Mountain View Hotels in Fenghuang County

The location is decent, but it's a bit far from the parking lot, which is inconvenient when it rains. The bed was comfortable, but the room was small, and having two wooden beds made it easy to bump your legs, which was quite impractical. Beyond the hotel itself, there's a lot of trash in the Tuojiang River, and the food is both expensive and small in portions. Half a catty of bean sprouts for 18 RMB and scrambled eggs with tomatoes for 28 RMB (both tiny dishes). I've been traveling for over a month, and Fenghuang Ancient Town is the biggest rip-off among all the attractions. It's much more expensive compared to Qingyan Ancient Town, Zhenyuan Ancient Town, and Qianzhou Ancient Town. I visited once over ten years ago and swore never to return due to the poor service. This time, I'm probably saying goodbye to Fenghuang for good. I've traveled through over a dozen provinces in the past 30-plus days, and Fenghuang Ancient Town is by far the biggest rip-off. With such a bad experience and blatant rip-offs, this place has no future.

First off, the room itself was quite good – spacious with a balcony. The balcony had a coffee table and four chairs, plus a tea set, so you could relax there if you had time. You could see the Tuojiang River and the houses on the opposite bank, and the night view was decent. However, it wasn't the direct riverfront view I had imagined. There's still a road and a building between the hotel and the river, so it's not truly 'on the river,' just 'river view.' Regarding luggage, even though cars can drive right to the hotel entrance, there's no elevator. You have to climb a fair number of stairs, which can be tiring with bags, so be prepared for that. It's only a two-minute walk to the riverside, which is convenient for sightseeing. By the way, I found a crispy tripe and lamb restaurant nearby that was delicious and not expensive!

I highly recommend this B&B! The owner is very thoughtful and provides pick-up/drop-off service. My favorite part was the room's balcony; as soon as you open the door, you're greeted by a stunning view. Sitting on the balcony and enjoying the breeze was incredibly relaxing. The environment is clean and comfortable, making for a truly satisfying experience. You can't go wrong choosing this place if you're visiting the area.

We arrived at night, and choosing this guesthouse was the best decision of our entire trip. The location is excellent, truly living up to its name as a guesthouse with panoramic views. From the courtyard, you can see the entire Tuojiang River through the ancient town. The balcony offers an incredible view, giving you a 'king of the hill' feeling that's truly exhilarating. Sitting there at night and watching the ancient town's nightscape is just so relaxing. The room was spotlessly clean, the bedding was fresh, and the quality of the linens was very good. The owner was also very kind and shared some great travel tips.

Our stay at this hotel was a very special experience, mainly due to its spectacular location. It's situated in a beautiful spot, ideal for enjoying the tranquility and the scenery. We loved that the rooms have outdoor terraces overlooking the river area, which adds incredible value. Furthermore, the possibility of watching an evening show from nearby was a wonderful touch. The reception service was excellent: they were very attentive and helped us with everything we needed, making our stay very comfortable. As for the room, while it wasn't very large and the hotel feels somewhat older compared to other hotels in China where we've stayed, it has a very welcoming and charming atmosphere that more than makes up for this. It feels very authentic. Point to consider: It's important to know that the hotel does not have an elevator. Conclusion: A highly recommended hotel for those looking for a charming place with unbeatable views and very personalized service, always keeping in mind that it's a property with a rich history.

Ctrip reviews did not disappoint! I found this hotel based on the excellent reviews, and its location is fantastic, right at the entrance of Hongqiao Gate, making travel incredibly convenient. There's a direct shuttle bus to the high-speed train station right outside (7 yuan per person; ride-sharing services here have a very low acceptance rate). Since there were three of us, they upgraded us to a triple room. The room was spacious and had an 'Xiaodu' smart speaker. The service was excellent; all our requests were handled immediately. During peak season, I'm sure it gets very busy, and the breakfast selection is quite diverse.

We had such a great stay here! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and had such a beautiful view. The staff were incredibly sweet and kind, and always ready to help us with anything we needed. Even with the language barrier, they made everything easy and were always available when we had questions. The location is also super convenient, especially being close to the railway station, and they even helped us get taxis which made things so much smoother. Right outside the hotel, there were also so many local restaurants with really delicious food, which made it even better. Our balcony view honestly felt like something out of a movie right by the river with performances happening and lots of cute little shops around. We felt really welcomed the whole time and would definitely stay here again!

The bedding was incredibly cozy, and the pillows were just right – not too soft, not too firm. I'll definitely be staying here again next time!

The mountains are still as serene as ever, truly embodying the misty Fenghuang. This is my third stay here, but honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. The balconies of the other, larger treehouses were spotless, but mine was covered in fallen tree fruit. It's very humid on the mountain in March, and Hunan has had a month of rain. I expected the air conditioning to be turned on in advance, but I only found a damp bed. Before, staff would contact me ahead of time, and the AC would already be running when I arrived. Not this time – no prior contact, no dehumidification beforehand. Maybe it's because I came during the off-season, and the room rate was very low. My husband loves treehouses, but this time, as we left, he told me that there are hotels like All Seasons and Wyndham downstream. While he enjoys the mountain environment, he really wants to sleep in a dry bed.

The entire experience here truly shows the owner's thoughtful dedication. The room was clean and tidy, and the location is absolutely fantastic, right by the river. Being centrally located, it's super convenient for sightseeing. They offer a diverse breakfast in the morning, and in the afternoon, you can enjoy a lovely high tea by the riverside, just sitting and taking in the view. Downstairs, there's a cozy bar that offers a unique 'day coffee, night drinks' experience, which I absolutely loved. You can leisurely sip coffee during the day and unwind with a drink in the evening, all while enjoying the river view – it's incredibly relaxing. The service was warm, attentive, and incredibly thorough, taking care of every little detail. It’s a one-stop-shop for dining, accommodation, and entertainment, offering great value for money. Staying here for my trip to Fenghuang was perfect, and I'll definitely choose this place again if I come back!
