Hotels in People's Square Area, Shanghai

We really like the hotel’s decor style. The front‑desk staff Candy was extremely friendly. During check‑in, she showed us two different room types for us to choose from. We were very satisfied with our check‑in experience. On my wife’s birthday, we received a cake from the hotel as well as a birthday card from Candy. It was such a lovely surprise. Thank you so much for your thoughtful service!

The only advantage was the location... or so I thought. The cleanliness was subpar. It felt like long-term and short-term guests were mixed together, and the rooms weren't cleaned regularly. I checked in at 2 PM, but walking into the room felt like intruding into someone else’s home—personal stuff scattered everywhere and heaps of hair on the floor. There was an ensuite bathroom, but honestly, it was less convenient than a shared one for the whole hostel. No wet/dry separation for the shower either; overall, it was super inconvenient. The bed base was bad too—it creaked whenever you put weight on it. Getting up early or in the middle of the night was quite awkward and embarrassing... A sign at the front desk said luggage storage is only allowed until 6 PM on the day of check-out, which is a first for me. I've stayed in hostels all over Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, and many cheaper places even have smart bidets. During the National Day holiday, an 8-bed dorm was nearly 150 RMB per person a night—that’s over a thousand RMB per room—and I really didn't expect the facilities to be so, well, bare-bones. The common area was tiny and had music blasting. They offered ”gifts for social media check-ins” and kept pestering me for a good review even after check-out. Long story short, I won't be coming back. Also, frankly speaking, the location isn't even that convenient. You're better off booking a place closer to a metro station; otherwise, it's exhausting dragging your suitcase around everywhere.

1. The location is incredibly convenient, right next to People's Square Exit 5, opposite the M&M's store, and just off Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. 2. The bedding is soft and comfortable, a real plus for those who are particular about the firmness of hotel blankets and the comfort of pillows. Overall, the room was clean and tidy. 3. Dining options are readily available; there's a Subway across the street on Nanjing Road, and a convenience store and a jianbing (Chinese crepe) stall just to the left when you exit. It's very convenient for families with children.

The location is perfect right in front of exit 1 for line of the metro. There is also another exit for the metro around the corner. I don't get the negative reviews honestly they made me hesitant at begining and worried but room is very nice for the price and location. Small yes but it is written in description. Bathroom is clean with good water pressure. The Air condition turns off at night problem you can resolve it with reception to stop power saving mode. And i didn't face issue with noise like otheres mentioned. Overall its a good coice for stay in shanghai.

First, the good points: The washing machine and dryer were super convenient, allowing us to wash our clothes during our trip – everything felt clean and tidy! It rained the day we arrived, so we were stuck inside, but the kids had a blast playing house on both floors. It's about a six-minute walk to the metro station, which is decent. The Bund is just a ten-minute walk away, perfect for admiring the historic architecture and the Oriental Pearl Tower, and experiencing the two different worlds along the Huangpu River. If you turn left out of the hotel and walk one block, you'll find a breakfast spot selling buns, porridge, and eggs at market prices. Now for the downsides: Don't expect much in the way of room service or friendly smiles from the staff.

The room had a bunk bed for two and a private bathroom, both quite clean. They provided tissues, shower gel, and shampoo, but no toothbrush, toothpaste, or slippers. There was a full-length mirror, a table, and a small locker (mine was broken). A great plus was the feeling of safety downstairs with police cars around, and there were breakfast shops and a supermarket nearby. Being on a pedestrian street, the location was really good. It was also very convenient to get to the Bund, about a ten to fifteen-minute walk. For other places, the subway station was also very close, maybe about 400 meters away. I was very satisfied with the location. I checked in later, so it wasn't convenient to take photos, thus I can only describe it.

The location is super convenient, right next to a subway station, so getting anywhere is a breeze. Cleanliness: Seriously spotless! Both the hallways and rooms were immaculate, and the bathroom's wet/dry separation was a big plus. Service: The staff were very patient and answered all my questions in detail. Value for money: For this area in Shanghai, with such cleanliness and service at such an affordable price, it's truly excellent value. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai.

The room was ok but they were renovating the building when we visited which really wasn't the best time. It qas also also a bit difficult to find it at first since you needed to take an elevator to get there and there were no signs in English.
