"I’ve stayed in many hostels before and understand you sometimes get what you pay for, but my stay at Wake Up! Sydney Central was disappointing.
We booked a private room for three with a shared bathroom. The room had a strong “slept-in” smell which seemed to come from the actual pillows and bedding rather than the sheets. The shared bathrooms were also quite dirty, and during our five-day stay I only saw them cleaned once.
The kitchen on the first floor is far too small for the number of guests. Fridges and cupboards were completely full, and with only a few cooktops, sinks and microwaves it’s very difficult to cook or find a place to eat.
The hostel is very focused on partying, with events like pizza nights and free drinks in the kitchen area. It’s also quite noisy, with partying and heavy doors slamming day and night, so don’t expect much sleep.
Considering how expensive Sydney is, this place still felt overpriced. The building is run down (cracked sinks), beds have thin mattresses, and we even saw a large cockroach one day. Staff simply said, “this is Australia.”
There’s also no ramp at the entrance, so heavy luggage has to be carried up the stairs.
The only real positive is the great location."

"The hostel was perfectly located near Bondi Beach and restaurant/bar/shops.
Quiet neighborhood, quiet hostel, and great staff.
Cleaning wasn't spotless but very decent if you consider that is a backpackers hostel.
I've got a room upgrade which enhanced the experience.
Everything is through the phone. Don't forget to download the app before hand.
Was a bit stressful to be sure to don't run out of battery."

"Excellent location for the perfect view of the beach. Plus sunrise.
Clean room with clean beds.
Toilets is usually a challenge for many guests including me. Their toilet is clean with minimal amenities. Water pressure is great.
Balcony is wonderful.
Room door to balcony is not very secure and tight thus the wind will sips through and do not feel scared during the night if you hear “sounds”…
Only 1 lift to all levels.
No breakfast available, many restaurants around at a few mins walk offers. Mac is only 1 min away.
Security: after 8/10pm, the main door will be locked and need key card to tap. This is very good!
There is a casino which has jackpots machines at main level. Can contribute to their economy. I did.
Dinner at the hotel is decent with good pricing. Worth trying.
Overall, this is a hotel I will recommend. Go for it!"

Great
AAnonymous UserThe room is very clean and has a small yard. The layout is quite good. There are just no disposable slippers. If necessary, you should prepare them yourself. Also, the room is not cleaned every day, and coffee and tea bags are not added every day. I guess they are afraid of disturbing customers. However, tell the front desk your requirements and they will clean and add them in time. I am not good at speaking, so we write a note to the front desk every day. In addition, the front desk is unmanned before 8 am and after 6 pm local time, which is very different from China. So be sure to bring the room card with you, in case you can't get in if you come back late. Overall, it is very good and cost-effective.
GGuest UserThe hotel was absolutely wonderful!
The room was spacious, clean, and offered a stunning sea view. There was also a swimming pool downstairs, where we could relax while enjoying the ocean scenery up close. The location was very convenient, just a short distance from the airport, making it perfect for travelers.
Thanks to that, my husband and I had a beautiful morning watching the breathtaking sunrise over the sea.
Everything was perfect, making our day truly fulfilling and happy.

Very Good
SSpizzico• room: overall clean and equipped with fridge and microwave which was very convenient. My room was facing the side of a kindergarten so in the morning after 7.30 it was pretty noisy and during the day also
• amenities: there is a well equipped kitchen, a little small for all guests but it is just about planning when to use it, there is a nice garden and books and games available in the living room
• location: 10 min walk to the beach, 20 min walk to the supermarket and overall it is in a nice quier neighbourhood
• staff: friendly and supportive
my background: I travel 320 days a year since 8 years staying in all range of accomodation from hostel to 5star. I just review objectively what I see with no judgement
GGuest UserThis is an almost perfect hostel, for sure one of the best I've ever been! Great staff, really good breakfast included, billard pool and couches plus the various activities (as well as possible bike, Beachvolleyball etc rental for free!) make it easy to connect quickly. Also, the beds are very comfortable amf the curtain provides some privacy too.
Only point for improvement: an air condition in the room would be great. But the Ventilator worked fairly well too.
GGuest UserOK for one night.
The hotel is above the pub, which is also very busy in the afternoon.
There is also live music there on Sundays until around 9 p.m.
Everything is perfectly fine, unless you have room 10 next to the washing machine/dryer and sleep next to the ventilation. Even though drying and washing is not allowed after 9 p.m., it was very annoying.
The hotel rooms face the back, so in the morning you also have the noise from the loading area of the supermarket.
On the positive side, the room was in a modern condition and the staff were all very nice.
The beach is a ten-minute walk away.
GGuest UserLoved everything about Q station, it is a real. experience not just a hotel, the staff are amazing, nothing was a bother, we were picked up from Manly and driven to reception and then down to our accomodation which is authentic in the heritage buildings overlooking the harbour though the trees, very quite and relaxing. In the evening we had drinks at the Boiler Room again were picked up by minibus and taken back to our room Breakfast at Views was good and it lived up to it's name After checked out we were again. driven down to Manly, great stay, highly recommend it
GGuest UserThe hotel ticks a lot of boxes, clean modern rooms, pool and steam room, and in the best location, very central over looking the beach. The hotel has just had a refurbishment, very tidy with a good bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Only slight negative, front dest - check in could be better and a bit more friendly.
If you want to stay in Manly, this hotel is your best choice, the other main hotel is way down at the end of the beach.
GGuest UserThe worst Father’s Day stay I have had in over 50 years - the television did not work and we paid extra to have a ocean view room but when you look out all you see are high rise buildings and pine trees from the room - if you go out onto the balcony and look to the right there is the ocean - the balcony door lock did not work and was held by a hook and eye staple ( at least that reminded me of my childhood 70 years ago ) - no milk in the fridge for tea or coffee - the bath mat was a hand towel for one foot only so no chance of 4 for Father’s Day celebration - the food was good and the staff helpful and courteous - on checking out I did voice our concerns and was told the manager would be advised.
GGuest UserThis is a good, solid offer for a hotel on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
The rooms are spacious and nicely cleaned.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
If you are here for a holiday though, you would be better off with a car, it's not really walkable to the beach.
The price is right.
GGuest UserThe interior and the shower needs to be updated, very old and outdated. The floor in the shower fills up quickly and not running down the drain fast enough which was quite unpleasant to experience. The place needs heating or a heater as it can get quite cold during the winter. The queen bed was comfortable and warm and the room was spacious for 1 person. The reception is friendly and always smiling although it would be good to know in advance if my single bedroom that I booked for another booking so I didn't have to lugged 2 luggages and my handbag with my laptop into up and down the stairs as there are no lifts. I was surprised that a woman knocked on my door at 9:45am that she was ready to get into my room when in the booking, it says check out is 10am. That made check out a very annoying experience for me. The location is great as it's a short walk to the beach and Cronulla centre.
