Polynesian Hostel Beach Club
8.4 (63 reviews)

Polynesian Hostel Beach Club ★★★

📍 2584 Lemon Rd, Honolulu

"I booked a single dormitory. There are foreigners there. The location is very good. The quality of sleep depends on whether there are snorers in your dormitory. Foreigners have a strong perfume smell. If you mind, don't book it. The facilities are relatively complete. You can cook by yourself. There is a public refrigerator and storage cabinets."

Waikiki Malia
8.4 (205 reviews)

Waikiki Malia ★★★★

📍 2211 Kūhiō Ave. Unit 206, Honolulu

"Location of hotel, cleanliness, and service are great. Pool is small but not crowded as most visitors opt for the beach. Moving through the parking garage is very tight - recommend smaller vehicles only."

Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani
9.2 (66 reviews)

Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani ★★★★

📍 2233 Helumoa Road, Honolulu

"Compared to Marriott, this is a terrible value. It's far from the beach. The price for three nights was what I paid for four nights at Marriott, and it was still a small studio room. There was no service, and the room was very small. It's not a resort-style stay. Avoid it!"

FIRST CABIN INTERNATIONAL HAWAII
9.0 (139 reviews)

FIRST CABIN INTERNATIONAL HAWAII ★★★

📍 2270 Kalākaua Ave suite 1400, Honolulu

"Even though it was a room-only plan, there was a Target nearby, so we could eat things we bought there, plate lunches, or even items we brought from Japan in the common area lobby. It was great that there was a microwave, a fridge, and a toaster!"

"I was very satisfied with this booking. The room was clean and tidy, and the scenery was beautiful with yachts docked in the beach and harbor. The surrounding facilities were comprehensive, including a large shopping complex nearby."

"I recently stayed at this hotel in the Penthouse and, overall, had a pleasant stay. However, there were several areas where the guest experience could be improved. Pros: * The location is convenient, with Waikiki Beach approximately a 15-minute walk away. * There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, although I would recommend making reservations in advance as many are very popular. * There are numerous ABC Stores nearby, making it easy to pick up snacks, drinks, souvenirs, and other essentials. * A special mention goes to Ralph, who was outstanding throughout our stay. He was friendly, approachable, and always happy to help with any questions or recommendations. He quickly became our go-to person whenever we needed assistance and is a real credit to the hotel. Cons: * Upon arrival, we were not offered the welcome drink that other guests appeared to receive. We checked in shortly after 3:00 pm, yet we saw guests arriving at around 9:30 pm the previous evening being offered welcome drinks. It was disappointing that this was not provided consistently. * We were never informed that the hotel offers complimentary beach umbrellas and chairs on a first come, first served basis. We ended up purchasing our own before accidentally overhearing another member of staff explain this benefit during another guest’s check-in. * Similarly, we only discovered that the hotel offers a complimentary walking tour after overhearing a different staff member mention it to another guest. It would have been helpful if all guests were informed about the activities and amenities available during check-in. * We booked the Penthouse expecting to fully enjoy the advertised 90-degree views. While the views themselves were excellent, the balcony was much smaller than expected and not really large enough to comfortably sit and enjoy them. * The bathroom, particularly the bathtub, felt dated and would benefit from refurbishment. * The room itself is showing its age and could do with a modern refresh. * The breakfast room is exceptionally small considering the number of guests staying at the hotel. During busy periods it becomes crowded and difficult to find seating. * One morning, a guest was allowed to bring a dog into the enclosed, air-conditioned breakfast room. To my understanding, this is not permitted under Hawaii law unless the animal is a legitimate service animal, and it made the dining experience uncomfortable. * The Skyline floor cannot be accessed using the elevator on the far left, which was inconvenient and not clearly explained. * At check-in, a $200 deposit was authorised along with an additional hold on my credit card. This extra charge was never explained by staff, and I only became aware of it after reviewing my credit card statement. Greater transparency regarding incidental holds would have been appreciated. Overall, the hotel is in a good location with helpful staff, especially Ralph, and provides a comfortable base for exploring Waikiki. However, there were several inconsistencies in communication and a number of facilities that would benefit from updating. Better communication during check-in about available amenities, clearer explanations of credit card holds, and refurbishment of the rooms would significantly improve the overall guest experience."

"The views are great. However, the first room the front desk assigned me was right next to the elevator and extremely noisy! I had to ask the front desk to change my room. The new room had a layer of dust on the table, the hairdryer plug was bent, the bath mat had bloodstains, and there were black spots on the pillows and sheets."

"I had a poolside room, and it was great to be so close to the pool! If I stay again, I'd like to stay in the same room type."

Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites Hotels in Honolulu

Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites

"The location is great, right across from Waikiki Beach. Some rooms have sea views, and ice cream coupons are given as a complimentary check-in. In a serviced apartment, there is no room cleaning. You can call the front desk to change towels and garbage bags. The facilities are old and the elevators are powerless to complain about... 4 elevators break down in turn, and I experience free fall from half a floor every day, and I am trapped in the elevator 😅 (the maximum capacity is 16 people, but it actually breaks down after 7 people)"

"Sorry but it seens I have more negative than positive to say: The fact that you charge such a huge deposit upon check in is ridiculous, especially since I can't charge anything like room service to the room! I've never seen a deposit like yours before! Plus the girl who checked me out said it would be refunded instantly...nope still haven't received it. The hotel location is perfect and the ABC store is perfect too. The bed, shower, and TV are great. The toilet is much too low. The restaurant on the 3rd floor has a great view but both the food and service are meh. Do not stalk me and ask me if I want my room cleaned. The sign on my door already answers this question. The girl who checked me out was very unfriendly. The guys out front were the friendliest and most helpful both"

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort ★★★★
"The location is super convenient, making it easy to get anywhere. The resort facilities are also great. The room was a bit dated, but still acceptable. Just a heads-up: at check-in, the front desk might try to upsell you to a better room for an extra charge, but you can just politely decline. If I visit Oahu again, I'd still choose this hotel."

Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort ★★★★★
"This was the best value hotel we stayed at during our stay (we also stayed at Hawaiian Village and Aulani). Location, quality of service and amenities. Had enough to keep kids entertained without being as overwhelmingly busy at Hilton. Enough space to relax, the onsite beach is small but always empty. Fitness centre is big. Only issue was wifi connectivity - lacked solid connection in either the room or generally around the resort however the hotel kindly gave us a portable device for free which helped somewhat. Highlights included kids cinema and movie, pool tables and other free games and walking distance from downtown with some of the best restaurants (highly advised to book ahead)."

"I stayed here on a solo trip. It was in Hawaii, but it was a dormitory, so it was relatively cheap. The good thing was that the bed was clean. The bad thing was that I couldn't turn off the air conditioner, so it was too cold at night and I caught a cold, and there was only one shower and toilet in the room, so I had to hold it in for quite a long time."

FIRST CABIN INTERNATIONAL HAWAII ★★★
"This pod place was perfect for me. olde person, long layover, budget friendly ... close to the high prices, close to the low prices, centrally located in Waikiki. what's not to like.? my end-of-row lower pod was quiet and very clean. the mattress was very comfy, and i could charge my phone and pad. (First Cabin looses one smile because the shower curtains were a bit mouldy and thus a little whiffy. something a fortnightly bleach bath would easily cure.) same time, same place next year for me."
