Sapporo Hostels

I chose Centurion, thinking the service would be great, and it was decent. You can experience a Japanese bath (furo). For the sauna, you have to wait for the top of the hour to enter. When I arrived, it was just before 9 PM, and I saw a group of men and young guys neatly lined up in three rows outside the sauna door. No pushing or shoving, just waiting for the staff to say 'go in.' They all went in naked, very obedient! The bed was a huge capsule, very comfortable. However, they charge an extra 500 yen to store luggage after check-out! This isn't really like a typical hostel; it's more of a men's bathhouse, specifically for guys who come to shower and bathe.

The location is super convenient, with a 7-Eleven right downstairs. The elevators are separated for men and women, and you need a key card to go up. The second floor has a restaurant and a lounge area, and the third floor has very clean bathrooms. My floor, the sixth, also had a restroom. The bed was quite large, but there was a hair on the sheets – not sure if they weren't changed or if there was another reason. I was too tired from my business trip to bother asking about it, so I just slept. Overall, it was still good, not noisy, and I was able to get some sleep.

The biggest plus for this hotel is definitely its location in Susukino. It's only about a 3-minute walk to the Nikka Whisky billboard, Cocono Susukino, and the subway station. Plus, there are plenty of dining and shopping options right downstairs, which is super convenient. The hotel lobby is quite stylish with a projector screen, perfect for enjoying a meal or just relaxing. The overall decor has an industrial and camping-inspired vibe. The room itself is a bit on the small side, but the bed is incredibly soft. One minor issue is that the room door uses a thin curtain, which doesn't do much for soundproofing, so earplugs are recommended if you're a light sleeper. The bathroom facilities are great, complete with a hairdryer and basic toiletries. I just wish they had slightly larger room options. The hotel is in the tallest building right next to the Ferris wheel in the photo.

The cabins are gorgeous and clean. The sauna was very hot. The advertised coffee machine wasn't working after 10 PM. There was hot water available, but no tea bags! I checked in, wanted to have a snack, but there was no tea. Why mislead guests about services? I could have gone down to the store, but I was already in my pajamas after the sauna. So, I ended up eating a bun with hot water.

I saw the photos and thought the environment was bad. In fact, it was not like this at all. It was very clean and tidy. It was just like Doraemon's home. Because we stayed in a Japanese-style room, the experience was really good. The Japanese room had a futon mattress, which was not hard at all. There was also heating, which was really comfortable! ! ! There was a small step as soon as you entered the door. Each person had a pair of clean cloth slippers, and then you had to take off your shoes. I really want to emphasize that the owner grandpa was really kind and friendly. He was really nice! ! ! ! I don't know why some people in the comment area have such high requirements. In fact, it was really quiet at night. Grandpa will help you take the suitcase to dry it first, and then provide ointment, toothbrush, bath towel and face towel for free. There are two bathrooms and one bathroom is super big. The bathroom has two showers and a bathtub. In fact, you can lock it when you take a shower alone. And you have to change slippers when you enter the bathroom. It is really very clean. You can also wash clothes, but it seems to be paid. There is a medium-sized restaurant on the first floor. I don't know how it is because I didn't book breakfast. In short, you must choose a Japanese-style room! ! ! ! This is the third hotel I have stayed in Japan (one hotel and two B&Bs). The experience of this one is super great! ! ! !
