"I contacted customer services about 2 issues but no return call! Housekeeper tried to change the temperature but no success. Even the bathroom was far too hot. Roadworks & repairs to the bar below were taking place but no apology. Finally, card box broken into but again, no apology from reception. No amenities used across the road in the pub."

"The hotel is right next to the University of Essex, making it very convenient to get to the school. The rooms are spacious with balconies and great views. However, the bathroom facilities are a bit basic; the shower curtain is narrow, barely covering the entire shower area, so water splashes everywhere. Public transportation is inconvenient; it's a 10-minute walk to the bus stop."

"Hotel was close to Colchester Station which was a bonus as my friend and I just needed to bed down for the night. Staff were friendly and welcoming but not always available. We had a curry next door as they recommended the food and it was good. Room was ok but noisy from the traffic in the morning outside the front of the hotel. Decor and furnishings somewhat dated but just about comfortable enough. Maintenance needs attention. Minor issues such as hairdryer not fixed properly to the wall and no option to switch shower head as the lever was missing. However phone didn't work when I called Reception several times on hearing the fire alarm sound. Turned out to be a false alarm but couldn't be too complacent. Tried the stairwell and was thankful that the exit and side door were accessible, unlike the main front door which had a set of keys dangling from it and was only unlocked when we left in search of breakfast. Overall mixed review."

"Lovely modern room. Great wet room. We run out of toilet paper and no other left in room. Bed was very comfortable. Hairdryer, iron and dressing gown in room.  Hotels fire alarm definitely worked as got woken at 7am to evacuate building. Security were very quick to sort issue, guest had lit candle in one of the rooms. Used the swimming pool steam room and spa which was free.  Good variety of food at breakfast with good view of surrounding grounds. Big car park free of charge"

"Staff were great all very friendly Room was spacious wardrobe big enough for a 4 yr old to sleep in ( excuse my humour ) and very clean Evening meal portions great food very tasty & staff looked after granddaughter well with keeping her occupied . Breakfast was a little of a let down as under the warmer food was still cold and bacon very dry … cheese was dried up with the cold meats only I flavour yoghurt I wish I had ordered off the fresh cooked menu of eggs selection ( but I never left hungry ) Despite second paragraph I would defo return"

The polution leverls are falling rapiduly and helping the staff stay.qirh tje plans ia to uae feet cover s i have golashes palatix then off my boota and on theae over my socks.. or slippers or a hosue shoe ..like a indoor trainers or shoe fpr sports. The carpest are tp be kept but if the customera kwpw tjis bargin the staff can have many many pther taaka compelted within health and safety. "I would have given a high score but the sheer noise, disruption and pure havoc caused by disgusting residents having fighting matches in the rooms and corridor close to our room made the stay horrible. The staff were great I trying to deal with terrible guests but the noise still continued and doors regularly slammed hard. Didn’t sleep well at all "

"Hotel has a great location. Fabulous rooms. Only downside was the lack of staff which caused problems with the breakfast service. The individual staff members worked hard to compensate but waiting for 20minutes before a drinks order for coffee was taken and then the breakfast room didn't have enough seating for everyone. The quality of the food was really bad and the orders were wrong. I would recommend staying here for location but dont bother eating in the hotel. Standards have really dropped."

"Room was old and shabby, holes in blinds marks and dirt on walls. Room was not clean. I wad told could not move me as they were over booked. Website was still showing rooms available.I asked to speak with manager wad told away till 13th April. I had to feal with reasturant manager. She advised me she couldn't help, although offered a free meal in reasturant. I was there for two nights. The cleaner had to come back twice, ad thick dust and rubbish behind headboard and under bed."
