The Gardens Hotel

The Gardens Hotel

📍 526 Angela St, Key West
★★★★ 9.6 (105 reviews)

"The hotel is very satisfied and meets the name of the Garden Hotel. The front desk service is very good, with you explaining one by one. is that there are fewer breakfast options, and it is recommended to have pictures for people with language barriers. For example, there are four practices for eggs, and I don't understand them at all."

"Great place to stay for escape room lovers… Check-in closes at 9pm, and staff clock out. There isn’t a 24hours reception desk, so if you’re driving down be sure to leave plenty of time and get in contact so that you receive your late check-in instructions, unlike us. We arrived at 10pm, to a locked gate, with no idea what the code to get in was, and as we do not have US phones, were unable to call the staff. A guest kindly let us into the resort, and there is a phone on top of a mail box with an out of hours number. After calling, staff were able to talk us through how to get our keys, but the series of steps definitely made it feel like an escape room. Room: Small and compact room. This hotel is laid out like a series of small cabin style huts. To be fair it had all the essentials, and was clean. The sink was in the room separate from the toilet and shower which was a bit strange. All amenities provided. Unfortunately, the AC unit is very loud, but there is also a fan, which is quieter, and tolerable to have on when sleeping. It is hard to sleep with the AC on. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Free drinks on check in and check out, no nasty surprises with the resort fee, which is $21.50. Breakfast options were limited, consisting of fruit (melon and pineapple), mini-pastries, granola yoghurt pots and waffles. Instant coffee in flasks. Waffles were made fresh by the staff. Plenty of cats were roaming around the resort. Extras: Only a small car park was available, with about 6 spaces. It costs $30 to park here overnight, but there is street parking available outside for $6/hr between 8am-10pm. You can hire bikes to explore Key West for $15 per day. Location: Very lively location, best location, right in the heart of all the shops, bars and cafes, walking distance to all the attractions."

"Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Just a little far from Key West. The hotel has a free shutter every hour, but it costs $20 to take an Uber."

"I usually do not like leaving bad reviews, but honestly this hotel is far too expensive for what it offers. The attitude feels pretentious from the moment you arrive. Barely a smile at check-in, and instead of feeling welcomed, you mainly get a list of rules: • no room cleaning, • no proper parking, • “go park in the public parking” without really explaining where. The room was also not the one I booked. It was much smaller and looked nothing like the photos. The hotel is very noisy. The curtains are not blackout at all, so forget about taking a nap during the day. At night, outside lights come directly into the room, so if you are sensitive to light while sleeping, avoid this place. The pool and outdoor area look cute at first, but overall the property feels poorly maintained and not very clean. The staff was also not particularly helpful or welcoming. Key West itself is beautiful and very charming, but unfortunately this hotel was definitely not the highlight of the trip. I would not return."

"The room was OK, but it smelled a bit like disinfectant when I first entered. Everything else was good, but I slept from 9 to 12 at night, and suddenly the alarm clock under the TV cabinet in the hotel room rang and woke me up. When you check in to the hotel, before going to bed, you can check the alarm clock in the room to see if it is set as an alarm."

"Just like the promotional pictures, it's a small but exquisite hotel! Located opposite Hemingway's birthplace, parking is a bit of a hassle, but we still managed to find a spot. The rooms aren't big, but they're okay. The breakfast is quite good, definitely worth staying at. The town's main commercial street is just a block away on foot."

"He has two locations; the one by the sea looks alright, but the one in the city center is terrible, so be sure to check carefully or ask beforehand."

"There is an unpleasant smell in the room kitchen. The hotel prepared an ozone deodorizer, but it did not solve the fundamental problem."

Casa Marina Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton ★★★★★
"This is the worst five-star hotel I’ve stayed at in terms of indoor facilities. It feels like most of the budget went into the outdoor areas. The private beach is great and the pool is nice, though the water is cold in December. Poolside service is very good, and water activities require advance reservations. The breakfast buffet is a bit expensive at $50 per person, and parking is also $50. Prices in Key West are generally very high."
