"On the flight back to Beijing from Lijiang, I'm already eager to share my travel experience at Hylla. To sum it up in one sentence: it's worth coming to Lijiang just for Hylla.
1. First and foremost, the hotel's staff is exceptional. Every room has a dedicated butler, and Mr. Xie Wei, who assisted us, was incredibly responsive, fulfilling almost every request and perfectly balancing attentiveness with discretion – appearing when needed and staying out of sight when not. Miss Hairuo from Jilu Cafe exuded passion for her work. And Tom, the young man with glasses who served our dinner for two consecutive evenings, was tirelessly attentive throughout the meal. Spending time with this team each day felt like a breath of fresh air.
2. The public areas are truly unparalleled. Beyond the architecture, the hotel's gardening is of a very high standard – not uniformly manicured, but a modern yet natural 'wild garden.' It's far more than just the 'lonely tree' area representing 'poetry and distant lands.' Jilu Cafe, the Red House Shop, Building 7's handicraft workshop, Guru Healing Space, and the 200-acre back mountain forest, numerous common living rooms, and countless flowers and plants all deserve to be savored. My favorite is the cafe; its design concept is fascinating, built around an ancient apricot tree. It's bright, natural, and lush with greenery, extending right to the edge of the forest – a truly 'living cafe.'
3. The dining is top-tier among Lijiang hotels. The room rate includes breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is served until 11 am (and even later when there are more guests). Both the à la carte live cooking stations and the buffet items are of high quality, offering a rich variety of local snacks. Dinner is a set menu, with the butler sending the day's selections in advance. The menu changes daily and includes soup, cold dishes, main courses, hotpot, and dessert. So, if you wake up late, you can easily have two meals a day at the hotel without spending an extra dime outside. Additionally, Jilu Cafe offers both Chinese and Western afternoon teas, which are quite aesthetically pleasing.
Finally, this trip was to fulfill my partner's wish to celebrate a birthday under the snow-capped mountains. When I told Mr. Xie Wei, he and his colleagues perfectly made that wish come true. The whole process was simple, romantic, and flawless.
Hylla rooms do not have televisions; instead, four large windows face either Jade Dragon Snow Mountain or Baisha Old Town. There are no bustling activities in the evening; instead, you get the crisp mountain breeze under the snow mountain and the sound of birds chirping in the morning. It's destined to be niche, but it truly stands out."
