Calling myself a regular isn't an exaggeration. For many years, whenever I came to Zhaoqing, this was the first accommodation option that came to mind. Over these years, many new hotels have opened in Zhaoqing, and I have tried some of them. Each time, I'd wonder: Should I try a different one? Will a new hotel offer a better experience? But after a few stays elsewhere, I always found myself unable to truly give up on the New Hotel. The reason is simple and very real – its location is just unbeatable. Right by Star Lake, you can step out for a walk, enjoy the lake views, feel the breeze, and take your time; it's also convenient for dining, shopping, and errands. For someone who once lived in Zhaoqing for a short period, Star Lake isn't just a scenic spot; it's a deep memory connection between me and this city. Later, because my junior colleague has always lived in Zhaoqing, I've grown to like this city even more. Zhaoqing has become a place where we often come to relax and vacation. And the New Hotel, because of its location, has always remained my choice. But to be honest, I wasn't always satisfied with this hotel before. One could even say that for a period, I chose it with a feeling of 'settling'. Because I loved its location so much, even when there were some uncomfortable experiences in terms of service and room details, I would still wrestle with the thought: Should I continue to stay here? For example, some details were overlooked, the service lacked warmth, or minor issues with room facilities weren't addressed promptly. In a room we frequently stayed in, the showerhead had a persistent problem. Details like these, individually, might not seem like a big deal, but with frequent stays, they really affect the overall experience. So, before my most recent stay, I was actually a bit hesitant. On one hand, I truly loved the location by Star Lake, but on the other hand, I worried: Will it be the same as before? Will I once again put up with less-than-ideal experiences because I can't give up this location? Since the trip was a last-minute decision, I contacted the hotel's front desk manager (whom I had added before) very late the day before our trip to inquire about availability. And one action by the manager convinced me to choose this hotel: he proactively booked the room I frequently stay in and like, and even upgraded it for free. This had never happened before. This was the first time I felt that they finally saw the customer. And this time, it brought many pleasant surprises. Upon arrival, the security guard actively came to help with our luggage and guided us to the most suitable parking spot. Previously, many times, we had to actively ask the security guards where to park, and they often seemed indifferent. I attributed this to inadequate follow-up in a tier-two city. The lobby manager proactively greeted us, which was almost unheard of in my previous stays at this hotel, so I immediately noticed these subtle changes. Later, the staff explicitly told us that the hotel was undergoing a service upgrade and hoped we would have a better stay this time. Once inside the room, the changes were even more apparent. It was the same room I always stayed in, and the showerhead, which used to have a minor issue but was still usable, was now genuinely fixed. The hotel slippers had also been upgraded, and some small amenities and service details in the room were better than before. None of these changes were particularly dramatic, but for a regular guest, they are easily noticed. Because we are so familiar with its past, we are more likely to see its current improvements. What truly makes a hotel comfortable sometimes isn't its luxury, but whether it truly prioritizes the guest's experience. The fixed shower, more comfortable slippers, more proactive staff, and a warmer lobby atmosphere – these details combined make one feel that this stay is no longer a 'settlement because of the good location,' but genuinely a more comfortable experience. I also really liked the displays in the lobby this time, related to Zhaoqing tourism and urban culture. I've always felt that with such a prime location, the New Hotel shouldn't just be a place to stay. It could absolutely be a window for outsiders to get to know Zhaoqing and connect with its culture. Zhaoqing truly is a special city. It has mountains and water, history, a sense of everyday life, and an understated but enduring beauty. Especially Star Lake – it's not the kind of place you just visit once for a photo op; it's a place that makes you want to return again and again, and gradually grow fond of it. So, after this stay, my feeling about the New Hotel is: it seems to finally be living up to its fantastic location. As a loyal guest for many years, I'm very happy to see it improving. I also hope this service upgrade isn't just a temporary trend but something that can genuinely be sustained. After all, for guests like us who love Zhaoqing, love Star Lake, and are always willing to come back, what we most look forward to isn't perfection, but rather a willingness to genuinely treat each stay with care and pay attention to those small details that were once overlooked. This time, I no longer feel like I'm 'settling' by choosing it. Instead, I feel: 'Yes, coming back to stay here is truly worth it.'"

Hygiene: The hygiene is clean and tidy, but they don't provide enough bath towels; you have to take them from your room to the pool area yourself. The location is also very good, with many large shopping malls nearby, and ordering takeout is convenient. Service: The service is average; nothing particularly outstanding. For takeout, you have to call the front desk every time to have it delivered to your room; otherwise, you have to go down to the parcel locker yourself. There's a butler service, but the butler kept bothering us on WeChat to give a high rating. I was initially going to give a high rating, but then I found out that we didn't get a discount on the buffet we bought from them. They had advertised a 45-yuan discount per person that day, but they didn't inform us of this policy and let us buy the buffet tickets at full price. When I asked the front desk and the platform, they confirmed the discount was available, but the butler didn't proactively tell us about it."
