"I made a same-day reservation and arrived, only to be told the deposit was $1,300 instead of the original $100. It’s not that I don’t have the money; I had been traveling for three months, so my credit limit for that day didn’t reach that amount. Since the room accommodation was prepaid in full, I asked to check in with just the normal deposit, but they refused to the very end. I acknowledge that this is hotel policy, but I felt like it could have been resolved if a manager-level official had approved it, yet they insisted it wasn't possible. What’s even funnier is that when I asked if they could refund me if the deposit didn't amount to that, they said that wasn't possible either. I’ve traveled to 65 countries over four years and used to be a Hyatt Globalist, but this is the first time something like this has happened, and I’m just laughing because it’s so absurd. I had a similar experience at the BVLAGAR Hotel in Tokyo a while ago; back then, check-in was naturally allowed (since I had paid in full), but they let me in on the condition that I refrain from using the Mino Bar. Here, however, they refused to budge. They claim there are cases where same-day reservation guests vandalize property. I really don't understand how that has to do with a same-day reservation at all. I was disappointed that there was so much ****** in such a beautiful country like Australia, and the hotel was disappointing as well. Of course, I doubt Australians care anyway. Considering that the essence of the hotel business is hospitality, the overall attitude is terrible. There is no superficial ******, but their eyes speak for themselves. This is the first time I've left a review after traveling abroad for four years. The location is good, though."

"They say Australian hotels have bad service, and I experienced this first-hand. Even at a 5-star hotel, the mini-bar was constantly forgotten during daily cleanings in both rooms I booked, which were on different floors. Also, during breakfast, genuinely friendly staff were few and far between. Out of all the days I stayed, only two female staff members greeted guests with a smile. On April 5th, the front desk was manned by a male attendant in a brown suit, with a brush cut and a beard. My parents arrived before me, so he gave them three English menus. When I arrived, I asked him for a Chinese menu. He said 'okay,' but I waited for a very long time, and he never brought it. During this time, I asked two other staff members about it. I told them I needed a Chinese menu, and they both said 'okay,' but none of them brought it to me. I waited for a very, very long time! I couldn't wait any longer, so I took an English menu myself and went to the front desk to exchange it. As I walked towards the front desk, the same male attendant with the brush cut and beard also walked over. I then told the female attendant at the front desk that I needed a Chinese menu. The male attendant then came over and *actually said* he was also looking for a Chinese menu 🙄. In reality, menus in various languages are usually available at the front desk. And normally, when they check guests in, they ask what language they prefer and provide the appropriate menu. The staff on duty that day hadn't placed Chinese menus on the counter and then delayed providing them when guests asked. I don't want to bring up 'discrimination against Chinese people,' but the attitude of prioritizing foreign guests while neglecting Chinese guests is unacceptable. I will absolutely never choose Capella again!"

"The hotel is new and clean, which we appreciated. However, considering the high price, it seemed quite understaffed. After checking out, we stored our luggage there, but when we returned to pick it up, the front desk staff was busy on the phone with another guest, and we ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes just to retrieve our bags. Luckily, we still had enough time before our flight, otherwise we could have easily missed it."

"The location was a bit uphill, which was a little challenging for me to get around (being older, you know! ^^;), but it wasn't bad as it was close enough to catch the tram or bus. The hotel staff were also friendly, and overall, I was satisfied with the service. The room was spacious enough that even with four suitcases laid out, it didn't feel cramped. They provided water whenever needed, so I didn't have to buy any. Perhaps it was because of the great view, but I only have good memories from my stay!"

"We had an amazing honeymoon stay at Pullman Sydney Hyde Park! The room was gorgeous and the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. They helped us sort out sightseeing plans around the city and even recommended an online same‑day Hunter Valley wine tour, which turned out to be a highlight. Big thanks to the whole team for making our honeymoon so memorable. Highly recommend! I attached a photo of the view from our room."

"The hotel ticks a lot of boxes, clean modern rooms, pool and steam room, and in the best location, very central over looking the beach. The hotel has just had a refurbishment, very tidy with a good bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Only slight negative, front dest - check in could be better and a bit more friendly. If you want to stay in Manly, this hotel is your best choice, the other main hotel is way down at the end of the beach."

"There's plenty of places to eat and drink. Plus the location is central to the tourist attractions. Room was big enough for a couple. I requested to have a shower chair as I'm disabled and it was provided for me. We had 2 double beds. Mine was too soft but my husband's was ok for him. Just bare in mind that nothing is cheap. We are not big eaters so 1 main meal was big enough for the 2 of us. We spent 3 nights there. I would do it all again. One place that we kept going to for a light breakfast was G&Tea. The coffee was great! We found that the food was great and not expensive."

The hotel will feature 109 guest rooms including 3 themed suites along with 4 unique food and beverage outlets.

"The hotel itself is brand new, fun, quirky in an awesome location. Great vibe. Rooms are more spacious compared to other boutique new hotels in the Darlinghurst/ Surry Hills area. Rooftop bar is great with awesome cocktails, very friendly staff. For the price however there are few things lacking that detract from a true 5 start hotel experience... Namely 1) No access to a gym (apparently its still being built) 2) my room was not cleaned on Sunday even though I was staying for 5+ nights 3) the body soap in the shower was never refilled so by the end of the stay it was practically emptied 4) mini bar was only restocked when I requested it to be, this included bottled water which the room said was free however they barely ever refilled it. All in all a good stay with a few teething issues. I would stay here again next time I visit Sydney."
