Lijiang Yulong Kuoliu Ancient Manor

The proprietress is very nice and very enthusiastic! The breakfast is delicious! You can see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain outside the room. Kuoliugu is the favorite and most satisfying hotel in the whole trip to Yunnan this time, and was infected by the enthusiasm of the boss. We had a train at 20:25 in the evening and told the proprietress to let us stay in the room until 19:00. I was really touched. The most surprising thing about the trip was that in addition to the beautiful scenery, there were people I met, and the proprietress was one of the surprises!

The inn is quaint, the dining and tea-making area on the 2nd floor is very spacious and the view is excellent. I like to taste the hostess's cuisine the most, and make a unique flavor meal with the freshest and freshly picked vegetables, handmade tofu, eggs and other ingredients. Every meal is delicious. If you like climbers, you can also make an appointment to ask the male owner to lead the climb. The accommodation is very clean, the bath water is hot enough and the washing is very comfortable. It is a lovely and memorable place to relax.

I highly recommend this hotel to friends who don't like crowded places and just want to find a place with beautiful scenery and few people to relax for a day or two. This hotel is inside the Yuhu Village Scenic Area, but you don't need to buy tickets for the Jingli District. If you contact the store in advance, you can drive the car directly into the scenic area and park at the door of the hotel, which saves dozens of dollars. You can also drive to the vicinity of Longnu Lake, and let the hotel car take you there, and then slowly walk back from the village. There are many cafes and restaurants in the village. You can also order food at the hotel, which tastes good and has a good price-performance ratio.

The inn is quite new. It has a smart toilet and a projector. However, it is located at the end of the village. The environment of the parking lot is a bit poor. It is muddy and difficult to find the road at night. There are no lights. However, the proprietress was very enthusiastic and came out to lead the way. It is quite close to the parking lot. Yes, the room is relatively quiet, and you should be able to see the snow-capped mountains from the second floor. There is no door to the bathroom, and the toilet flushes too loudly, which somewhat affects the rest of the people in the same room. Everything else is pretty good.

The small yard is so comfortable. You can park at the door. It is very convenient. It is very quiet at night. It is very convenient to go to the snow mountains and the ancient city. It is recommended to travel by car. There are cats and dogs in the yard. It is very comfortable. Recommended!

This stargazing trip was the most unexpected and wonderful encounter of my Yunnan trip. I communicated with the shop manager about the weather beforehand, and thankfully, the weather cooperated after we arrived in the evening, clearing away the clouds and allowing us to stargaze successfully. There was a young lady in the shop whose smile was so healing; even now, thinking about her smile feels like a gentle breeze. The image of her walking her dogs in the morning makes you feel how beautiful life is. Our stargazing instructor was a seemingly laid-back and easygoing young man, but when it came to stargazing, he was incredibly knowledgeable and eloquent. The auntie who cooked at the shop was amazing; her simple stir-fried cabbage without meat was the best home-cooked meal I've ever had! Recalling the star clusters, nebulae, and Jupiter (we were even able to see the eye of a storm), it was so beautiful—a lonely and distant beauty. At five in the morning, I stood in the courtyard watching the winter Milky Way. It was so cold, and with my severe nearsightedness, I didn't see the Milky Way, but I did see the most breathtaking sky of stars I've ever witnessed! How can I put it? It felt like the closest place I'd ever been to the stars. Looking back now, it's all wonderful.

I came here to see the alpine Danxia landforms, but the transportation to this area is quite inconvenient, and it's not very well-known in Lijiang. Accommodation options on Hongshi Street are limited, but the owner and his family are incredibly friendly, and the local Lisu people are simple and hospitable. The small courtyard is spotless. It's situated by the river, and the soothing white noise from the water really helps you sleep. For meals, I highly recommend 'Liu Da Wan' (Six Big Bowls); their food is very distinctive and delicious. For Thousand Turtle Mountain tickets, I strongly recommend buying the package that includes the cable car – it's a great deal. Purchasing tickets on site isn't really worth it. Because of the low number of tourists, many of the interpretive signs on the mountain are old and dilapidated. It's truly a shame to see such a beautiful place fading away, and I hope it can gain more popularity.

I recommend conducting thorough research before making reservations to fully understand what to expect. We were somewhat surprised by the campsite-style setup, as we booked based solely on website photos without delving into the specifics. While the facilities are adequate, the layout lacks privacy. For instance, to use the cabin's toilet, all curtains on the first level must be closed. Additionally, the toilet bowl is situated behind stairs without any curtains, potentially allowing others in the cabin to see. Moreover, the second-level flooring consists of planks with numerous gaps, providing visibility to the first level, including the bathtub and toilet bowl. I strongly advise against booking this accommodation for families with children due to the safety risk posed by the sliding doors on the second level, which lack safety measures. While they offer a unique view of the mountain, the danger of potential falls is significant. If you do choose to consider it as a family cabin, I recommend checking with the staff to lock the doors from the outside for added safety. Despite the unexpected aspects mentioned above, our overall stay was still decent. The staff were hospitable and helpful throughout our visit. Communication was convenient via WeChat for check-in details, recommendations, and self-checkout. It seems that the camping style of accommodation was a selling point, it’s definitely a unique stay. I’m sure there’s a specific crowd that would fully enjoy the experience.

The boss is a casual Buddhist. If you have a lot of requirements for accommodation, it is not recommended to stay here. It is suitable for travelers who are also free and easy. The courtyard is on the main street of the ancient town, which is very convenient. If you can't drive into the ancient town street, this inn is also close to the entrance, so you don't need to drag your suitcase on the stone road. The courtyard is ancient and quaint. You can see Yulong Snow Mountain from the window of 202 on the second floor.
