Ticket Purchase & Accepted Payment Methods

1. Station TVM Ticket Vending Machines: All stations support English interface operation. Purchase single-journey tokens via cash or mobile payment. Suitable for one-time casual rides.

2. Chang’an Tong IC Transit Card: Rechargeable public transport card with 10% discount on all metro and bus rides. Available at station service counters with a ¥20 refundable deposit.

3. Mobile QR Code Riding (Best for Foreigners): WeChat International and Alipay Global support binding Canadian Visa/Mastercard credit cards, no Chinese bank account required. Generate a metro ride code to scan directly at turnstiles.

Tourist Unlimited-Ride Passes

Physical passes available at all station service desks; electronic passes available via official Xi’an Metro App:

  • 1-Day Pass: ¥15 (CAD 3.14) – unlimited rides for 24 hours after first swipe
  • 3-Day Pass: ¥40 (CAD 8.36) – unlimited rides for 72 hours after first swipe

Exclusive Tips for Canadian Travellers

  • Overseas Payment Priority: Most Canadian travellers do not hold a Chinese local bank account. Avoid region-locked domestic payment tools; use only Alipay Global or WeChat International with bound Canadian Visa/Mastercard credit cards for seamless metro rides.
  • Cost-Saving Suggestion: For intensive multi-stop sightseeing itineraries, 1-day or 3-day unlimited tourist passes are far more cost-effective than purchasing repeated single-journey tickets.
  • Physical Token Rule: Always keep your single-journey physical token after entry. The token is required to exit the station gate, and a replacement fee will be charged for lost tokens.

How to Ride Xi’an Metro (Step-by-Step Guide)

  1. Locate red “M” metro signs and enter the underground station hall
  2. Complete mandatory baggage security check
  3. Pass through gate by scanning QR code, tapping IC card, or inserting single-journey token
  4. Follow bilingual Chinese-English platform direction and train route signs
  5. Board the train with bilingual stop announcements during operation

Getting to the Terracotta Warriors by Xi'an Metro (Step-by-Step Guide)

Xi'an Metro to Terracotta Warriors

The Terracotta Army Museum is not directly accessible by metro, but the metro + short transfer route is the most cost-effective and reliable option for tourists. Total travel time from downtown Xi’an: approx. 1.5 hours.

  1. Board Line 1 eastbound from downtown stations and alight at the final stop Textile City Station.
  2. Follow in-station signs to transfer to Line 9 (Qinling West direction).
  3. Ride Line 9 for approximately 40 minutes and exit at Huaqingchi Station (Exit C).
  4. Take the dedicated tourist bus 613/306 or a short taxi ride (¥15–20) for 10–15 minutes to reach the Terracotta Warriors Museum entrance.

Critical Reminder: Line 9 closes at 22:30. Visitors must finish sightseeing and return to the metro station before 22:00 to avoid missing the last train back downtown.

Navigating Central Xi'an: Bell Tower, Muslim Quarter & City Wall by Subway

Xi'an Metro to Bell Tower

Xi’an’s historic city centre is fully covered by Line 2, forming a one-stop sightseeing loop for core ancient landmarks:

Bell Tower & Drum Tower: Alight at Zhonglou Station (Line 2). Station exits connect directly to the Bell Tower plaza. The Drum Tower is a 5-minute west walk from the Bell Tower, forming the city’s central historic landmark cluster.

Muslim Quarter (Beiyuanmen Food Street): Two access options — 8-minute north walk from Zhonglou Station (main crowded entrance), or walk toSajinqiao Station (Line 1) for the quieter west entrance with authentic local snacks.

Ancient City Wall: Yongningmen Station (Line 2) offers direct access to the South Gate, the most popular starting point for wall walking and cycling. Travelers can combine a wall tour with Bell Tower and Muslim Quarter visits for a complete downtown historic itinerary.

Great hotel. Nice, modern and clean. The room was good too. Comfy bed with medium firmness. Great shower and toilet with auto wash. Aircon worked very well. The tv was a projector onto a big projector screen but we had no idea how to use it as it was in Chinese. The lights had some variations but none that let us control the lights we actually wanted on. This could be improved. Location was excellent to the Bell Tower area. Metro stop on the doorstep but a bit of a walk to the actual train line. Muslim Quarter a 10 min walk. Breakfast catered for the Chinese palette. My husband loved it.  There was a free laundry room which was very handy and we got all our dirty clothes washed and dried in about an hour. Check out going well when they gave us a bag of sweets which we thought was really lovely until we realised it was effectively a bribe when the staff (very politely) insisted we do a 5 star review there and then. That request ironically was the one thing I did not like at all. Do not ask try to force your customers to review what you want them to. Reviews are personal and should reflect their experience plus it’s rude!

Facilities: Cozy and comfortable Cleanliness: Spotless Ambiance: Pleasant fragrance Service: Attentive and warm. The hotel's location is convenient, and it's one of the best hotels I've stayed at in the Xi'an market so far. Transportation to any scenic spot is very easy. The staff service is well-trained, and the management actively assists employees in taking care of guests. It's excellent and a highly recommended high-quality hotel.

I stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my birthday while traveling in Xi'an. I asked the hotel if they could arrange a birthday cake, and they readily agreed! Not only was the cake large, but it was also delicious – even better than ones you buy outside. I'm so grateful to the hotel for that. The breakfast was also very substantial. From the front desk to room service to the breakfast staff, everyone provided wonderfully comfortable and thoughtful service. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Xi'an. The only minor drawback was that the swimming pool had some floating lint when I checked in back in April, but it cleared up by the third day of my stay.

Staying at Dongshe Hotel is a must when visiting Xi'an! The location is superb, close to the Bell and Drum Tower and the subway, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing and enjoying local cuisine. The rooms are spotless, offering a great stay experience. Breakfast is rich and varied, catering to both Western and Chinese tastes, with plenty of local specialties available; there's even a complimentary afternoon tea. The hotel also provides free laundry facilities, which is a huge plus for long trips. Excellent value for money – I highly recommend it to all travelers.

Very satisfied! Facilities: All the fixtures are brand new. The shower pressure is great and very comfortable. There's no old or worn-out feeling as some negative reviews mentioned, only understated luxury. Cleanliness: It's cleaned very well every day, and they even noticed we had a child and thoughtfully left two extra bottles of water, which was very attentive and considerate. Ambiance: The antique-style decor is in keeping with the age of the hotel, and both the kids and elders really enjoyed this style. Since we're in a thousand-year-old capital, of course, we want to stay in a hotel with historical charm! There's a bronze carriage in the lobby and Tang Sancai pottery in the room, giving a feeling of traveling back 5000 years. My child even said our hotel is like a museum! Service: From check-in to check-out, every staff member we encountered was smiling and had an excellent attitude.

The room isn't huge, but it has everything you need, with a compact layout. What really stands out is the unlimited complimentary bottled water available next to the elevator on every floor, which makes the hotel feel very generous. The staff are also quite friendly. The Rou Jia Mo (shredded pork burger) at the hotel breakfast is absolutely delicious – much better than what you'd find at most small shops in Xi'an! The bun is chewy without being dry, and the meat is juicy; it really tastes great. The location is also convenient, about a five-minute walk to Metro Line 2. Overall, it's highly recommended!

I chose this hotel primarily for its convenient location. It's really easy to get to all the tourist spots I wanted to visit; I could just take a leisurely stroll there. There are plenty of food and drink options nearby for longer excursions too. Plus, seeing so many women walking around in Tang Dynasty costumes really added to the atmosphere! The room itself was spacious enough, making it a great choice.

My first time trying this place, and I thought it was great! I booked the cheapest room, which I think was a 16-person dorm, but the front desk lady upgraded me to a 12-person one. I even extended my stay for another night. The environment inside is quite peaceful. Everyone in the common areas is pretty respectful, except for a few loud shouts during billiards sometimes! Oh, and there were a lot of foreigners, couples mostly, chatting among themselves – it had a nice vibe. Since it was my first time, I wasn't familiar with everything and didn't prepare toiletries. When I went to shower, I even saw two guys coming out of the same stall, which honestly stunned me a bit. However, the privacy in the restrooms and shower rooms is excellent; they're all enclosed. The hot water comes on quickly, the water pressure is strong, and everything is clean. Everyone seemed pretty well-behaved. I mostly kept to myself, though, and didn't really interact with anyone. At one point, a foreigner asked me in English if he could use a stool. I honestly didn't understand anything he said, but I got his meaning and just waved my hand. He must have thought I was refusing him because he started to leave. I was so flustered I couldn't speak, just waving my hands around like fans, trying to convey my meaning. He must have seen my panic and understood, so he moved the stool. Only then could I relax and continue drinking my hot water alone. (I saw the front desk staff, both a guy and a lady, speaking English with the foreigners, and I was so envious! Ugh, I can only read English; I can't understand or speak it. I really need to practice my listening and speaking skills. I'll try my luck again next time.) Overall, I think it's a pretty good place. Oh, and its location is fantastic, right by the Bell Tower. But make sure you exit the correct subway station, or else a directionally challenged person like me will spend almost an hour wandering around trying to find it!

Love love love this hotel!!! I stayed with my friend in a 2 bed 2 bath room for 8 nights and it was extremely spacious and comfortable. The rooms were very clean and the beds super super super comfy ( I could sleep it in all day but my itinerary was super full). The photos online are quite true to the actual room. They had extremely good service too, starting from the airport pickup, where they were on time and the car was spacious and luxurious! We did the 5 seater sedan at RMB100, the price is comparable to a didi premium but the difference is that they would track your flight and made sure to you were taken care of. The hotel even had Butler service and was very attentive, I could even get them to help store my friend's birthday cake sent from the local cake shop and send it up to us when we were back. The laundry service was handy for a long stay, it was easy to use (and we were on the same floor so it felt like home to just go to and from our room to the laundry room). They even had special prices for popular shows, easily saving more than 50% of the listed price. Thanks for being a home away from home! PS the cats on the 2nd floor is super cute!

The location is pretty good. To the right is the never-sleeping city, and directly across is the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Just across the road is Joy City. One of the lamps in the room was broken, and the overall decor felt a bit dated. Overall, it was acceptable; I'm not overly picky, even though it wasn't as grand as Westin hotels I've stayed at in other cities. Unexpectedly, when I went to a banquet at Furongge next door at noon, I suddenly realized that hotel was much grander and more luxurious, and even cheaper! In comparison, the value for money here was very ordinary, and they're both so close!

Arrived in Xi'an, and a light rain brought a welcome calm to the sweltering heat. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, especially the ones at the entrance. When a car arrived, they'd help guests load large luggage into the trunk and even open the car door. Everything was handled with such thoughtful detail. As for the hotel's environment, it's simply beyond words. The serene garden right before your eyes offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. This is an older 5-star hotel 🌟. There's no butler service, no smart toilet 🚽, no welcome fruit, and no free minibar… BUT it's right next to Xi'an City Wall's Yongning Gate, with several large shopping malls nearby. The delivery robot 🤖 brings food right to your room, and the lobby bar has delightful piano music 🎶 in the evenings. The room soundproofing is excellent 👍. I highly recommend the hotel's buffet breakfast – it's great value for money, and you can try all sorts of local delicacies. You absolutely *must* try the freshly made Roujiamo 🥙 from the chef; it's crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursts with juice. High-tech Zone Xi'an|9.65km from city centre
Just checked out on July 11th, and I absolutely have to give this hotel a big shout-out! Xi'an has been scorching hot lately, like a steaming basket, but the moment you step into the lobby, a blast of cool air instantly revives you. The hotel is located in the Gaoxin CBD, and the Zhangba Yilu Station of Metro Line 6 is just a few minutes' walk downstairs. A taxi ride to the Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City takes only about ten to twenty minutes. Although it's a bit further from the Bell Tower, this area is quiet, with skyscrapers all around. They look especially beautiful when lit up at night, making for great photo opportunities. Parking is also a breeze. We drove here, and the hotel has a public underground parking lot, which is free to use and even has EV charging spots, making it very friendly for electric car owners – no need to hunt for chargers when you go out. Food is definitely not an issue – directly opposite is Yitian Holiday Plaza, just cross the street. We had a Shaanxi meal at Chang'an Grand Theater (Gaoxin Yitian store), complete with Gourd Chicken and Brush Pastry. For convenience, we also tried Wei Family Liangpi downstairs, which was filling for around 20+ RMB per person. If you want something nicer, there's Haidilao, Xu Ji Seafood, and Xiaoxiang Pavilion all in the mall, with so many options you'll be spoilt for choice. The hotel's own breakfast is also highly recommended; the Roujiamo (meat burger) is freshly made, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and they also have oil-splashed noodles – eating them makes you sweat and feels incredibly refreshing. Indeed, the room is spacious, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offer an unbeatable view. The most thoughtful part is the powerful air conditioning; we even had to use the duvet at night because it wasn't hot at all. The amenities smell great, and they provided plenty of bottled water, which was super practical in this heat. The bed was really comfortable, and the soundproofing was good too; I slept soundly until morning. I originally wanted to go for a swim to cool off but didn't get the chance; I'll definitely make up for it next time. The service was also impeccable; they quickly helped us call a taxi when we left. For this price, to stay in such quality, it's truly worth it. Highly recommended!

This saved us a lot of travel time, which was a huge plus when traveling with elderly parents and children. The hotel itself has an elegant garden style, with a quiet and serene environment, lush greenery, and fresh air. It's a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle, providing a truly relaxing stay. What truly stood out was the hotel's service. It was attentive, meticulous, and wonderfully thoughtful throughout our stay, with an exceptionally good attitude. Traveling with elderly parents and children meant we had a lot of luggage. The front desk processed our check-in very quickly, and the staff were patient and detailed, proactively telling us about nearby attractions, breakfast times, and hotel amenities. They even gave us practical tips for family travel, which was incredibly thoughtful. During our stay, service requests were promptly addressed, and any needs we had were quickly resolved. Our room was clean and tidy, with great natural light and ventilation. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the room was fully equipped with excellent attention to cleanliness details. The hotel's thoughtful details for our family trip truly enhanced our overall experience, making everyone feel very welcome and comfortable. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive, with clean and tidy public areas, offering a tranquil and comfortable environment.

Dear Housekeeping Department of HUAQING YUTANG Hotel and all the wonderful staff who have taken such meticulous care of us: Greetings and blessings to you all! As international visitors from Russia, my son and I had the privilege of checking into your esteemed establishment today. As I sit in this room, imbued with an undeniable oriental charm, my heart is filled not only with inexpressible emotion but also with profound awe. Walking through your property feels like stepping into a magnificent Tang Dynasty painting that has been passed down through a thousand years – truly, 'every step is a beautiful scene, every corner is a wonder'! Each pavilion, every bridge and flowing stream is breathtakingly beautiful, leaving us spellbound and enchanted. The joy and pleasure we feel within are simply beyond words. Your hotel's exceptional service, transcending perfection, combined with these exquisite imperial gardens, has utterly captivated us and made our dream of experiencing Chinese culture come true! As a professional tea ceremony artist in Russia dedicated to spreading oriental tea culture, seeing the exquisitely prepared tea set in the room immediately filled my heart with warmth. While I typically use traditional wooden tea trays, I was genuinely amazed to find that your room was equipped with a remarkably beautiful and incredibly rare metal (iron) miniature tea tray! I have never seen such an ingeniously crafted material in Russia. This metal tea tray is perfect for brewing tea; there's no need to worry about it cracking or deforming from prolonged tea soaking, as wooden trays often do. The user experience is incredibly comfortable and elegant. Moreover, its size is designed with exceptional precision, perfectly accommodating two precious pairs of tea cups (including tasting cups and aroma-sniffing cups). To be able to personally brew a pot of fragrant tea with such a sophisticated tea set, which combines modern practicality with classical grandeur, after a tiring journey, truly touched the soul of an international tea connoisseur with your utmost respect for the details of tea ceremony and your impeccable taste. What moved our entire family even more deeply and will remain unforgettable are the unparalleled human touches and care you all provided in every small detail: 1. What truly astonished and delighted us was that your hotel meticulously selected and reserved prime, central VIP seats for us to watch 'The Song of Everlasting Sorrow' live Tang Dynasty dance drama! Our seats were perfectly aligned with the central axis of the stage, offering a grand and unobstructed view. Tonight, we were able to fully appreciate the awe and romance of this magnificent spectacle from the most perfect and esteemed vantage point. Our hearts were stirred for a long time afterward; it was an unparalleled artistic enjoyment! 2. Upon hearing that my son's sunglasses were accidentally damaged, your team not only showed no hesitation but proactively and incredibly patiently helped him repair them with glue. The summer sun in Xi'an is scorching, and my son is extremely sensitive to light. What you repaired with your own hands was not just a pair of glasses, but you saved his most beautiful, clear memories of this ancient city! 3. Whether it was my request for ice or any other small request, all the staff members responded perfectly every single time with the quickest speed and the most gentle, respectful smiles. 4. When we returned to our room, a little tired after a fulfilling day of intangible cultural heritage experiences, we were greeted by a steaming hot, incredibly delicious bowl of white mushroom imperial porridge. At that moment, a warmth transcending borders struck our hearts, and the fatigue of the journey instantly vanished, replaced by a heart full of warmth. Today, we had the privilege of experiencing two flowing and profoundly rich intangible cultural heritage master classes, truly fulfilling my son's and my dream of experiencing Tang Dynasty culture. Please accept our sincerest and highest gratitude as mother and son! Upon returning to Russia, I will certainly recommend our beautiful photos from HUAQING YUTANG and this dreamlike experience with the utmost praise to all our friends and family. I will also write the most glowing review on international travel platforms.

This was a spontaneous, short trip, a perfect reminder that plans often yield to the unexpected. Here I am in Xi'an, at the foot of the Qinling Mountains, longing to open my arms and embrace nature. I soaked in the cool breeze, the fragrant blossoms, and the gentle chirping of birds that seemed to whisper secrets. Every tiny flower here possesses a unique beauty; they don't need to be dazzling, yet their charm is utterly irresistible. It served as a beautiful reminder: you don't need to please anyone, and true happiness isn't given but earned through your own smile. I cherished the tranquility, the white swing nestled among flowers, and the vibrant green pomegranate trees adorned with their distinctive red blossoms. The shaded courtyard was a delight, featuring brightly colored rocking chairs, sun umbrellas, and a small pebble-built stream with stone and wooden bridges. In the stream, around twenty fluffy, super cute ducklings swam playfully, even hiding under lily pads when the sun grew strong. Two brown goats contentedly grazed on the lush green grass. I even playfully called out, 'Hello there, goat, can we be friends?' Haha, a unique soul indeed! The 'Eight-Point Black' rabbits were a constant favorite with the kids, and a proud white fox enjoyed its spacious cage – perhaps not its ideal home, but certainly one where its neighbors posed no challenge! Then there were the flocks of big white geese, honking away with gusto. There's also a vegetable garden, still growing. I hope to taste its fresh produce when I return – what a lovely thought! The evening scenery was enchanting, with countless small lights twinkling like stars in the sky. If you're feeling musical, you can even grab a microphone and sing a few songs. The rooms themselves were very comfortable, clean, and hygienic. For those with energy, brewing a pot of tea and chatting about life is a wonderful option. I love this place so much that I'll definitely be back. It's a perfect spot to record life's beautiful moments and ponder its many inspiring mottos. **Facilities:** Excellent, adorning the rooms like works of art. **Cleanliness:** Impeccable, with great attention to detail. **Ambiance:** Beautiful and spacious. I particularly enjoyed brewing tea by the floor-to-ceiling window while admiring the natural scenery outside. **Service:** The staff, especially one kind lady, was incredibly thoughtful and attentive. **Parting Gift:** Upon check-out, they even prepared a lovely gift for us, including a variety of snacks that children absolutely adored.

The bathroom facilities were complete, with a stable hot water supply, and the toiletries were of good quality. The public areas were tidy and grand, and the attention to cleanliness was impressive, especially the small details. A special shout-out to the handwritten card in the family room for guests with children – it was a really heartwarming touch. The housekeeping staff even noticed we drank a lot of water and proactively left two extra bottles in our room with another handwritten note. These small details show how genuinely dedicated the staff are to their guests. Overall, it offers excellent value for money and is perfect for both leisure travel and business stays. I would definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit.

It's super convenient for taking a taxi or the subway, and close to the city wall and Bell Tower. When it's hot, you can just stroll around the Shuyuanmen commercial street. In the evenings, there's live band music downstairs. The breakfast spread at the restaurant is extensive, and the aunties serving there are really enthusiastic. The restaurant also has a terrace with an amazing view of the city wall across the moat. The front desk even gave a small gift to my child before we checked out. On my holiday, I brought my child to Xi'an and chose the Sofitel Legend inside the city walls. I booked a package on Ctrip, and the price was excellent. The hotel's location is superb, convenient for getting anywhere, and there are tons of options for food delivery. The entire hotel offers a quiet retreat amidst the hustle and bustle; as soon as you step through the main entrance, you're shielded from the city's vibrancy. The soundproofing in the rooms is also fantastic, ensuring a great night's sleep every night. The staff in all areas of the hotel are incredibly warm and professional. They always greet you enthusiastically and proactively offer various services; we felt very well taken care of during our stay. The hotel itself is compact and exquisite, with all the facilities and services you could need. There's a pool and a gym; the pool was often empty, so we had it all to ourselves! The minibar in the room comes with chocolates and a variety of drinks, plus a coffee machine. Every evening, there's a turndown service that includes cookies or small snacks and milk. The bedding is also very comfortable. The breakfast spread is extensive, with plenty to eat each day. The à la carte menu offers a wide selection of local delicacies and both Chinese and Western dishes, and it's available until 10:30 AM, which is perfect for late risers! What's more, the hotel is simply beautiful; every picture you take turns out great. Friends who love getting good photos should definitely consider staying here, as both the rooms and public areas are very photogenic. I'll definitely choose this hotel again when I come back to Xi'an. Oh, and the toiletries are also very comprehensive; you only need to bring your own skincare products. The sewing kit was a pleasant surprise – even the thread was already pre-threaded!

Overall, the room was good. It's right next to the subway station and very close to the Bell Tower, making it super convenient for getting around. The only minor issue was that the air conditioning in the room was a bit noisy, but since I was so tired from exploring all day, I fell asleep right away, so it didn't really bother me. Service: Every lady at the front desk was kind and extremely attentive. We checked out a bit late, and they extended our checkout time to 3 PM, which was really thoughtful. The staff even helped us with our luggage to the car and offered us drinks. Cleanliness: The room was tidy and comfortable, and the bedding and bath amenities were very clean. However, the pillows had a slight odor of hair oil. Environment: The surrounding area has convenient transportation. The Xigong University subway station is just a few minutes' walk away, including a pedestrian overpass. There are also street food vendors just a few steps away. My only complaint is that Xi'an surprisingly doesn't have shared e-bikes, only shared bicycles. Riding a bicycle to tourist attractions will make you question your life choices. I recommend taking a taxi or, if you're looking for a more affordable option, combining it with subway transfers.

I did a lot of research for my trip to Xi'an and finally settled on this hotel. The location is absolutely unbeatable. Xiangzimiao Street is right downstairs, full of unique shops. It was so convenient to explore late into the evening and just walk a few steps back to the hotel. The biggest surprise was the fourth-floor terrace. Having breakfast there in the morning was a real 'wow' moment! It faces directly onto the Yongning Gate city wall, and the view is just incredible. Every photo I took looked great, and so many people asked me which hotel it was when I posted them. The breakfast tasted delicious, and I recommend the beef noodles. Honestly, just sitting there and eating felt so atmospheric. The room itself was very clean, the bedding was comfortable, and the bathroom's wet/dry separation was well-done. My only minor regret is that the bar street downstairs can be a bit noisy at night, but the hotel provides earplugs, so I was still able to sleep. Overall, it's excellent value for money, and I'd definitely stay here again when I bring my parents next time.

Right across from the Drum Tower, the location is excellent. The room was clean, tidy, spacious, and bright, with a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom. The staff cleaned punctually every day. When checking out, the front desk lady even asked if I needed two bottles of warm mineral water, which was very thoughtful. The only minor drawback is that the room isn't soundproof. However, I still love staying at Ji Hotel; I like its layout, the small tea table, and the black tea is good too.
