"The room was quite spacious and clean, and came equipped with an ironing board and hairdryer. The TV screen was also large. The bed felt soft when pressed, but was actually quite comfortable to sleep on. The pillows were just right, and I woke up without any back pain or discomfort, which was a huge plus. There's a shuttle service to the airport every 20 minutes or so, and it runs 24 hours, which is really convenient. You can hear planes taking off and landing, but that's to be expected when you're near an airport. The noise was acceptable and didn't bother me at all."

"I requested a non-smoking room, and the cleanliness was pretty good, especially the floors which were very clean. They provided towels and paper cups, but you need to bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush. There are cold drinks available at the reception on the first floor. They offer a shuttle service to and from the airport for $10, credit card only. Just a three-minute walk down the same side of the road, there's a Mexican restaurant which I didn't get a chance to try. Across the street, there's Panda Express and a 7-Eleven. If you go behind the hotel, past the dark underpass beneath the highway, you'll find a McDonald's. There's also a small outdoor swimming pool."

"1. No slippers, toothbrush, or toothpaste were provided. 2. I really enjoyed making my own waffles at the breakfast buffet. I didn't do so well the first day, but by the second day, they were perfect! While the variety wasn't extensive, it was enough to fill you up. However, there were no vegetables, which was a bit hard for my Chinese palate to get used to. Of course, the buffet can't compare to what you'd find in China. 3. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport, but I didn't see the pickup shuttle. I ended up taking the Hilton Garden Inn shuttle and then walked about 5 minutes to the hotel. For departures, you can wait right outside the hotel, and the shuttle arrives in about 20 minutes. 4. The cleanliness was good, the room was quiet, and the large bed was comfortable. Other: There were quite a few homeless people nearby; I encountered four of them who kept saying ”hello, hello.” It spooked me so much that I ended up running. While they are unfortunate, it was still a bit scary. I wouldn't recommend going out after dark. There's a convenience store about a 5-minute walk away."

Daily Mandatory Charge includes: LA Hotel Worker Protection Ordinance Fee, LA Tourism Marketing District Assessment, and California Tourism Assessment. Our hotel, just one mile from LAX, offers a 24-hour complimentary airport shuttle service. Features include an on-site restaurant and lounge serving American cuisine and cocktails. Our hotel also has 3,252 sq ft of flexible meeting space, accommodating up to 200 people. Our fitness center features a Peloton Bike. We're within three miles of SoFi Stadium, Intuit Dome, and the Kia Forum, and within 10 miles of beach cities and Santa Monica Pier.

"First off, the room facilities are excellent. Right by the entrance, there's a fridge, a coffee maker, and a microwave, so heating up food or freezing things isn't an issue at all. There's also a TV in the room; we didn't watch it, but it seemed like it was working if we wanted to. The hotel's Wi-Fi speed in the room is actually quite fast, which we really liked. Of course, you could also use your own domestic roaming, but that usually has daily high-speed data limits. The room's cleanliness was pretty good. If you told the hotel before 11:00 AM that you wanted your room cleaned, they'd usually come around 2-3 PM. So, after a day out, coming back to a clean and tidy room was really pleasant. Regarding the surroundings, even though it's close to the airport, it didn't really affect our sleep at night. There was some noise, but it was tolerable, and we generally sleep quite well, so we weren't bothered to the point of not being able to sleep. Of course, if you're particularly sensitive to noise, I wouldn't recommend staying here because you can definitely hear things like connecting car noise and the sounds of planes taking off and landing. Overall, the service was good. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, whether they were greeting us or anything else. There are also some shops nearby, and a bit further out, there are supermarkets. If you don't have a rental car, a taxi ride to a large supermarket is about 10 yuan, where you'll find plenty of Chinese restaurants, fast food, many Mexican restaurants, Thai restaurants, McDonald's, and other burger joints. Eating out here is no problem. You can take a taxi, rent a car, or use the nearby bus stop and subway station to get to regular attractions; there's no issue there. And for the price, this is considered a very affordable hotel in the U.S. I recommend it to everyone. The subway station is in the pictures."

"The room wasn't huge. We booked a twin room, but the beds were quite large, enough for a family of four. The beds were high, and the pillows were very soft. However, slippers weren't provided in the room, and we had to call the front desk for toothbrushes. Plus, the room faced the road, so it was a bit noisy at night. But since we had jet lag after arriving in Los Angeles, we still slept pretty well. The next day, the hotel offered a shuttle to Universal Studios every 15 minutes, which was quite convenient."

Hotel near Downtown Los Angeles,Los Angeles
In a city of big dreams and even bigger signs, citizenM Los Angeles Downtown brings comfort and cool right to South Spring and West 4th Streets. This stylish spot puts you at the gateway to the Broadway Theater District and Little Tokyo – with museums, markets and taco joints just a stroll away. The metro station is one block over, so you can zip off to the Walk of Fame, Hollywood and Sunset Boulevard like a local. Prefer to stay close? No problem. Our living room has skyline views and a bar worth staying in for. In your room, nestle into an XL king-size bed with blackout blinds, mood lighting, Chromecast and an in-room tablet that controls it all. Free Wi-Fi, 24/7 food at canteenM and contactless check-in come as standard. For working travellers, there’s societyM meeting rooms and Union Station just 10 minutes away. Big beds. Big art. Big city fun.

"This hotel is in a great location in Downtown LA. From LAX, I took the FlyAway bus ($12.75) and then two subway stops ($1.75, flat fare) to Pershing Square, and it was just across the street. There's a paid outdoor parking lot opposite the hotel (I don't recommend renting a car in LA – traffic can be bad, parking is expensive, and California gas prices are high, around $2/liter. Public transport is only $1.75 per ride, with a $5 daily cap, and a $20 refill on a Tap Card is usually enough to get around LA). Safety-wise, I'd say it's decent. It's in a transitional area between the more dangerous Skid Row and the safer Financial District in DTLA. I'd advise against coming back too late or wandering around at night. If you do come back late, it's best to take an Uber. If you're walking, try not to stare at the homeless, and don't engage if they talk to you. The hotel has a live front desk and security. You need to use your key card to enter after 6 PM and also to use the elevator. It feels very safe during the day, so you can confidently go out and explore. Theft and robbery aren't as prevalent in the US as some might think; you'll see plenty of people playing on their phones while waiting at traffic lights, and people carry their backpacks normally. The hotel rooms, while not huge, have distinctive lighting. There's a tablet by the bed that allows you to activate a 'sleep mode' with one tap, and you can control the lights and TV channels through it, which is very cozy and comfortable. However, there's no kettle for hot water. For someone like me who likes hot drinks, you can go to the bar on the first floor and ask the staff for hot water for free. They also have various free tea bags. Coffee and alcoholic drinks are extra, though. If you don't feel like going out at night, ordering a drink and chatting with an American is a great way to experience the nightlife – Americans are really good conversationalists!"

"Got a room on the 4th floor, and it was really quiet, aside from the normal AC hum. The beds, like most abroad, are soft, so if you're used to a firm mattress, you'll need to adjust. The hotel's free round-trip shuttle bus is super convenient. Nearby, you can check out In-N-Out for some cool Instagram shots with planes, and the burgers are good value, but don't expect gourmet taste. I paid a $200 credit card deposit at check-in, so I'll be keeping an eye on whether the refund goes smoothly."

Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars; First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review. The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-) Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance. 1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process. 2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance. Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.

The AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles was a really pleasant stay overall. It's one of those hotels that's more minimalist, clean, and practical. The biggest plus is definitely the excellent location. Being downtown, it's super convenient to get everywhere, whether it's tourist attractions, business districts, or exhibition venues. Getting around saves a lot of time, which is very friendly for independent travelers. The room itself followed a simple and clean aesthetic, nothing too fancy, but it was tidied up very comfortably. It's the kind of place that makes you feel at ease, without feeling cramped or dated. The public areas were also kept very clean!

✨ This time, I had a layover in Los Angeles and chose this Fairfield Inn by Marriott. My experience truly exceeded expectations! The hotel's free airport shuttle was fantastic, getting me directly to LAX in just a few minutes – a real lifesaver for early morning flights. The king room was spacious, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, allowing me to sleep soundly after adjusting to the time difference. The room was clean and tidy, equipped with a desk and free Wi-Fi, so I could handle work without any issues. The front desk service was warm and efficient, making check-in and check-out very quick. The complimentary breakfast offered a wide variety, with hot food and coffee readily available, helping me start my day energized. There are also supermarkets and restaurants nearby, making it convenient for supplies and meals. I'll definitely prioritize staying here again for my next layover in Los Angeles!

Awesome front desk service and staff! Just stayed over for the weekend to attend a Dodgers game. Picked this hotel because other closer hotels had a $40-$60 per night parking fee, while this one was reasonably priced at $15 per night I believe. I wasn’t expecting a brand new hotel, and it was really nice. Only junk thing was our in room fridge was either broken or not plugged in so I had to throw away a cup of fruit but not a big deal. Will definitely be staying here every time I come to town for a game.

Catalina Canyon Inn

My wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised. Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience. Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration. Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website. Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price. The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet. Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

Huge thanks to the housekeeper who cleaned room 225 on June 19th! I forgot my charger and cable, and they actually chased after me to return them 👍👍 The hotel's location is far from the city center, making it ideal for self-driving travelers. There are plenty of parking spaces, though many outdoor spots are quite a distance from the lobby entrance. Hygiene seemed fine, and having two complimentary bottles of water daily is a rarity in the US. The front desk is actually open 24 hours, not just until midnight as stated on Trip.com. As other reviews mentioned, the Wi-Fi is really poor; it constantly disconnects and requires reconnection. The room itself is very spacious and offers excellent value for money.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with this hotel's environment and service. The decor is quite new and clean (looks like it's been recently renovated), and the soundproofing is relatively good. You can hear planes passing by, but it's not too loud, which is a significant improvement compared to other similarly priced hotels I've stayed at in the US. They offer a 24-hour airport shuttle that runs every 10-15 minutes, with a bus tracker, and convenient waiting areas at both the airport and the hotel. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about 8-10 minutes. What truly stood out was their thoughtful provision of three different types of water in the lobby, especially since most hotels don't provide any water at all. If you're not planning on frequent trips into the city center, this is an excellent choice. Plus, there are several car rental services within a 5-minute walk of the hotel.

Decent option for early flights - clean, relatively nice staff, AM/PM right around the corner - a few restaurants within a 10-minute walk. The area has been cleaned up a bit. I wish the shuttle were on a set schedule, but I only waited an additional 10 minutes over the ”guesstimation” of the front desk staff the night before for a 5 AM pickup.

Not bad, not bad at all! It has a great atmosphere, and you can cook, with plenty of pots and pans. Breakfast is included, and you can eat as much bread as you like. I heard there's even a volunteer dorm exchange program, but the downside is you have to work for over a month.
