"Overall the room was very nice and clean (besides a few old stains on the sheets). The beds were too hard, but the Chinese seem to enjoy sleeping on a rock so I can't fault them for that. The only real issue was the shower which was always either too hot or too cold. The main reason I chose to write this review was our hostess who was an absolute peach. For a China-lady her English was great and she was incredibly helpful and patient with us when we had difficulty understanding the translations from WeChat and she made our stay very comfortable. Overall I'd highly recommend staying here."

"We had a wonderful stay. From a free pick up at the station to the free drop off, our hosts could not have done more for us during the stay. Our room was a good size and had a great view of the river from the balcony. The bed was comfy and the room was very clean. Breakfast was beautifully presented, very tasty and definitely filling. The Homestay was perfect as a base to explore the Ancient City. Whilst not in the centre of the action, it was only a 5 minute stroll to the first key bridge. We were actually very pleased not to be closer as the pubs and clubs nearer Hong Bridge were really noisy! All in all, we had a great stay and thank our hosts for being so welcoming."

"This Zen-inspired hotel is right by the Tuojiang River, offering stunning river views directly from the window. Fenghuang Ancient Town is quite affordable, and I particularly love how it's built alongside the water. The water is clear and flowing, making for beautiful scenery. The hotel, which has been open for two years, is very clean and the service is excellent. There's complimentary bottled water available on the first floor. The staff even provided us with a recommended itinerary. We hired a local Miao guide for half a day to explore the ancient town, and it only cost 100 yuan (very inexpensive!). She was very down-to-earth. I tried to treat her to lunch, but she politely declined, which made me feel a bit awkward. Both the hotel and Fenghuang Ancient Town radiate warmth, making you want to stay forever. Highly recommended!"

"A serene escape amidst the bustle, this hotel in the ancient city is a rare find, truly hitting the mark on both 'standard' and 'quality.' The location is absolutely unbeatable – just a 3-minute walk to Tuojiang River and Hongqiao Bridge. You can eat, drink, and explore, then pop back in no time. Opened in 2025, the natural wood decor is very pleasing to the eye. The entire room is smart-controlled, and the deep-sleep mattress with combed cotton bedding ensures a super sound sleep. The Xiangxi rice noodles for breakfast are authentic and you can even take them to go; the late-night congee service is also a thoughtful touch. The front desk staff are warm and genuine – they efficiently upgraded my room, arranged transportation, and handled a late check-out without a hitch. If you're in the ancient city and want to avoid the gamble of民宿 hygiene and soundproofing, this place is a no-brainer. Highly recommend! 👍"

"The hotel service was proactive, warm, and thoughtful, significantly better than many hotels I've stayed at before. They even upgraded us to a duplex room, which had very tasteful Chinese-style decor. The first floor featured an open-plan balcony right by the water, complete with two chairs and a small table – perfect for enjoying tea and the view. The second floor boasted a huge terrace with amazing high-level views; truly spectacular. If it weren't for the hot weather, I could have spent all day on the terrace sipping tea and admiring the cultural scenery along both sides of the river. They also added a self-service water station in the hallway, with bottled mineral water neatly arranged for guests to take as needed – so convenient for boiling water for tea! The hotel pays great attention to so many details. It's rare to find such a satisfying hotel. I'm very pleased."

"This hotel is right next to the Maglev train station, making transportation incredibly convenient. It's just a few minutes' walk to the ancient city and the scenic area's center. The butler service was exceptional; they answered all our questions thoroughly and even helped us with our luggage. They also gave us a parting gift. "The B&B's location is super convenient. It's right by the river, so you can enjoy the ancient city's riverside night view from your room's balcony. Plus, you don't have to venture deep into the old town; the B&B's pick-up service drops you right at the entrance. When you leave, it's incredibly easy to hail a taxi from the doorstep, so no worries about dragging your luggage over cobblestone streets. The owner gave us detailed recommendations for nearby restaurants and tours and even helped us book tickets for the Tuojiang River night cruise, saving us the hassle of buying them ourselves and ensuring a seamless boarding experience. A truly excellent stay!"

"This was the second boutique B&B we chose for our Hunan trip, and according to my friend, it's considered the best in Fenghuang Ancient Town. Actually, before choosing this hotel, I was quite conflicted because there were two options. One focused on the view, offering a first-class river view right outside the window, while the other prioritized comfort, including both soft and hard amenities. Ultimately, I narrowed it down to two places: one with the amazing view but noticeably inferior hardware, software, and service, and the other being Tangshe. I finally went with Tangshe because a view always requires movement; no matter how beautiful a window frame is, it's not as good as stepping directly into the scenery. Let me share my thoughts and evaluation of Tangshe. **Environment:** To be honest, Tangshe's location isn't top-tier. The most beautiful part of Fenghuang Ancient Town is undoubtedly along the Tuojiang River, while Tangshe is closer to the town's center. The advantage, however, is that it's much quieter compared to the hustle and bustle along the river. For guests who prefer a peaceful retreat away from the crowds, Tangshe is a better choice. Considering everything, I gave it 4.5 points. **Service:** This deserves a huge thumbs up! Although most of the hotel staff are young, they are all very enthusiastic and polite. The hotel even has two dedicated butlers: one to answer and solve questions about accommodation and travel, and another for food and entertainment. Both were very responsible, and their responses were incredibly prompt and active. What deserves the most praise is the hotel's free laundry service (wash + dry), which was completed in as little as four hours – a huge convenience for travelers in summer. In short, the hotel's service (substantive, not just superficial) far surpasses many five-star hotels! **Hygiene:** The hotel's hygiene is excellent. Both the rooms and public areas are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. The only thing that needs improvement is the hotel's unique infinity pool. Perhaps because fewer guests use it, the cleaning and maintenance weren't as good. However, after bringing this to the hotel's attention, they took it very seriously and rectified the issue immediately, which is commendable. **Facilities:** The hotel boasts an infinity pool, which is quite rare in the ancient town outside of large five-star hotels. It's valuable for both photo ops and actual use (very practical in summer). Additionally, there's a small garden and a bar on the rooftop. The small garden has many succulents, making it a great spot for photos, while the bar is perfect for enjoying a drink with music in the evening and savoring a 'cup of life'. **In summary:** For guests who prefer a quiet environment, and have high expectations for hardware and service, this hotel is highly recommended as a top choice."
