"The hotel is relatively old, but the rooms are very large and clean, and the mattresses are especially comfortable. The quilt in the room I stayed in for the first time had a smell that had been through many people, but after I changed to another room the second time, it was very clean. The only drawback is that although it is marked as a quasi-five-star hotel, there is no toilet paper in the room."

"We recently stayed at Illa Experience Hotel after booking it through our travel agency, and overall the property itself is absolutely beautiful. From the moment you arrive, they welcome you with a drink, which makes the experience feel very special and luxurious. The hotel feels more like staying in a historic mansion than in a traditional hotel, and every area is elegant and full of charm. Honestly, we cannot complain about everything the hotel has to offer in terms of atmosphere, design, and comfort. However, there was one uncomfortable situation during our stay that we feel should be addressed. One day, my wife and I were trying to find the front desk staff because we needed assistance, but we could not find anyone at reception. We walked around the hotel searching for someone until we accidentally reached the jacuzzi area, where we found two staff members being overly affectionate and making out. They did not notice us, and the situation was honestly embarrassing for us as guests, so we decided to quietly return to the reception area and wait until they eventually came back. We completely understand that staff members have personal lives, but during working hours the priority should always be guest attention and professionalism. Aside from that unfortunate moment, the hotel experience was excellent."

"We took our teenaged kids (13 and 16) to South America for the first time and could not have chosen a better place to call home for our days in Quito. As an Architect I loved how well the original structure was reimagined. As a family we loved our incredibly friendly hosts (Paula and Juan Carlos in particular - gracias). The facilities were at once highly polished and yet quaintly of their place - including the ground-floor bistro that served up the tastiest daily breakfast we could have imagined. Carlota's location within the Old Town made it incredibly easy to safely explore the city on foot - something we highly recommend to any parent looking for a reprieve from screen-time requests:)."

The hotel environment and location are very good, there is always a police inspection at the door, the security is also good, the pharmacy and various restaurants are out, the Carolina Park is a few minutes walk, our family of three set a twin room, the hotel upgraded the family room for free to us, American breakfast tastes good, Anyway, very satisfied! grateful!"

"The hotel is absolutely not worth its money, the only plus is the location in the historical center. That's all. The room was stuffy, old furniture and the floor creaked underfoot! While you walk from the door to the bed the floor creaked and the cabinet on which the old tube TV stands wobbled! It's just a nightmare, by the way, right opposite the hotels of the same level of quality and service cost three times less and this is a fair price!"

"Good: Among the hotels in Quito, XE's TV is probably the first or second best. Bad: It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. I even suspect that the previous tenant didn't clean it after leaving. I felt itchy when I lay down. The comforter felt like it had been used for 5 years; even the cotton had been washed away. I recommend replacing the comforter and bedding, and cleaning it more thoroughly."
