The hotel itself has a beautiful view. Looking out from the window, we could enjoy a peaceful river view, which created a very relaxing atmosphere. Overall, it was a comfortable stay with excellent hospitality, and we would be happy to recommend this hotel to other travellers."

Nestled by the Tuojiang River, Phoenix Ancient City Shanshui Lianxin offers a tranquil escape from the bustling ancient town. Its serene ambiance feels like a peaceful haven carved right out of the Xiangxi landscape.
Though a guesthouse, it operates with the meticulous and well-organized standards of a star-rated hotel, showing attention to every detail.
But the most captivating sight in the entire courtyard is Ms. Wu at the front desk. She possesses a graceful charm, refined by the very essence of Xiangxi's mountains and rivers. She's warm, approachable, and speaks with elegant poise.
On the day of my departure, finding transportation in the ancient town was a challenge. In my distress and helplessness, she set aside her tasks and personally escorted me all the way to the high-speed rail station.
No matter how beautiful the scenery, it is ultimately static. It's only genuine kindness like hers that truly leaves a lasting impression.

Although the B&B doesn't have the facilities and services of a regular hotel, and the room size is smaller, the room itself is comparable to a regular hotel. The toilet has an electronic bidet, the mattress is hotel-grade, the shower has excellent water pressure, and amenities like disposable toothbrushes, slippers, razors, bottled water, etc., are provided, just like in a standard hotel. The only difference is the absence of a TV, replaced by a projector and an electric screen. However, the most attractive feature of the room is the outdoor balcony, which has a coffee table and two chairs. You can buy food and drinks from nearby stalls, enjoy the night view of Tuojiang River while eating, and listen to the wonderful singing of the bar street performers 🎤🎶...
The ancient town has narrow paths, and Gaode Maps (Amap) couldn't accurately guide us, so we took many detours when arriving. I suggest contacting the person in charge to arrange a pick-up when heading to the B&B.
Upon departure, the owner arranged a car to take us to the high-speed rail station and even helped us carry our luggage to the parking lot. They were very warm and accommodating. 👍👍👍

UUncle RichiMiss Dong's Rivew View Homestay is a fantastic accommodation in the heart of Fenghuang Ancient Town. They offered free pickup for the train station and even helped by carrying the luggage on the short footpath that connects the river side with the road where the taxi stops. At the hotel, our room was upgraded for free to have balcony. I definitely recommend to book balcony because sitting over the river during the evening, having a cool beer and admiring the lights is a unique, calming experience. Entering the room with the window open onto the river left us in awe. Everything was ready with power card inserted. The view from this hotel is absolutely amazing, right on the turn of the river with a view on both sides, very close to the Hongqiao bridge. It must be the best spot in Fenghuang Ancient Town. The room design fits the vibe of the town perfectly. To top up our great experience during this stay, the owner offered us to borrow for free some traditional clothes to wear for the evening walk along the river. In fact, she owns a shop right next to the hotel. We dressed up, and they even did free make up for us. It was unplanned and spontaneous, and walking in the Acient Town wearing traditional clothes at night was magical. We then hired a professional photographer who lead us to the best spots and taught us how to pose. We stayed in Fenghuang only one night, and we absolutely loved it. I highly recommend Miss Dong's Rivew View Homestay!

XXingzoudehoushayuanThe room was great! For breakfast, they had freshly made rice noodles cooked by an auntie, and they were delicious. There were also fruits and soy milk, all served in the courtyard and lobby on the first floor. The decor was very cozy, giving it a home-like feeling.
There's no elevator, but the housekeeper helped with our luggage, so it wasn't an issue.
The only downside was the lack of a table in the room. Although there was a balcony where you could sit and have tea, there wasn't a table inside, so all the toiletries had to be placed on the nightstand.

The hotel also provides a guide to help plan your itinerary and can assist with purchasing tickets, often at a lower price than online platforms. The hotel is conveniently located downstream; it's about a fifteen-minute walk along the river to the ancient city, and it's quiet at night. The complimentary travel photography experience was a nice bonus.

The hotel itself has a wonderful antique charm, and best of all, you get a direct view of the Tuojiang River. There's even a parking lot right in front, which was super convenient. CcnyehuaThis hotel is right by the river, and the whole building is covered in greenery, creating a fantastic ambiance. There's also an observation deck on the top floor where you can overlook the ancient town, offering a superb view. Just turn right when you leave the hotel and follow the river, and you'll be directly in the heart of the ancient town. The best part is not having to lug heavy luggage through the town. The young lady at the front desk was exceptionally nice and even helped with our bags. There are free Miao ethnic costumes available on the first floor to try on. The rooms feature smart home technology, and the bedding is comfortable. Breakfast is also included. Highly recommend this place if you're coming to Fenghuang! If I had to pick a fault, we stayed on the fifth floor and found the shower water pressure a bit low. I'm not sure if it's because of the high floor or if the showerhead was a bit clogged. I hope they can look into it.

AAnonymous UserIf I had to pick one impressive facility at this hotel, it would definitely be the tea room. The ambiance is perfect for unwinding and relaxing. As a tea lover, this was a huge bonus! The overall decor of the tea room is quite nice, with everything you need: tea tables, full sets of tea ware, clean and sparkling teacups, and complete hot water facilities. It's ideal for a quiet solo tea session or chatting with friends. The shelves nearby are filled with various teas and decorative items, and the environment is wonderfully quiet and serene. After a tiring journey, brewing a pot of tea here, slowly sipping it, and reading a book instantly melts away travel fatigue. The space is tidy and clean, and the amenities are thoughtfully provided. Guests can enjoy it for free, making it suitable for business discussions or a casual break. The attention to detail really elevates the stay. I highly recommend it!

EElena PopovaI decided to stay at the hotel spontaneously, passing by. The name ”Palace” and the grand entrance were off-putting. The price on Trip was reasonable, though twice as expensive as the riverside rooms. I even thought it was a very good price, considering breakfast was included.
They didn't offer me any upgrades, even though the hotel was empty. The only employee didn't understand for a long time that the reservation had arrived and been paid. Then he didn't understand for a long time when I asked about breakfast. I must say, the employees themselves are very friendly and try their best, but the management is completely incompetent in running the hotel.
They don't even have a translator installed on WeChat, and in response to my messages, they kept repeating, ”I don't understand you.” I spent a long time trying to find out about breakfast, and I had to contact Trip support. Trip confirmed breakfast, and the chat also said ok, from 8 to 10 AM. After 7 PM, the employee completely disappeared, leaving only a security guard who only smiles and says yes, yes. The lights are out, so we had to use a flashlight to navigate the stairs.
I went out for breakfast at 9 a.m. this morning. Ha, another employee claimed they don't serve breakfast at all! I asked why he lied? He replied that the ”owner” had ordered a whopping 20 yuan in compensation for breakfast! I used that to buy a cup of coffee... I even needed more for noodles! So, I got a one for service. For lying!
I must say, I was delighted with the glass house! It's high up on a mountain, with stairs, but I don't have luggage, so that wasn't a problem for me. Panoramic views, silence, birds. The bed was very comfortable, the linens were the softest, the blanket was warm. The air conditioner was good, quiet, powerful, and the windows had mosquito nets. The shower and bathroom fixtures were clean, although not new. I slept like an angel.
I have to give credit to the girls who clean the rooms. Everything was beautifully laid out, cleaned, and looked great. But the toilet flush, which didn't work, and the dirty shower drain—those were the work of men who apparently don't run the hotel. All these shortcomings were outweighed by the impression I got from the place and the city in general. I also really liked the cottage itself; it's technologically advanced and comfortable.

LLiuxiaojiegThe biggest surprise of my Fenghuang Ancient City trip was definitely this riverside B&B! The location is superb – it's tucked away from the hustle and bustle but still just a few minutes' walk to Hongqiao Bridge, making it incredibly convenient for getting around.
The river-view room I booked had an unbeatable view, with floor-to-ceiling windows directly overlooking the Tuojiang River. In the morning, opening the window revealed a misty river with stilt houses faintly visible, like a traditional Chinese ink painting. At night, the lights twinkled, and the river's reflection shimmered with colors – I could enjoy the night view right from my bed.
The room was clean and tidy, with a cozy yet stylish vibe thanks to the wooden decor combined with ethnic elements. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, fully equipped with smart facilities.
The owner and staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They arranged airport/station pickup in advance, patiently explained sightseeing routes, and recommended authentic local food. The entire experience was fantastic.
Sitting on the balcony, feeling the river breeze, and listening to the sound of flowing water was so relaxing and therapeutic. This place offers incredible value for money. You absolutely won't regret staying here when you visit Fenghuang. Highly recommended!
