"Traveling alone, convenient location with many restaurants nearby, clean room, air conditioning already on when I checked in, so it was comfortable. Toilet and bath are shared. The hallway is not air conditioned, so I was surprised at how hot it was when I went to the toilet at night. I think it's because of the crazy temperatures this summer. The front door is locked, and even before the 11pm curfew, you have to ring the intercom to get in, so I think some people find the constant ringing of the intercom annoying. I was exhausted so I went to bed early, so I didn't mind the sound of the intercom."

"Although it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below. Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks. Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly). Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion."

"Five-star recommendation, the owner of the homestay is a very kind and friendly couple, suitable for friends who travel alone. Facilities: There are two floors in total, with two bathrooms and two toilets. Most of the time, there is no need to queue. There are also many free snacks to eat. The walls are decorated with banknotes, coins from various countries, and hand-painted by guests. Hygiene: The sanitation is cleaned every morning, and the public areas are very clean. Environment: There is a small Japanese courtyard, which is beautiful on rainy days. The room is very warm. The location is not as convenient as Sijo, but it is okay to have buses around. Service: This is important to say that the boss is really nice. I received a hand-painted card with my name on it the next morning. It was really touching to experience this warmth in a foreign country. Every day when I come back from outside, I will hear ”Welcome back” and see two smiling faces. My roommates have always been Chinese, and it is also a different experience to communicate with different friends every day. I left here today and changed my residence and felt a little uncomfortable. Finally, I wish mama and papa good health and happiness."

"The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and they provided toiletries, including skincare and cleanser, which was a nice touch. The location was excellent, just next to Kyoto Station, making it very convenient to get around. Breakfast was good, with a slightly Western selection, though there were limited Japanese options. They don’t have a laundry room, but there is a self-service laundromat about 500 meters away."

"Authentic experience, just what we were looking for! The place was traditional and felt real. Toilets were good, as were the showers, all amenities were fine. I was a little apprehensive about the self check in but it was really easy and straight forwards. Japanese rice porridge was included and a nice touch. Overall, the stay was perfect, exactly what we wanted."

"Stayed for several nights in December — very good location for many attactions and Kyoto station in walking distance. Staff was very helpful with the luggage and treats, also warned about free calligraphy lesson in dinning area which was additional impression during my stay!"

There are many shops, restaurants, cafés, and convenience stores within walking distance, which was extremely helpful during the stay. Public transportation is also easily accessible, saving time when travelling to different attractions. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the room provided enough space to relax after a long day. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping everything tidy. Basic amenities were provided, and everything worked well throughout the stay. Overall, the combination of a great location and a comfortable room made this hotel a good choice. It is suitable for both short and long stays, especially for travellers who value convenience and accessibility. I would consider staying here again and would recommend it to others looking for a hotel in a good location with many nearby amenities."

"Absolutely loved this hotel. Booked it in a rush and couldn’t be more satisfied. I was more pleased that this was a my 4 night stay in Kyoto during my Japan trip this year. The style of the room is a modern traditional Japanese room, with tatami inspired floor for the bed area, separating the entrance and wash areas. The main bed is raised so there’s plenty of room underneath to store multiple luggages. I loved that there is a small wooden folding table that has its own wall hanger when not used. The toilet is also separated from the shower/tub room, and wash area with a sink and large mirror. Each area had its own sliding door. Extra toiletries available in the main lobby included bath salts, which was perfect for relaxing in the tub after hiking Mount Inari to the top. I was solo travelling but booked a 2 person room as that was the only one available at the time, and the price was just right."

"Despite being away from the city they charge for parking and also despite being a platinum elite member no benefits extended. They were pretty stuck about everything and I did not enjoy the lack of care. We celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday there and they were aware and the gift that was kept in the room was 2 sachets of bath salt. Something really needs to be done in terms of service."
