Hangzhou Metro Payment Methods

Hangzhou Metro supports diverse cashless and cash payment options, with no Chinese bank card required for foreign visitors. All methods below are fully accessible for Canadian tourists:

Exclusive tip for international travelers: Alipay supports binding overseas credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB) issued in Canada, eliminating the need for a Chinese bank account or local phone card. Once bound, you can generate a dynamic QR code to scan and ride directly, which is the most hassle-free payment method for first-time Canadian visitors.

2. Single Journey Tickets

Physical tickets can be purchased at station self-service vending machines or manual ticket counters. Vending machines accept cash (CNY), mobile payments, and digital RMB. Unused tickets with no entry records are refundable at the original purchase station on the same day.

3. Transit Cards

Hangzhou Citizen Cards and Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai T-Union Cards are available for frequent travellers, offering a 9% discount on regular fares. Suitable for long-term stays in eastern China.

4. NFC & Digital RMB

Tap-and-go NFC payment is compatible with Apple Wallet and mainstream Android NFC wallets, supporting quick entry without physical tickets or QR codes. Digital RMB payment is also available via the Hangzhou Metro App or official E-CNY App, partnered with major Chinese banks. Note that digital RMB is optional for foreign travelers, and mainstream international payment methods are fully sufficient for daily rides.

5. Tourist Passes (Best Value for Canadian Visitors)

Exclusive electronic unlimited-ride passes for short-term travellers, available for purchase directly on the Hangzhou Metro App (2026 valid pricing, CAD conversion attached):

  • 1-Day Pass: 15 CNY (~2.85 CAD)

I had a layover in Hangzhou and chose the Grand Metropark Hotel, located in the city center. Overall, my experience was excellent, with warm service, a prime location, and a rich cultural atmosphere. 📍 **Perfect Location, Easy Access to West Lake** The hotel is situated on the bustling Pinghai Road, about a 10-15 minute walk from West Lake. Intime Department Store, Wushan Night Market, and a subway station are all within walking distance, making it incredibly convenient for dining, shopping, and entertainment. There's also an airport shuttle stop right outside, which is a huge plus for air travelers. 🤝 **Service is the Highlight, Thanks for the Room Upgrade** I can't praise the hotel's service enough. From the front desk to housekeeping, the staff were all incredibly enthusiastic and attentive. The biggest surprise was during check-in when the front desk proactively upgraded my standard king room to an executive suite. The extra space was much appreciated, and I truly thank them for this thoughtful gesture. Any requests I had during my stay were promptly addressed, reflecting the deep service quality of a seasoned five-star hotel. 🎋 **Suite Facilities Showcase Unique Chinese Charm** The executive suite's amenities were truly impressive. The bookshelf was filled with classic Chinese books, and picking one up to read felt like a touch of ancient elegance. The desk featured the 'Four Treasures of the Study' (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab, and paper), making you want to try your hand at calligraphy. There was also a Go board, perfect for a leisurely game with family, adding a unique charm. After a busy day, soaking in the massage bathtub melted away all my fatigue. These thoughtful touches elevated the entire stay beyond mere accommodation; it felt like an immersive cultural journey, which my elders particularly enjoyed. 🏨 **The Unique Charm of an Established Hotel** As one of Hangzhou's older five-star hotels, it lacks the superficiality of newer establishments, instead exuding a settled and composed elegance. The guest rooms are spacious and grand, and both the cleanliness and bedding comfort were top-notch. The hotel's spiral staircase has a charming retro feel, and many guests take photos there, with every shot looking like a professional masterpiece.

My kids really loved it. The family-friendly room was quite spacious. The cleanliness was on par with other hotels, nothing particularly outstanding, just average. Although the subway is within walking distance, it still takes a few minutes. It would be even better if it were closer, especially on rainy days.

I initially thought this wasn't a new hotel, so the price was very budget-friendly. But to my surprise, besides the affordable price, the hotel rooms still felt five-star quality, with a very comfortable king-sized bed. Plus, the hotel's location is right next to West Lake; opening the window offers a magnificent panoramic view of the lake – amazing! Finally, I have to give a special shout-out to the hotel service. After booking on Ctrip, a staff member from the hotel's reservation department (I think her name was Shao Linfang) immediately contacted me. After understanding my travel purpose and preferences, she arranged a room with a fantastic view and prime location – excellent! This hotel will definitely be my first choice for future business trips to Hangzhou.

Originally, I planned to stay from the 4th to the 11th, but due to a typhoon forecast, I checked out on the 10th instead. The hotel's location is excellent; it's right across the street from West Lake, and a short walk of less than 300 meters takes you to Intime Department Store. It's also very close to Hefang Street, Hangzhou Museum, Wulin Square, and the Intime in77 shopping area. We visited West Lake, Yanggong Dike, Wetland Park, Wushan, Zhejiang Museum, Hubin Intime in77, and Wulin Night Market, among others. The room was clean and tidy, and the bed was very comfortable. All the hotel staff were enthusiastic and attentive. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the food quality was excellent. We had lunch and dinner at the Chinese restaurant from Tuesday to Thursday; the dishes were fresh, exquisite, and delicious – highly recommended. The buffet dinner on Saturday and Sunday was bountiful, with a wide variety of desserts that were beautifully presented. There were three flavors of crayfish, roasted lamb ribs, roasted pork hock, and very authentic and tasty lamb skewers. They also had salmon, tuna, Arctic surf clam, various shellfish, and cheese. I highly recommend the buffet dinner. This was my fourth trip to Hangzhou, and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Location: The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. It's right next to Kerry Centre mall, within walking distance to West Lake for the fountain show, and also close enough to walk to In77. Wulin Night Market is also nearby. In short, it's super convenient. Hygiene: The environment is clean and tidy, perfect for washing away the fatigue of a day of sightseeing. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, and it's quiet too. The only minor point is that the bedding felt a bit damp, but that's somewhat unavoidable in summer. Service: All the staff are very nice, thoughtful, and enthusiastic. On such hot days, they made sure to stock the room with plenty of water daily. They even upgraded my room during check-in, which was a lovely touch. Facilities: As expected from an established five-star hotel, all facilities are well-placed where needed. The only thing I'd suggest improving, if possible, is the overhead showerhead. Overall, staying at Shangri-La added comfort and perfection to my trip to Hangzhou.

The self-service laundry room is definitely the highlight of Zhejiang Hotel. My daughter's seven-day summer camp just ended, and we were continuing our trip after picking her up. Being able to get all our dirty laundry done at the hotel was incredibly convenient. The laundry room is spacious, with plenty of washers and dryers, and a well-thought-out layout. They even provide detergent, an ironing machine, and sewing kits – everything you could need. The hotel's location is also super convenient, right next to a subway entrance. It only took 50 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel, which was even faster than taking a taxi. It's also very close to West Lake and Wulin Night Market; you can just grab a shared bike and be there in a few minutes, much easier than dealing with traffic in a taxi. The room itself is spacious, with two 1.35m beds, which was still plenty of space for a family of three even with an older child. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Hangzhou.

The location is good, close to West Lake, making it convenient for sightseeing. However, a taxi from the airport is quite far, costing around 130-140 RMB one way, plus a 20 RMB highway toll. The hotel's facilities themselves are old; the hairdryer looks like it's from 30 years ago, and it takes forever to dry long hair. Secondly, the breakfast is terrible for a hotel in this price range. There's only a noodle station with an old aunt making omelets or noodles. They offer two types of porridge and some vegetables, and that's it. You can fill up, but it's not great. There was a staff member in a uniform toasting about 10 slices of bread and placing them on a plate. I assumed it was for guests, but when I took a slice, I was scolded and told it was for someone else and I had to toast my own. Afterward, a female staff member in a suit took that plate of bread out of the dining room and into her office. With service like this, guests can decide for themselves if they want to stay here. I'm speechless.

Great location, right by the subway (Longxiang Bridge station is convenient for getting anywhere) and West Lake. The room was decent, just a bit small. The view from upstairs was good, and breakfast was okay. It was easy to get to Hu Xueyan's Former Residence (though it was very crowded) with the kids. Hangzhou is truly beautiful, and West Lake is stunning, but it was so hot and sunny in summer, with high temperature warnings! 🥵 Definitely better to visit before June. I'll come again in the future, haha, and still choose the Marco Polo Hotel.

I chose the Grand Hyatt for my internship in Hangzhou, and overall, it was a good experience. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the lake view was beautiful. I recommend prioritizing rooms on the 8th floor, as they offer more space. The hotel is a bit older, so the facilities feel a little dated, and the air conditioning wasn't very strong – I hope they can optimize that in the future. Getting around by taxi can be a bit tricky due to traffic and one-way streets, so it's good to plan ahead. The service was very attentive, and the staff were all enthusiastic, especially our concierge Cecilia (Cao Kaixuan), who was patient, meticulous, and communicated promptly throughout our stay, making us feel very well cared for. The breakfast quality was also good, and the juice was delicious. We even received a cute squirrel doll as a welcome gift, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and I recommend it.

The hotel is a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, with a great sense of style. The breakfast spread was very generous and even included some Hangzhou specialties. For lunch, we had the sweet osmanthus root and West Lake醋鱼 (vinegar fish), both of which were absolutely delicious. The hotel's back exit leads directly to West Lake, and they even have their own boat, which was incredibly convenient. We look forward to staying here again.

I stayed at the Shangri-La last December when I was in Hangzhou. This time, I brought my two children, so I naturally chose this hotel again. The front desk lady, Sweetie, was very professional and attentive. She quickly picked up on our needs. Her professionalism was actually higher than the staff I encountered at the Intercontinental and Westin in Nanjing. Seeing that my children were older, she generously offered a complimentary room upgrade and an extra bed, plus a free breakfast. I'm so grateful! 🙏 I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Hangzhou. It was a really comfortable stay.

The room was quite spacious and clean, and you could see the Qiantang River from the window. Of course, their main draw is the infinity pool, but I couldn't get in because it was raining. Having a drink at the poolside bar was also nice. The facilities are a bit old, and the toilet isn't smart. The breakfast was adequate, but the quality wasn't great; the frozen wontons and noodles had no texture. However, the auntie serving the noodles was very friendly and had a good memory. The fruit at the restaurant wasn't very fresh either. I hope they can improve the breakfast quality, then it would be perfect. The standard room isn't expensive, but the river view suite is quite pricey.

Overall stay was nice in the hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast had many western and Chinese options, which were good. Our package included indoor hot-spring experience which was suitable considering the cold weather outside. Only disappointment was 'Nausicaa of the Wind Tour Ticket' which was included in the package while booking from trip.com. In trip.com under package details it was mentioned that it was a scenic stop/park and we thought entry to that place is free but additional rides are payable. This information was absolutely misleading as after wasting lot of time, the information we received (after calling the provided contact number, talking with Hotel staff) was 'Nausicaa of the Wind Tour Ticket' was not located in or nearby the hotel but was in a totally far-off place. No clear information was provided by calling the contact number on how to use the offer as mentioned in trip.com booked package description. Either trip.com should remove that offer or provide a clear description about the location of that place, with pictures if possible, otherwise people will feel lucrative about the offer and go for the booking which actually is misleading.

Extremely satisfied! For the last leg of my Hangzhou trip, I wanted a relaxed, resort-style hotel and stumbled upon this one near West Station, right by the Alibaba campus. It's not a huge hotel, but every detail shows great care. Their in-house pastry chef prepares a fresh afternoon tea spread daily, featuring healthy desserts. Coffee is available all day, and breakfast is absolutely delicious (they use excellent ingredients from Sam's Club). The room is very spacious, perfect for lounging with kids. We went for the infinity pool, with its mountain and water views. The location is nice, but I had to drive to find my room. Even the navigation system couldn't find it, and I had to ask the staff along the way. The only downside is that everything within the resort requires a shuttle bus, which is a long wait. When the bus arrives, you have to ask the driver if it's on your way; if it isn't, you won't be given a seat. There's no one to maintain order, and when it's crowded, there's always scrambling for a seat, sometimes even arguments. For food, we chose the à la carte Chinese restaurant, which cost over 700 yuan. The next day, we went to the pet park, but there were only a few sheep and sika deer, and a bag of carrots cost 20 yuan. Overall, the value for money isn't great, and it's worth just experiencing.

I originally booked this hotel for the convenience of taking my child to Rotten Apple Park (which is directly opposite the hotel, and Hangzhou Paradise is even closer, just across the road). However, the hotel's service was a wonderful surprise, especially the butler, Ranran. She was so enthusiastic, adding me on WeChat beforehand to greet me. Upon check-in, she escorted me to my room, introducing the hotel's features along the way (she had already prepared the child's bed rail and potty that I requested in the room). She responded promptly to all my WeChat requests (providing bath bags, refilling bottled water, etc.). She even thoughtfully reminded me of meal times and locations before dinner and had a deer-shaped cart ready for my child when we went downstairs (my child absolutely loved it). The First World Hotel is a hotel with a strong tropical feel (in a Southeast Asian style). It's very large and has a domed garden with many tropical plants (the hotel upgraded our room to one with a terrace, which opens directly to this garden. It rained on our first day, but there was no rain noise at all in the room). The hotel also has the Yunman Hot Springs, which I didn't get to try this time as I didn't bring a bathrobe, but it looked great, and I plan to come back for it! There's ample parking. I arrived by high-speed rail, and the front desk even proactively asked if I drove and if I needed a parking voucher. Overall, as a family-friendly hotel, it made me, a first-time solo parent traveling with a young child, feel incredibly well taken care of. I will definitely be back! The hotel offers packages that include park tickets, and guests can get a discount on amusement park tickets (I forgot the exact price, but you can ask the hotel).

The hotel is located within the Yunqi Bamboo Trail scenic area, and the scenery is indeed beautiful, especially in the early morning before tourists arrive, when you can enjoy the 'Big Tree Kingdom' all to yourself. However, the room amenities are limited, and tourists constantly pass by the window during the day, so the curtains can't be opened. A highlight is the unlimited supply of Hupao Spring water, but there's no space to set up a tea table. Our butler, Xiao Yu, was very responsive and always ready to help. The hotel also has many other facilities, like an infinity pool and a small animal feeding area, which are great for couples and kids. The hotel has its own restaurant, Wangjianglou, which was quite good. Because it was raining, we didn't go out to find food and just ate there. The food tasted great! 👍👍👍 The service was also excellent. Initially, I couldn't book the hotel for the first night and only managed to book for the following day. I've stayed at Holiday Inn Express several times now, and it truly lives up to its global chain reputation. The staff are well-trained, professional, and courteous. The hotel environment is clean and tidy. The location is also quite good: right across from the high-speed train station and Chengzhan subway station, so you can easily cross the road to catch a high-speed train or subway, making getting around very convenient. The only downside is that getting a taxi can be a bit roundabout due to the one-way street in front of the hotel. However, if you walk out from the right side of the building, you're on West Lake Avenue, and it's just a 2km+ walk to the lakeside, perfect for those who enjoy walking. Despite being by the road, the hotel's soundproofing is excellent, making it very quiet. The breakfast offers a mix of Chinese and Western options, catering to various tastes. The hotel was alright and offered a good experience. The floor-to-ceiling windows were a nice touch, but the interior facilities are quite old. The hotel's location is super convenient, making dining and getting around a breeze. The front desk staff were really welcoming, check-in was efficient, and they were very patient and helpful with any questions. The room hygiene was excellent; the floors, bathroom, and bedding were all spotless and odor-free. The soundproofing was also great, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety, with plenty of hot and cold dishes, fruits, and drinks, satisfying all basic meal needs. The only downside is that the hotel is quite old. The indoor furniture, bathroom fixtures, and TV all show clear signs of age, and some appliances look worn and didn't offer the best user experience. The hotel's surroundings and interior are excellent, like a large garden. The lobby, elevators, and rooms are all decorated with Liangzhu-style features. What's most commendable is how spotlessly clean everything is, even the changing rooms and showers by the pool are impeccably tidy. Definitely a big thumbs up! The room itself is huge, with an empty, spacious living area, and the bedroom is also very generous. The only odd thing is the small sink, which feels out of place given the immense space. The breakfast offers a wide variety; it's not exceptionally delicious, but still pretty good. It's not far from the Liangzhu Museum or Yubird Market. Unfortunately, it rained continuously during my stay, so I couldn't explore much, and the sky only cleared up when I was leaving. 😂 If you visit on a sunny day, there are quite a few places to enjoy. The Xihu State Guesthouse truly lives up to its name. The environment is top-notch, with its own expansive garden landscape, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful West Lake scenery right from the guesthouse. Even with limited room availability, the lobby manager kindly upgraded us to a second-floor room with a balcony, which we greatly appreciated. The room service was particularly surprising and impressive. We left for a short walk, and upon our return, the snack box was refilled with biscuits, and our room items had been tidied up. Then, after another brief outing for dinner, the snack box was replenished with biscuits again. We were a party of three, and when we requested an extra set of toothbrushes from room service, they thoughtfully delivered not only the toothbrushes but also slippers that I hadn't even thought to ask for. Furthermore, we received various fresh fruits delivered to our room on both days of our stay. The room also came equipped with a bottle of Tiger Running Spring water. Starts with looks, stays for service – A thank you letter to Four Seasons Hangzhou at West Lake. Five stars is the highest rating, but it’s still not enough to describe the Four Seasons Hangzhou at West Lake. If top-notch facilities are the entry-level requirement for a five-star hotel, then what truly amazed me about the Four Seasons Hangzhou at West Lake was its unparalleled, 'ceiling-level' service. Here, every time our eyes met, we were greeted with genuine smiles and greetings from the staff. But what touched me most were the subtle moments of thoughtfulness hidden in the details: Before check-in, just one phone call revealed the front desk lady's meticulousness. She not only perfectly arranged our Jin Sha restaurant reservation but also proactively asked if we needed any elder-friendly equipment, showing incredible consideration for my parents. On the day of check-in, Hangzhou was experiencing continuous rain. Since my parents are elderly, our original plans had to be put on hold. I tried my luck by talking to the front desk, and to my surprise, Ms. Jasmine showed exceptional empathy and efficiency. She quickly coordinated and arranged an early check-in for us, making my whole family feel incredibly warm in the rain. The complimentary services included in our package were also a pleasant surprise. The hotel's travel photoshoot, in particular, was absolutely fantastic! The photographer captured the misty beauty of Jiangnan in the rain, leaving me with the most beautiful memories of this trip. After dinner, the rain stopped, and we borrowed the hotel's bicycles for a ride. The doorman was incredibly attentive, thinking ahead for us at every step, from our departure to our return. I’ve written so much, yet I still feel like words can’t fully express my gratitude. Thank you, Four Seasons Hangzhou at West Lake, for giving us a perfect dream of misty Jiangnan.

The room was spotless and well-maintained, feeling very new. It's super convenient, just a 10-minute walk to Metro Line 5. You can easily stroll to famous old restaurants like Kuiyuan Hall and Zhiweiyuan, and even walk to West Lake Scenic Area. It's a great choice whether you're traveling for leisure or business. Plus, the breakfast had a wide variety and tasted delicious!

Olive from the concierge team arranged our entire itinerary and was super helpful with all our requests. Her service was incredibly warm and excellent. The room size here is very generous; we booked a twin room, and the facilities were top-notch. The cleaning staff came every morning to tidy up, empty the bins, and replenish supplies, and their attitude was also fantastic. The breakfast here is also very diverse.

This hotel has a manor-style resort vibe and is wonderfully quiet, which I really appreciated. Its location is quite central, making it easy and quick to get to nearby attractions by taxi. There was a minor hiccup with the room upon check-in, but the staff were very responsive and resolved it quickly. Even during a public holiday, the service quality didn't drop, and there was no queue for breakfast. It's a shame it rained every day during the Dragon Boat Festival's plum rain season; I hope for sunny weather next time!

The hotel facilities are complete, and the hygiene is impeccable. The environment is absolutely wonderful, and the service is top-notch and highly efficient! The staff are always there when you need them, promptly appearing to solve any issues. The complimentary fruits and drinks in the room were so abundant, I couldn't possibly finish them all. After booking, staff called to inquire about my needs and helped me book the Lingyin Temple and Feilai Peak scenic area, make restaurant reservations, and arrange wood barrel baths and sound bowl sessions – it was incredibly thoughtful. If I didn't want to walk, staff were also available to drive me around! After learning my train ticket information, they even arranged a late check-out for me and a car to take me to the station. Upon arrival, staff were already waiting, offering warm tea and wet towels. When I left, staff saw me off to my car and waved goodbye! The service truly is excellent, absolutely fantastic! They even gave me a luggage tag as a gift! The hotel is located within the scenic area, so the environment is naturally beautiful, very quiet, secluded, and a perfect escape from the bustling city. It's truly an ideal spot for a vacation! I highly recommend staying here! If I have the time and the means, I'll definitely be back! In short, this is a must-stay hotel, and it certainly won't disappoint its guests!

First time travelling to Hangzhou and I enjoyed my stay in Conrad Hangzhou. The service was great, appreciate the birthday cake for my birthday celebration. The express laundry was also superb as I was able to receive my clothes before 10am the next day after sending in my clothes for laundry after check in. Thanks for giving me such a great view room, I enjoyed my breakfast in bed with such great morning view and the bed was amazing. I can lie down on the bed whole day it feels like I’m lying on cloud.. almost wanted to buy the bedding home haha. Will recommend and come back to stay the next time I visit Hangzhou.

The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was soft and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom had no strange odors, and the hot water came on very quickly. The front desk attendant checked me in within minutes. The hallway was quiet and not noisy at all. The location was easy to find, and it was convenient to go out for meals and shopping. Downstairs, there were various convenience stores and small restaurants, so the amenities were complete. There were also enough power outlets for charging. It offers great value for money, with no hidden fees. My overall experience exceeded expectations, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling!

Because I worked near Josi, I chose this hotel. The arrival time on the same day was already late at night. I made a note on Ctrip, I hope it is a non-smoking room. The high floor is far from the elevator. The hotel well recognized my needs and was very enthusiastic about upgrading. Considering that I didn't book breakfast, I also gave a free breakfast. Thank you very much. Back to the topic, let's talk about the hotel's own stay experience. To be honest, it's not a last resort, I haven't stayed for a long time. Domestic non-chain brands also have 1 point before check-in. Actually, I think I should give a good price rating. First of all, I think the size of the room is OK, not crowded, and the equipment and facilities are very complete. The facilities are also very easy to use and no defects are found. Sleeping well all night. The breakfast the next morning, I think it should be praised, whether it is the variety. Or the service of the restaurant makes people feel like a spring breeze. Finally, I want to say two small flaws. First of all, the glass in the shower room is too dirty and has been covered with pulp. A little point is deducted here. Secondly, the cold dish cold mixing area of the breakfast room. There are some cold dishes. Unable to clamp, it means that the ice may be too long. The above two small suggestions are that the hotel can improve immediately at low cost. Finally, I want to say a little extra topic. I understand the hotel very much. Need to be praised on a third-party platform. But I personally don't accept it. The active invitation-style way to give praise. It is even more unacceptable to let customers comment according to the wishes of the hotel in a rewarding way. Of course, this is my pure personal feeling. The overall flaw of the hotel is not concealed, it is still recommended to stay, especially in the Josi area. Is a good choice.

I was very satisfied with my stay. The location is convenient, the room was clean and tidy, and the facilities were complete. The breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of choices, including Western pastries and noodles, all of which were great. The front desk staff were super friendly and communicated promptly, and the customer service staff were also very kind and approachable. The room was very comfortable. Wanda Plaza and Euro-America Plaza are nearby, making entertainment very convenient. It's also very close to the subway and bus stations. The hotel parking lot is spacious and free. The value for money is excellent. Although it's a newly opened hotel, it was a very comfortable stay. I will choose this hotel again for my next trip. Five-star rating!!
