**Location:** Very convenient transportation, close to the subway, saving a lot of time for business or sightseeing nearby.

**Room:** I opted for the 'Selected King Room'. The space was adequate, the bedding was clean and comfortable, and the soundproofing was decent, allowing for a good night's rest. Although the hotel has been around for some years, it's well-maintained and kept very clean.

The stay at this hotel led to both bad and good/expected experiences. To begin by the bad, the reception/checkin was terrible (I had to wait for a long time and was forced to ask them two times to check me in, the breakfast restaurant was chaotic (I had to go back and forward, left and right, to find what I wanted to eat and drink, and so was the situation for everybody else, a huge number people forced to do the same…) which did not give a good start for the day, the staff in the lobby were not willing to tell me where the nearest convenient store was located… And now to the good/expected. The location is great: a 2 minute walking distance to the West Lake, a large number of restaurants, shops, cafes, Kerry Center, etc. The rooms was clean and quite and the bed comfortable. The hotel is considered a well-established five-star property in Hangzhou. Although it shows some signs of age, the overall hardware facilities are good. The lobby is grand and impressive, and the rooms are quite spacious, nearly 30 square meters, offering good views. The hotel also features a viewing platform on the 6th floor where guests can admire the beautiful scenery of West Lake. Amenities include a buffet restaurant, meeting rooms, an executive lounge, a lobby bar, a gym, and a swimming pool. Even after the summer holidays, the hotel's occupancy rate remains quite high, with a good mix of domestic and international tourists. After 8 AM, it can even be challenging to find a seat in the buffet restaurant.
The service is quite impressive; the staff are warm and courteous. Check-in and check-out procedures are very convenient, and for my first stay, I was upgraded to an executive floor.
The breakfast quality meets five-star hotel standards. While there aren't many Chinese pastries, options include steamed buns, fried dough sticks, spring rolls, steamed corn, and yams, along with some Zhejiang specialties like Pianchuan (noodles) and Wenzhou glutinous rice. Western options include various breads, grilled sausages, bacon, fried eggs, and omelets. There's a good selection of Western desserts, plenty of fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, and a wide variety of freshly squeezed juices. However, the nut selection is a bit limited.
The price ranges from around 700 to 1000+ RMB, which is relatively affordable for a five-star chain hotel by West Lake. Returning to Shangri-La, it was just as excellent in every aspect as before. The room facilities and equipment were complete, clean, and hygienic. A special thanks to the housekeeper, Miss 'Sky Realm,' who, upon learning of my early arrival, arranged the room in advance. Her warm greetings after check-in added a heartwarming touch to this stay. The room features celadon tea sets, echoing Hangzhou's celadon culture; the furniture has a minimalist New Chinese style, neither overly ornate nor heavy. Right after checking in, I immediately felt the warm service at Zhejiang Hotel. After parking, I entered the lobby without closing my car window all the way, and the security guard at the entrance promptly came over to remind me, which was very responsible! Ms. Jiang Li (I might not have seen her name tag clearly) at the front desk was very enthusiastic and helped coordinate two adjacent rooms. Since one room was still being cleaned, I couldn't get the room key immediately. When I went upstairs, she ran over again to help swipe the elevator card, repeatedly saying ”I'm sorry,” which made me feel very comfortable! The room was spotless, without any strange odors, and the bedding was comfortable. The central air conditioning was quiet, and the TV was large. Given that the Grand Hyatt Hangzhou is located in a bustling commercial area, some rooms can be noisy. Ms. Du from Guest Relations actively helped me switch to a quiet room with a nice view, and her attention to detail was exceptional, for which I'm very grateful.
To be honest, the Chinese restaurant was just average. There were four vegetable dishes on the menu, but two were unavailable. I picked the stir-fried choy sum with pork cracklings, and it was very tough – even tougher than what I cook myself, haha. The presentation wasn't great either; it didn't look like a dish from a Black Pearl restaurant, especially for 98 RMB plus a 10% service charge. The fish with tofu pudding was good, but overall, I'd say it was just okay.
The breakfast variety, quality, and service were all very good.

I booked and paid for this hotel in advance. It's located right on Beishan Road, and traffic can get very congested during peak holiday seasons, so I recommend calling a car service ahead of time. Luckily, ride-sharing apps can drop you off directly at the hotel lobby. The hotel is conveniently next to Yue Fei Temple and very close to Quyuan Garden. Stepping out, you'll find a boat dock, and you can even take a tour bus along the Su Causeway, making it super easy to explore West Lake.
I booked a garden room and arrived a little after 1 PM, only to be told the room wasn't ready yet, which led to a fifteen-minute wait. I was initially a bit annoyed, but the front desk staff was incredibly professional and immediately upgraded me to a suite, which was a very pleasant surprise. The hotel rooms are spacious and bright, with an elegant, antique-inspired decor. You're greeted by a subtle, pleasant aroma as soon as you walk in – truly Shangri-La quality.
I booked a room with breakfast, and it was excellent – a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options. The breakfast was adequate, but the quality wasn't great; the frozen wontons and noodles had no texture. However, the auntie serving the noodles was very friendly and had a good memory. The rooms are clean, tidy, and well-equipped, offering stunning mountain views right from your bed. Step out of the hotel, and you can stroll through the bamboo forest, clear your mind, and breathe in the fresh air. It's the perfect escape for a summer retreat.
The butler service was meticulous and thoughtful. Communication before and after check-in was very detailed, and they were quick to respond to any issues. They were familiar with the surrounding mountain environment and kindly offered recommendations for activities and dining. Their warm and attentive service truly enhanced our bamboo forest trip. **Environment:** The hotel is located near Hangzhou Railway Station, with a subway station right at its entrance. The first floor is a commercial center, which can be a bit chaotic. We were traveling with a baby, but surprisingly, we didn't see any other families with children during breakfast.
**Cleanliness:** As an InterContinental Hotels Group property, the cleanliness is definitely up to standard.
**Facilities:** The rooms have a consistent design, which I've come to expect from staying at many Holiday Inn Express hotels. The breakfast was decent. We visited Hangzhou during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the scenery was beautiful.FromCAD 70

The room was spacious, comfortable, and had a luxurious feel that ordinary B&Bs and business hotels can't match. The service was excellent, and the front desk lady was incredibly gentle and kind. The restaurant 🍴 was the absolute best and most satisfying part – beautiful and the food was delicious. Everyone was understanding and reasonable. The entire hotel design was impeccable; this trip was truly worthwhile. The showers at the Four Seasons Hotel are especially comfortable 😌. Loved it, loved it! Facilities: Overall pretty good, generally new, which is decent for this location.
Hygiene: Very well cleaned, spotless.
Environment: It's quite small, almost walked past it. The parking lot isn't very close; the closest one belongs to someone else, so you have to park haphazardly and can't go directly through to the hotel. However, its location is a huge plus, excellent. It's only a 15-20 minute walk to West Lake, and there are many restaurants nearby. The hotel breakfast is just average, not particularly special, quite ordinary.
Service: The front desk service was great, they patiently answered all questions. They even planned the most efficient route for me to Lingyin Temple, which was a nice touch.FromCAD 81

This stay, I'd especially like to thank Ethan for his warm and thoughtful arrangements. Ethan is gentle, polite, meticulous, and professional – highly recommend! The executive lounge offers a view of West Lake, and the hotel breakfast is also good!
On the other hand, the male front desk staff who checked me in was very unprofessional. He initially said there were no rooms available and that I'd have to wait because they were still being cleaned. A moment later, he asked if a 'care room' would be acceptable, mentioning it had accessibility handrails. After I politely declined, he then offered an upgraded room. After I thanked him, he pretended to type a few things and then said that room was a connecting room. After I declined again, he then said this one was a completely normal room, acting as if he was giving me a huge favor, even though I had booked a normal room! Was he trying to push all the undesirable rooms on me alone?
After waiting for an hour and coming back, the room still wasn't ready, and I had to wait a bit longer! I originally wanted to leave a negative review, but then Ethan enthusiastically introduced the hotel facilities and made excellent arrangements. The housekeeping staff was very polite, and the executive lounge and breakfast were good, so I'll let it slide!! Please train your front desk staff on how to speak. We had a wonderful stay at Rose Garden Resort. The room was spacious and comfortable, with thoughtful complimentary snacks and drinks prepared for us. It was also a lovely surprise to find a fresh rose in the room — such a beautiful detail.
The breakfast was very enjoyable, especially the delicious cappuccino. The swimming pool was absolutely amazing, and the gym with its beautiful view of the pool made the whole experience even more relaxing.
The resort truly makes you feel like you are on holiday in Thailand, even though you are in Hangzhou. The atmosphere, design, and facilities are outstanding.
A special thank you to Xiaofan for her warm hospitality and attentive service. She made our stay even more pleasant and memorable.

By chance, I returned to Amanfayun after a year. Aside from a minor unpleasant incident during check-in (which was beyond their control), the overall experience was perfect.
I noticed the changes the hotel has undergone in a year. For example, the Amanfayun sign at the intersection has been replaced (the old one had more character, haha). The room now has a new Bluetooth-enabled speaker and a capsule coffee machine. The welcome amenity has changed from four small snacks to two small packets in the minibar, and they've added Longjing beer and an extra luggage rack. However, they've maintained what should be kept, like not adding lights, smart toilets, or TVs – these are things I believe shouldn't change.
The entire team was more vibrant, lively, enthusiastic, professional, and meticulous than last time. This visit, I truly felt that every staff member I met could immediately recognize me and address me by my surname. (When the shuttle was taking me to check out, I dropped some personal items on the road. A staff member I saw on the roadside called the front desk. I said I hadn't lost anything, and the front desk repeatedly confirmed with me, but the staff member was so sure it was mine. When they brought it over, it indeed was! 😄). The service was subtly predictive and attentive. The housekeeping auntie, seeing me wandering outside my room, told me I could ask the front desk if I wanted to tour a room, which I actually had been thinking of doing. 👍 At the time, I was wearing slippers, and the ground was a bit wet, so when she cleaned the room later, she left two extra pairs of slippers. She also noticed I used the coffee machine and boiled water for tea, so she placed extra bottles of water in that area. Charging cables were neatly coiled, and a mat was placed under my personal toiletries bag, among other thoughtful details. There was a warm welcome and send-off in every area.
I found out that going to Faxi Temple would take half an hour on foot, and it was hot and humid with no other suitable transportation. I casually mentioned it in the breakfast restaurant, and the hotel immediately arranged a shuttle for me. It was an empty small road, and after a ten-minute walk after getting off, I arrived at the main entrance of Faxi Temple. I was the only one on the entire path, very serene. When they came to pick me up to return to the hotel, they thoughtfully prepared iced water and iced towels. At check-out, I saw a cute little cat lying on my bill, and finally, the staff members saw me off to the car.
I look forward to my next visit. P.S. The hotel is a bit stingy with upgrades! I booked a package that included a free upgrade this time, but didn't get one, especially as a returning guest. ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡FromCAD 1,426

Asked for high floor, away from lift and smoke free room. In the end, got the first room from the lift and a low floor (saving grace is that hotel
rooms start from 28). However the kicker was that they gave me a kids theme room. I checked in nearing midnight after an exhausting commute from the airport, and didn’t request for a different room, which I regret because it did bother me. Furthermore, in the third picture, I don’t understand why the couch is facing away from the TV? When I moved it myself (which was heavy) to face the tv, housekeeping kept shifting it back to the original position which faces the wall (back to the windows as well) which makes no sense ? In addition, even though I didn’t light up the housekeeping light, they came in anyway on the second day, and I hadn’t locked up any of my valuables. To be fair to the housekeeping staff, nothing disappeared, so at least the staff is trustworthy. When I booked on Trip, the only cheapest option left came with breakfast, so I had it for three days. I don’t think the menu changed if at all on the three days, and the food was pretty mediocre. The fried rice was uneven and almost crunchy - not sure if this is a regional thing? And there was no means of warming the western pastries and the pain au chocolat was pretty bad as a result. On a parting note, was wondering if I got the kids room because China hotel rooms seem to have a rep for having heavy smoke smell even if a smoke-free room is requested, so maybe kids rooms are ‘safer’ for the smoke free request in my booking. Also, I have no idea why the thermostat remained steadfastly at 24 Celsius when I tried to reduce the temperature especially in daytime when the glass makes the room warmer. But I was not keen on contacting the service staff but overall, a mixed bag experience relying on the room interior and space than other aspects.FromCAD 248

The hotel's location is fantastic – within walking distance of the Wetland Museum and a shopping district, making dining very convenient. You can take a small train or walk about 20 minutes to Gaozhuang. Breakfast was just okay. The facilities are old but well-maintained. However, it's already 2026, why is the hotel still using such an old hairdryer?! That's really unacceptable, the hairdryer is so ancient. The pool is pretty good, 1.3m to 1.5m deep, with a water temperature of 28 degrees. The changing rooms are also good. There's also a 0.9m hot tub, and another hot tub in the changing rooms. The room had two small sofas, a small side table in addition to the main one, and even a clothesline in the bathroom! It was also quite convenient to get to the 'Big Lotus' stadium from here.
