Ticket Purchase & Accepted Payment Methods

1. Station TVM Ticket Vending Machines: All stations support English interface operation. Purchase single-journey tokens via cash or mobile payment. Suitable for one-time casual rides.

2. Chang’an Tong IC Transit Card: Rechargeable public transport card with 10% discount on all metro and bus rides. Available at station service counters with a ¥20 refundable deposit.

3. Mobile QR Code Riding (Best for Foreigners): WeChat International and Alipay Global support binding Canadian Visa/Mastercard credit cards, no Chinese bank account required. Generate a metro ride code to scan directly at turnstiles.

Tourist Unlimited-Ride Passes

Physical passes available at all station service desks; electronic passes available via official Xi’an Metro App:

  • 1-Day Pass: ¥15 (CAD 3.14) – unlimited rides for 24 hours after first swipe
  • 3-Day Pass: ¥40 (CAD 8.36) – unlimited rides for 72 hours after first swipe

Exclusive Tips for Canadian Travellers

  • Overseas Payment Priority: Most Canadian travellers do not hold a Chinese local bank account. Avoid region-locked domestic payment tools; use only Alipay Global or WeChat International with bound Canadian Visa/Mastercard credit cards for seamless metro rides.
  • Cost-Saving Suggestion: For intensive multi-stop sightseeing itineraries, 1-day or 3-day unlimited tourist passes are far more cost-effective than purchasing repeated single-journey tickets.
  • Physical Token Rule: Always keep your single-journey physical token after entry. The token is required to exit the station gate, and a replacement fee will be charged for lost tokens.

How to Ride Xi’an Metro (Step-by-Step Guide)

  1. Locate red “M” metro signs and enter the underground station hall
  2. Complete mandatory baggage security check

Getting to the Terracotta Warriors by Xi'an Metro (Step-by-Step Guide)

Xi'an Metro to Terracotta Warriors

The Terracotta Army Museum is not directly accessible by metro, but the metro + short transfer route is the most cost-effective and reliable option for tourists. Total travel time from downtown Xi’an: approx. 1.5 hours.

  1. Board Line 1 eastbound from downtown stations and alight at the final stop Textile City Station.
  2. Follow in-station signs to transfer to Line 9 (Qinling West direction).
  3. Ride Line 9 for approximately 40 minutes and exit at Huaqingchi Station (Exit C).
  4. Take the dedicated tourist bus 613/306 or a short taxi ride (¥15–20) for 10–15 minutes to reach the Terracotta Warriors Museum entrance.

Critical Reminder: Line 9 closes at 22:30. Visitors must finish sightseeing and return to the metro station before 22:00 to avoid missing the last train back downtown.

Navigating Central Xi'an: Bell Tower, Muslim Quarter & City Wall by Subway

Xi'an Metro to Bell Tower

Xi’an’s historic city centre is fully covered by Line 2, forming a one-stop sightseeing loop for core ancient landmarks:

Bell Tower & Drum Tower: Alight at Zhonglou Station (Line 2). Station exits connect directly to the Bell Tower plaza. The Drum Tower is a 5-minute west walk from the Bell Tower, forming the city’s central historic landmark cluster.

Muslim Quarter (Beiyuanmen Food Street): Two access options — 8-minute north walk from Zhonglou Station (main crowded entrance), or walk toSajinqiao Station (Line 1) for the quieter west entrance with authentic local snacks.

Ancient City Wall: Yongningmen Station (Line 2) offers direct access to the South Gate, the most popular starting point for wall walking and cycling. Travelers can combine a wall tour with Bell Tower and Muslim Quarter visits for a complete downtown historic itinerary.

This was my first time staying at this hotel for four nights, and I'd like to share my experience. The hotel is conveniently located near the Bell and Drum Towers, with a subway station right outside, making it super easy to get around. Plus, there's a street dedicated to local delicacies right next door, perfect for trying authentic flavors. All the hotel facilities were in perfect condition (large TV, smart toilet, mini-fridge, coffee machine, etc.). What really stood out was the thoughtful touch during the hot summer days: each floor had a common area with a table piled high with dozens of complimentary bottled water 24/7 for guests – something you don't often see in other hotels. Every afternoon, there was a lovely tea service in the lobby lounge, offering coffee, tea, fruits, and exquisite pastries. Finally, let's talk about the service. As soon as we arrived, a staff member was there to help us with our luggage and escort us to the lobby on the second floor. The front desk lady (WeChat name: 'If one day') was incredibly enthusiastic. She even upgraded our room and gave us a detailed overview of all the hotel's services. From now on, Novotel will definitely be one of my top choices for future travels.

Room Type: The furniture is a bit old, but the room is very quiet, comfortable, and spacious. Location: It's super convenient – just a two-minute walk downstairs to Longshouyuan Station on Line 2. There's also a shopping mall and a food street right across the street. Service: On the first night, there was a small issue with the air conditioning that was temporarily fixed, and then fully resolved the next day. You can really feel the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. Thumbs up! Cleanliness: Very clean, and the cleaning staff were very polite. Food: This is my second time in Xi'an, and this hotel has the best breakfast I've had. The bread is delicious, and the Chinese dishes are authentic. Overall, the hotel is excellent. The location is convenient, and the service quality is great. Definitely worth coming back to.

I stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my birthday while traveling in Xi'an. I asked the hotel if they could arrange a birthday cake, and they readily agreed! Not only was the cake large, but it was also delicious – even better than ones you buy outside. I'm so grateful to the hotel for that. The breakfast was also very substantial. From the front desk to room service to the breakfast staff, everyone provided wonderfully comfortable and thoughtful service. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Xi'an. The only minor drawback was that the swimming pool had some floating lint when I checked in back in April, but it cleared up by the third day of my stay.

I have to give a huge shout-out to our butler, Star! Their service was incredibly thoughtful and attentive throughout our stay. Any request we had was met with an immediate response, and they truly went above and beyond, making our experience absolutely fantastic. The hotel's amenities are top-notch and incredibly complete – the laundry room, gym, and parking are all free to use, making everything super convenient whether you're out and about or just relaxing. The breakfast buffet and afternoon tea offer a wide variety of choices, and the food itself is delicious and doesn't disappoint. Our room was spacious, tidy, and spotless, making our stay extra comfortable. I'll definitely be looking for Star again on my next visit!

I brought my little one to Xi'an for a trip. We visited the Terracotta Army, Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Bell and Drum Towers, Xi'an City Wall, and the Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City, among other places. We stayed at this hotel for all five days. The hotel's location in the old city is excellent, making it convenient to get to all the attractions. There are also many Xi'an specialty snack shops nearby, so dining out was easy. As an established five-star hotel, both the facilities and service were top-notch. The hotel breakfast was plentiful, and the heated pool was lovely!

This Holiday Inn Express, located right by the Bell and Drum Towers, is in a fantastic spot. It's just a few minutes' walk to the Bell and Drum Towers and the Muslim Quarter, and the subway is conveniently close, making getting around a breeze. The rooms are spotless and dry, and even though it's on a busy street, the soundproofing is excellent, so we slept soundly. The front desk staff were efficient, and the breakfast included a good variety of local snacks. Plus, they offer free Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) for guests to try on, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's great value for money, and I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Xi'an.

My stay in Ramada is very good especially the excellent service I received from front desk staff Jason Yang who helped me with local assistance.. The hotel is well located within walking distance to the Bell tower and Muslim Hui Food Street, which is bustling at night. Nearby across the road there is a couple of restaurants serving dumpling which is a welcome change for spicy and oily food I have from Urumqi. Hence the hotel is in a good location for local food.

Facilities: I've been staying at this Xi'an location since it opened until this year. The facilities might be a bit older compared to some of the newer Backpacker Ten-Year establishments. Cleanliness: The room attendants always clean the rooms thoroughly, but there are always some inconsiderate guests who litter, and the waste bins in the bathrooms are often full of paper. The shower area can also be slippery at times. Environment: The environment is excellent, no complaints there. From the inside out, the staff – including the front desk ladies and gentlemen and the cleaning aunties – keep everything very tidy. Service: The front desk staff are all quite good; at the very least, they always accommodate any requests I have.

Environment: The hotel's overall environment is excellent, and the view from my reserved room was particularly good. Service: The ladies at the front desk who handled check-in and check-out were super nice! The disposable bathtub liner needs to be requested at the front desk. It seems a young man named Peter delivered it to my room. After I asked for the liner at the front desk, I went to the gym for a bit, and he was waiting right outside my room door when I returned. His attitude was really great! The front desk lady spoke very gently (I forgot her name). Facilities: My room was on the 12th floor. The 220v socket for the hairdryer at the vanity wasn't working. I mentioned it to the front desk lady when checking out, and she was very understanding and polite. Hygiene: The hygiene was impeccable, really good. Facilities: The hotel room came with an independent ironing board and iron, as well as a flashlight and a safe. There were also plenty of hangers, about 8-10 of them. This is the best-equipped hotel I've stayed in for years. The hotel's location on the Bahe River offers great views, though it's a bit far from the city center. But picture 2, taken on my first day, shows the truly beautiful scenery. Picture 1 was taken on a rainy, overcast day when I was leaving. One small suggestion: it would be more convenient if the bathtub liner could be placed in the room's vanity area, along with toothbrushes and other amenities.

Love love love this hotel!!! I stayed with my friend in a 2 bed 2 bath room for 8 nights and it was extremely spacious and comfortable. The rooms were very clean and the beds super super super comfy ( I could sleep it in all day but my itinerary was super full). The photos online are quite true to the actual room. They had extremely good service too, starting from the airport pickup, where they were on time and the car was spacious and luxurious! We did the 5 seater sedan at RMB100, the price is comparable to a didi premium but the difference is that they would track your flight and made sure to you were taken care of. The hotel even had Butler service and was very attentive, I could even get them to help store my friend's birthday cake sent from the local cake shop and send it up to us when we were back. The laundry service was handy for a long stay, it was easy to use (and we were on the same floor so it felt like home to just go to and from our room to the laundry room). They even had special prices for popular shows, easily saving more than 50% of the listed price. Thanks for being a home away from home! PS the cats on the 2nd floor is super cute!

Dayan Pagoda/The Grand Tang Mall Xi'an|5.15km from city centre
Choosing to stay at The Westin for my trip to Xi'an was an absolutely brilliant decision! Before coming to Xi'an, I read a lot of guides, and many people recommended staying near the Bell Tower because it's in the city center and convenient for getting everywhere. However, I knew I'd definitely want to visit Datang Everbright City, and getting a taxi back from there can be tough, while the subway is often crowded. So, I decided to stay near Datang Everbright City, ideally somewhere I could walk back to the hotel from. It turns out I made the perfect choice! Location: The Westin's location is incredible! Right outside, you have the Great Ci'en Temple and Grand Tang Mall, and you can reach the best photo spot for the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda just by stepping out. Datang Everbright City is just around the corner, a short walk away, and you can even see the pedestrian street from your room. It's also only an 11-minute drive to the Shaanxi History Museum – so convenient! Ambiance: The hotel's interior decor is simple and not overly luxurious, but it's very clean and tidy. The rooms are too. Breakfast: There's a wide variety of dishes, and the food tastes excellent, especially the stir-fried dishes – they were really good! The stir-fried bitter melon with egg, stir-fried lettuce with egg white, and stir-fried honey beans were particularly delicious, and you could tell the ingredients were super fresh. I rarely praise a hotel's breakfast stir-fries this much. The only minor drawback was the doormen on the first and second days; they completely ignored guests getting in and out of cars, which was a first for me. However, the doorman I met on my departure was very helpful and assisted with loading my luggage into the car. Overall, a very satisfying stay. If I get the chance to visit Xi'an again, I'll definitely choose to stay here.

Xi'an, as a tourist city, has truly excellent infrastructure, and the local hotel services are top-notch. This hotel, from its service to its facilities, is very good. Although it's not brand new, it doesn't affect its quality. It's very satisfactory. The hotel even offered two complimentary photo shoots, and the photography was professional – a nice keepsake for the kids. The sour soup noodles were delicious. It's not super close to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, about 1.7 kilometers away. One thing to note is that the hotel's swimming pool water quality was quite poor, and I saw a child cut their foot, so that's something to be aware of.

💒 What an amazing stay at the Grand Hyatt for 520/521! The hotel was incredibly thoughtful and upgraded our room, and Judy's service truly stood out – she deserves a special shoutout! 👍 The suite we stayed in was super spacious and had a fantastic ambiance. The staff even took the time to beautifully decorate the room, paying attention to every detail, which made it feel extra special and ceremonial ✨. The package we booked included breakfast and afternoon tea, both of which had a wide variety of delicious options. The evening light meals also offered plenty of choices, and we could order all sorts of cocktails. There was even a fun cocktail challenge, but unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well that day and couldn't participate. My friends and I have already planned to come back specifically to try it next time! I also managed to squeeze in some time at the pool. There were hardly any people there, and the environment was really comfortable. A quick swim was incredibly relaxing. Overall, the facilities, all the food options, and the service were impeccable. My stay this time was excellent. The hotel butler was incredibly warm, professional, and attentive, treating guests with exceptional politeness, and answering questions promptly and efficiently. The hotel grounds and courtyard boast beautiful scenery, nestled by the mountains with a comfortable environment and fresh air – truly an ideal choice for a short getaway. The amenities are solid, with a shuttle bus service and direct subway access. All the staff members were enthusiastic and friendly. The hotel also features hot springs, a swimming pool, and various parent-child facilities, catering to different travel needs. My only minor suggestion would be for the Chinese restaurant's dishes to be improved. I recommend optimizing the specialty dishes and Cantonese flavors to further enhance the food quality. Showcasing the highlights of Cantonese cuisine would make it even more perfect. Overall, the comprehensive experience was great, and I will definitely choose this hotel again for future trips. I genuinely think it's fantastic and will bring my children next time! 🥰

At check-in, they were welcoming & found an English speaking staff member who escorted us to our room, which was super spacious & clean. The hot springs are across the driveway, but there was a shuttle car available if necessary. The breakfast had tons of options & they even indulged my requests (delivered via a translation app) for “a knife to spread butter” & “eggs with soft yolks”. We arrived there via subway & walking. From the subway, with our luggage in tow, was 15 minutes or less. Right around the subway station are other food & store options. Without bags & at a leisurely walk, it was about 15 minutes to Huaqing palace.

The customer service was excellent, always responsive, and actively helped resolve any issues. I primarily came for the hot springs and was very satisfied with them. However, I wasn't happy with the room facilities. The family rooms are on the top floor, and the entire floor has poor ventilation. As soon as you step onto the floor, there's an unpleasant smell, and it's the same in the room. It smelled like furniture and carpet, so we opened the windows as soon as we arrived. Being street-facing, there was a lot of dust. The air conditioning was also very noisy. The facilities are old and not smart, making them quite inconvenient to use. The decor feels like it's from over a decade ago. I hope they upgrade the facilities, otherwise, I honestly wouldn't recommend staying here just for the hotel itself.

I absolutely have to give this hotel a five-star review! Beyond the facilities and ambiance, what truly touched me was the warmth of the people. The service team was incredibly responsive to every request. I was worried about mosquitoes, and the staff patiently brought mosquito repellents multiple times. The biggest surprise was being showered with treats from morning till night: snacks and drinks in the lobby during the day, and Tremella soup before bed. Breakfast was not only abundant but also delicious. A special shout-out to the hotel's photography service; it was a fantastic experience with a high success rate for great photos, and the photographer was excellent at directing. The hotel's souvenir gifts are also incredibly chic—I loved them! The service strikes a perfect balance, being warm yet unobtrusive. This is, without a doubt, the most comfortable hotel I've stayed in recently.

Very good environment, close to nature. Came in autumn when it is rainy and cooling. Opened the door to let cool air in as it is better than the AC. However, bring closer to nature, there are more bugs/mosquitoes. Location is very peaceful, away from all the hustle and bustle. Doesnt have many choices of food nearby. Overall, good escape from the city.

The service is attentive, and the environment is elegant. It's a one-stop shop for a relaxing getaway, and the experience was fantastic!

This hotel boasts an excellent location, making getting around incredibly convenient. There's an abundance of parking spaces, which is a huge plus for those traveling by car. The front desk staff were warm and friendly, and both check-in and check-out were very efficient, with thoughtful and attentive service. Our room was spotless and well-arranged, with soft and comfortable bedding. The soundproofing was also good, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The bathroom facilities were complete, with a stable hot water supply, and the toiletries were of good quality. The public areas were tidy and grand, and the attention to cleanliness was impressive, especially the small details. A special shout-out to the handwritten card in the family room for guests with children – it was a really heartwarming touch. The housekeeping staff even noticed we drank a lot of water and proactively left two extra bottles in our room with another handwritten note. These small details show how genuinely dedicated the staff are to their guests. Overall, it offers excellent value for money and is perfect for both leisure travel and business stays. I would definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit.

Dayan Pagoda/The Grand Tang Mall Xi'an|7.91km from city centre
The experience at W Xi'an was perfect, offering both excellent accommodation and fantastic travel photography! I was very happy with the complimentary Jinghong travel photoshoot; the photographer was friendly and highly skilled. The hotel's design uniquely blends cyberpunk trends with elements of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The rotating staircase in the lobby, the outdoor W landmark, the 'starry sky' pool, and the guest room's scenic balcony are all popular spots for photos. You can snap pictures all day, and the nighttime lighting and shadows are particularly stunning, allowing you to capture a full set of travel blockbusters without even leaving the hotel. The guest rooms offer superb views, directly facing Qujiang Lake. In the evening, you can watch the Big Wild Goose Pagoda light show from the comfort of your bed. The bedding and bathroom hardware are premium, and the smart lighting creates a wonderful ambiance. The staff are warm and attentive, and breakfast includes local specialty snacks. The hotel also boasts a comprehensive range of facilities, including a pool and a bar. If you're traveling to Xi'an and want to combine a comfortable stay with high-quality photos, this hotel is definitely my top recommendation, especially for tourists who love taking pictures!

The service was excellent! On our last day, since our high-speed train was scheduled for later, the front desk attendant kindly allowed us to check out a bit later for free. This made our trip incredibly comfortable and really made us feel at home (*^▽^*)✈️ Secondly, the hotel's location is super convenient, with easy access to everything. It's within walking distance of all the main attractions and great food spots. I recommend booking the Deluxe King Room; it's located on an inner side, so it's quiet, and it has a window for good air circulation.

I'd heard great things about this hotel for a while, and even though it was a bit far from where I needed to be, I still chose to stay at the Legend. It lived up to expectations and was definitely worth the price. 'Historic, elegant, and high-quality' – that pretty much sums up my overall impression. Upon check-in, they upgraded my room, which was a very thoughtful gesture. The facilities are incredibly well-maintained, indicating excellent materials, meticulous management, and careful upkeep. The off-white seating in the public areas was spotless, instantly reassuring me about the hotel's hygiene. The courtyard was smaller than I imagined, but the greenery and layout were very pleasant, especially the centuries-old trees that seemed to stand guard, inspiring a sense of reverence. The guest room was comfortably and tastefully appointed, with multiple small, opening windows – a refreshing change from the large, fashionable windows often found today – offering a more residential feel and excellent privacy for different functional areas. The breakfast was exceptional, with both a buffet and à la carte options. The ingredients were fresh and high-quality, and it was absolutely delicious! When I returned to the hotel around noon after my errands, they kindly extended my check-out until 2 PM. The service was delightful; they diligently helped me with my luggage both upon arrival and departure, making me feel right at home. A special thank you to Derek Yang, Jack, Andi, Leo, Eva, and others.

Throughout the entire experience, the cleanliness, service, and facilities were all impeccable, offering far better value than hotels in the same price range. The room wasn't as bad as it looked in the pictures, but it also wasn't as bright due to the windows. I went on a Sunday, and there was a conference, two weddings, and a child's birthday party? The public areas were better maintained than the room facilities. The F&B department seemed a bit disorganized, but everything else was okay. The front desk staff was very welcoming, and the concierge called ahead to communicate.

Overall, the room was good. It's right next to the subway station and very close to the Bell Tower, making it super convenient for getting around. The only minor issue was that the air conditioning in the room was a bit noisy, but since I was so tired from exploring all day, I fell asleep right away, so it didn't really bother me. The main reason for my good review is the excellent service – the staff at the front desk, both the young ladies and gentlemen, were very enthusiastic, and the cleaning auntie was also very meticulous and thorough.

Service: Every lady at the front desk was kind and extremely attentive. We checked out a bit late, and they extended our checkout time to 3 PM, which was really thoughtful. The staff even helped us with our luggage to the car and offered us drinks. Cleanliness: The room was tidy and comfortable, and the bedding and bath amenities were very clean. However, the pillows had a slight odor of hair oil. Environment: The surrounding area has convenient transportation. The Xigong University subway station is just a few minutes' walk away, including a pedestrian overpass. There are also street food vendors just a few steps away. My only complaint is that Xi'an surprisingly doesn't have shared e-bikes, only shared bicycles. Riding a bicycle to tourist attractions will make you question your life choices. I recommend taking a taxi or, if you're looking for a more affordable option, combining it with subway transfers.

Right across from the Drum Tower, the location is excellent. The room was clean, tidy, spacious, and bright, with a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom. The staff cleaned punctually every day. When checking out, the front desk lady even asked if I needed two bottles of warm mineral water, which was very thoughtful. The only minor drawback is that the room isn't soundproof. However, I still love staying at Ji Hotel; I like its layout, the small tea table, and the black tea is good too.
