lingering smoke smell.
• Inconsistent service: Slow check-in during peak times, some front desk staff can be indifferent, and complaint resolution is average.
• Small space: Basic rooms are about 20㎡, making it cramped to move around once luggage is placed.
• Smoke/unpleasant odors: Some non-smoking rooms still have a smoke smell, and occasional drain odors.FromHK$311

I am definitely a frequent traveler/stayer/eater, and I have experienced many high-end hotels/boutique B&Bs/boutique restaurants. But this time I want to say: This boutique B&B (inn) is worth my recommendation.
1. The owner of the inn is a famous Suzhou garden designer, so the taste and foundation of the inn are very good.
2. The male and female managers have a good hobby and cultivation of tea art/meditation and meditation, which adds a lot of added value and fun to the inn.
3. In addition to the good breakfast included in the inn, the inn owner will also invite customers to join their private lunch and dinner, which is very authentic Hunan cuisine, which is simply a unique and exquisite dish in Tongli.
4. Warm and warm service and feeling.
. . .
Of course, other routine services are also very good, so I won’t say more.
In short, recommended!FromHK$1,099

The weather is getting colder, so it's time to soak in the hot springs! The hotel faces Taihu Lake, the air is fresh, and the view is amazing. The hotel service is also excellent; staff contacted us in advance to ask about our check-in time and number of guests. Because we were traveling with a child, they thoughtfully upgraded us to a family suite. The room was large and spacious, and had two bathrooms, which was very convenient for families. A special thank you to Xiao Liu at the front desk for her attentive and patient service over the past two days, and also to the housekeeping staff for keeping the place spotless. Nanxun Ancient Town is about 10 kilometers from the hotel, so you can drive there for a stroll.FromHK$611
Suzhou Metro Map FAQs
-
Does the Suzhou Metro connect to Shanghai?
Yes — Suzhou Metro Line 11 connects directly to the Shanghai Metro at Huaqiao station, which is an interchange with Shanghai Metro Line 11. Through-service between Suzhou Metro Line 3 and Line 11 means passengers can travel all the way from Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station to Huaqiao (and onwards into Shanghai) without changing trains. The journey from central Suzhou to Huaqiao takes roughly 45–60 minutes. -
Where can I download the Suzhou Metro Map in English as a PDF?
An English-language Suzhou Metro Map in PDF format can be downloaded from the official Suzhou Metro website or found on travel platforms such as Trip.com. The map clearly labels all stations in English (with Chinese pinyin), colour-codes each line, and marks transfer stations and key landmarks. It is highly recommended to save the map offline before travelling, as public Wi-Fi in metro stations can be inconsistent. -
Is there a metro line to Suzhou Railway Station and Suzhou North Railway Station?
Yes. Suzhou Railway Station (苏州站) is served by both Line 2 and Line 4, making it easily accessible from most parts of the city. Suzhou North Railway Station (苏州北站), which handles the majority of high-speed rail services, is served by Line 2. Travellers arriving by high-speed train from Shanghai (approx. 30 min), Hangzhou, Nanjing, or Beijing should check whether their train stops at Suzhou or Suzhou North, as they are on different metro stops. -
What is the cheapest way to ride the Suzhou Metro?
The most cost-effective way to ride the Suzhou Metro depends on how often you plan to travel. For occasional journeys, purchasing a single-journey ticket (starting at ¥2, roughly CAD $0.40) is perfectly fine. If you plan to take 4 or more trips in a day, the 1-day pass (¥18) offers better value. For multi-day visitors, the 3-day pass (¥40) is the best deal. Using a QR code via WeChat or Alipay also charges distance-based fares with no surcharge. -
What app should I use to navigate the Suzhou Metro?
The official Suzhou Metro app is called 苏e行 (Sū E Xíng). It supports QR code payments and real-time journey planning in Chinese. For English-language navigation, many travellers use Baidu Maps or Amap (Gaode Maps), which both support English and offer metro routing. WeChat's City Services function and Alipay also support QR code metro payments for registered users. For trip planning before you travel, Trip.com's transport guides can help you pre-plan your metro routes in Suzhou. -
What time does the Suzhou Metro open and close?
Most Suzhou Metro lines operate from approximately 05:40–06:00 (first train) to 22:20–23:00 (last train). Operating hours vary slightly by line and by day — on weekends and public holidays, services are typically extended by 20–40 minutes. Line 2 may also run later on nights when high-speed trains arrive late at Suzhou North Railway Station, and Line 11 adjusts its schedule to align with Shanghai Metro connections. Always check the official Suzhou Metro website for the most up-to-date timetable.
