Uncle RichiMiss Dong's Rivew View Homestay is a fantastic accommodation in the heart of Fenghuang Ancient Town. They offered free pickup for the train station and even helped by carrying the luggage on the short footpath that connects the river side with the road where the taxi stops. At the hotel, our room was upgraded for free to have balcony. I definitely recommend to book balcony because sitting over the river during the evening, having a cool beer and admiring the lights is a unique, calming experience. Entering the room with the window open onto the river left us in awe. Everything was ready with power card inserted. The view from this hotel is absolutely amazing, right on the turn of the river with a view on both sides, very close to the Hongqiao bridge. It must be the best spot in Fenghuang Ancient Town. The room design fits the vibe of the town perfectly. To top up our great experience during this stay, the owner offered us to borrow for free some traditional clothes to wear for the evening walk along the river. In fact, she owns a shop right next to the hotel. We dressed up, and they even did free make up for us. It was unplanned and spontaneous, and walking in the Acient Town wearing traditional clothes at night was magical. We then hired a professional photographer who lead us to the best spots and taught us how to pose. We stayed in Fenghuang only one night, and we absolutely loved it. I highly recommend Miss Dong's Rivew View Homestay!

Guest UserThis guesthouse is located right inside Fenghuang Ancient Town. The room was well-equipped and quite clean, and there's a small courtyard below the room. It would be very convenient for those without a car.
Since we drove, we had to park quite a distance away. My husband dropped off the luggage, and then went to park the car. The guesthouse owner was really helpful and gave him a ride back on his motorcycle.

Anonymous UserThe ancient town is beautiful, and its people are even more so.
Nestled by the Tuojiang River, Phoenix Ancient City Shanshui Lianxin offers a tranquil escape from the bustling ancient town. Its serene ambiance feels like a peaceful haven carved right out of the Xiangxi landscape.
Though a guesthouse, it operates with the meticulous and well-organized standards of a star-rated hotel, showing attention to every detail.
But the most captivating sight in the entire courtyard is Ms. Wu at the front desk. She possesses a graceful charm, refined by the very essence of Xiangxi's mountains and rivers. She's warm, approachable, and speaks with elegant poise.
On the day of my departure, finding transportation in the ancient town was a challenge. In my distress and helplessness, she set aside her tasks and personally escorted me all the way to the high-speed rail station.
No matter how beautiful the scenery, it is ultimately static. It's only genuine kindness like hers that truly leaves a lasting impression.
Thank you, Ms. Wu, and thank you, Shanshui Lianxin!

WodemengxiangshilvxingjiaThis was the second boutique B&B we chose for our Hunan trip, and according to my friend, it's considered the best in Fenghuang Ancient Town. Actually, before choosing this hotel, I was quite conflicted because there were two options. One focused on the view, offering a first-class river view right outside the window, while the other prioritized comfort, including both soft and hard amenities. Ultimately, I narrowed it down to two places: one with the amazing view but noticeably inferior hardware, software, and service, and the other being Tangshe. I finally went with Tangshe because a view always requires movement; no matter how beautiful a window frame is, it's not as good as stepping directly into the scenery.
Let me share my thoughts and evaluation of Tangshe.
**Environment:** To be honest, Tangshe's location isn't top-tier. The most beautiful part of Fenghuang Ancient Town is undoubtedly along the Tuojiang River, while Tangshe is closer to the town's center. The advantage, however, is that it's much quieter compared to the hustle and bustle along the river. For guests who prefer a peaceful retreat away from the crowds, Tangshe is a better choice. Considering everything, I gave it 4.5 points.
**Service:** This deserves a huge thumbs up! Although most of the hotel staff are young, they are all very enthusiastic and polite. The hotel even has two dedicated butlers: one to answer and solve questions about accommodation and travel, and another for food and entertainment. Both were very responsible, and their responses were incredibly prompt and active. What deserves the most praise is the hotel's free laundry service (wash + dry), which was completed in as little as four hours – a huge convenience for travelers in summer. In short, the hotel's service (substantive, not just superficial) far surpasses many five-star hotels!
**Hygiene:** The hotel's hygiene is excellent. Both the rooms and public areas are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. The only thing that needs improvement is the hotel's unique infinity pool. Perhaps because fewer guests use it, the cleaning and maintenance weren't as good. However, after bringing this to the hotel's attention, they took it very seriously and rectified the issue immediately, which is commendable.
**Facilities:** The hotel boasts an infinity pool, which is quite rare in the ancient town outside of large five-star hotels. It's valuable for both photo ops and actual use (very practical in summer). Additionally, there's a small garden and a bar on the rooftop. The small garden has many succulents, making it a great spot for photos, while the bar is perfect for enjoying a drink with music in the evening and savoring a 'cup of life'.
**In summary:** For guests who prefer a quiet environment, and have high expectations for hardware and service, this hotel is highly recommended as a top choice.

Guest UserCame to Fenghuang Ancient Town with friends, and after browsing many hotels online, this one really stood out. My stay here was excellent! They have a gym, and the bell staff were super helpful with our luggage. The front desk team was also very welcoming. The room facilities were all great too. Best of all, it's super convenient for sightseeing – just a left turn out the door and you're at Hongqiao Bridge. The breakfast spread was incredibly varied and delicious!

Guest UserThe entire experience here truly shows the owner's thoughtful dedication. The room was clean and tidy, and the location is absolutely fantastic, right by the river. Being centrally located, it's super convenient for sightseeing. They offer a diverse breakfast in the morning, and in the afternoon, you can enjoy a lovely high tea by the riverside, just sitting and taking in the view. Downstairs, there's a cozy bar that offers a unique 'day coffee, night drinks' experience, which I absolutely loved. You can leisurely sip coffee during the day and unwind with a drink in the evening, all while enjoying the river view – it's incredibly relaxing. The service was warm, attentive, and incredibly thorough, taking care of every little detail. It’s a one-stop-shop for dining, accommodation, and entertainment, offering great value for money. Staying here for my trip to Fenghuang was perfect, and I'll definitely choose this place again if I come back!

To summarize: Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. It's definitely one of the worse Wyndham hotels I've stayed at.
Location: The location is decent. It's downstream from the Tuojiang River, about 500-600 meters' walk to the downstream entrance of Fenghuang Ancient City. Walking from the downstream to the upstream part of the ancient city is about 2 kilometers.
Service: It was okay.
Year Opened: Trip.com states it opened in 2025, but the hotel facilities are actually very old; it's clearly not a hotel that's only been open for a year. It's likely Wyndham acquired it or became a management partner in 2025 and started operating under the Wyndham brand. Its predecessor was probably a hotel called something like 'Huajiang Resort Hotel' (the old sign at the entrance still hasn't been removed).
Cleanliness: Very unsatisfactory. As soon as I walked in, it didn't feel bright and clean. There were paper scraps on the carpet that hadn't been vacuumed, and the shower area had mold stains all over.
Breakfast: In a word, 'terrible.' There was very little variety, even the rice noodles were unappetizing. And surprisingly, they still have those 1980s-style large round tables where 10 people share a table for breakfast. There were only a few small round tables available.
After checking out, the concierge messaged me on WeChat saying the hotel was running a promotion: if I left a 5-star review on Trip.com (it *had* to be 5 stars, 4.9 counted as a bad review) and sent a screenshot, I'd get a 48 yuan red packet. Ha, no wonder a hotel with such conditions and facilities has so many good reviews.

The room was fantastic, exactly as recommended online. The owner was incredibly kind, helping with our luggage. The price was also very reasonable. The hotel itself has a wonderful antique charm, and best of all, you get a direct view of the Tuojiang River. There's even a parking lot right in front, which was super convenient. I even exchanged WeChat with the owner before leaving, so I can book directly next time!

LiuxiaojiegThe biggest surprise of my Fenghuang Ancient City trip was definitely this riverside B&B! The location is superb – it's tucked away from the hustle and bustle but still just a few minutes' walk to Hongqiao Bridge, making it incredibly convenient for getting around.
The river-view room I booked had an unbeatable view, with floor-to-ceiling windows directly overlooking the Tuojiang River. In the morning, opening the window revealed a misty river with stilt houses faintly visible, like a traditional Chinese ink painting. At night, the lights twinkled, and the river's reflection shimmered with colors – I could enjoy the night view right from my bed.
The room was clean and tidy, with a cozy yet stylish vibe thanks to the wooden decor combined with ethnic elements. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, fully equipped with smart facilities.
The owner and staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They arranged airport/station pickup in advance, patiently explained sightseeing routes, and recommended authentic local food. The entire experience was fantastic.
Sitting on the balcony, feeling the river breeze, and listening to the sound of flowing water was so relaxing and therapeutic. This place offers incredible value for money. You absolutely won't regret staying here when you visit Fenghuang. Highly recommended!

The tree house with a view room I stayed in was an amazing experience. It is located in the Nanhua Scenic Area and is a scene within a scene. The bedding is clean, the front desk service is very good, and they help deliver takeaways to the front desk without any complaints.
