"The hotel's location is excellent, right across the street from Florence Santa Maria Novella train station. It's incredibly convenient if you're traveling by train, and you can easily walk to all the major attractions.
Right next door, there's a very famous Florentine steakhouse that's packed every evening. Plus, there's a Carrefour Express supermarket nearby, which is handy for picking up water and other essentials.
The breakfast is incredibly varied and a huge highlight of this hotel. There's a wide selection, and you can certainly eat your fill. The restaurant's design and ambiance are also lovely, similar to a sunroom, creating a very elegant atmosphere.
The front desk staff were quick to resolve an issue. Initially, my room's bathroom had an unpleasant odor. After I reported it to the front desk, they immediately moved me to another room on the spot. This new room was even larger, and the bathroom was more spacious.
Their toiletries are from a local skincare brand, and the soap and body lotion, in particular, are very moisturizing.
On the downside, the bathtub drainage was a bit slow."

"This hotel is hands down the best I've stayed at in Italy. First off, for luggage storage, there's dedicated staff to take your bags and bring them back directly to you when you need them. Secondly, the breakfast spread is fantastic; I enjoyed croissants and cappuccinos for two days straight. "Don't let the average-looking online photos fool you – this hotel is right next to the train station, making it super convenient for transport. The room amenities are quite new, and a big shout-out to the bathroom – it's incredibly clean and spacious! The service is also excellent; just remember to check in before 11 PM. We arrived late, but the front desk left their contact information at the entrance and guided us very patiently. My friend and I both agree we'd stay here again next time!"

"This hotel is okay if you get a good deal, but it's not worth paying extra for a special experience.
The location is fantastic, literally 10 meters from the Duomo! It feels safe, though you'll be woken up by the church bells every morning.
Service was a mixed bag, very hit or miss, which I guess is typical for Italy. Some staff were warm and helpful, others were quite cold.
We had a family room, which wasn't the exact room type pictured and was a bit smaller than expected. However, you can tell it has very high ceilings, suggesting it might have once been owned by a wealthy family or banker. The overall design and structural style haven't changed much.
Cleanliness was a concern. There were pillows on the bed that couldn't be removed, and it seems in Italy, duvets are often just a sheet with a reusable blanket on top, which I personally found a bit unhygienic (but I respect cultural differences). There weren't many charging outlets, and the design isn't standardized across rooms (e.g., outlet placement, a chair specifically for towels in the bathroom, etc.).
Ultimately, don't pay a premium to stay here. If the price is right, then it's an option."

"the hotel is rather old, you will have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs before even reaching the hotel lobby. the check in process is slow as the counter guy will be busy talking away with his colleague and taking his time while doing your check in (it was the same for every guests)
the shower head is very heavy and falls off easily and the towels were dirty. one good thing is that hotel slippers were provided but no new ones when they clean the room. also do note that they do not provide a “do not disturb” sign and will clean your room everyday, they will bang on your door to check if you are still in the room.
i was assigned on the first floor and they start cleaning very early in the morning which is very noisy and disruptive, the cleaners will just be talking away.
the room has very thin walls and i can literally hear water gushing whenever the person in the room beside flushes. it is also noisy due to the vehicles since it is near the main road."

"Pros: The front desk staff were excellent – very friendly and polite. We arrived early and they were kind enough to help us check in ahead of time, which we really appreciated.
Cons: The smell from the bathroom and sink in the room, where water backflowed, was truly unbearable. The toilet was shared, and the mosquitoes were a huge problem; my arms were covered in bites. The hotel is on the second floor, and the hallway on the first floor smelled really bad. I understand that renovating an old building can be complicated, but the overall experience was truly unpleasant. The front desk staff were great, though, no doubt about that."

"This hotel is a renovated old building, and the ceilings must be at least four meters high, giving it a 'new wine in an old bottle' kind of feel, which is absolutely fantastic. The location is also great; you can walk to the Duomo, and it's less than a kilometer from the train station. The rooftop bar has reasonable prices, and on the day I arrived, I actually won a free drink – what a lucky draw! The hotel also offers free laundry, which is a huge plus. Just a few hundred meters from the hotel is Piazza della Libertà, which isn't crowded with tourists and is definitely worth a visit. If I come back to Florence, I'll definitely stay here again."

"The hotel is very close to the train station, but it feels very safe. The gentleman at the front desk who checked us in was absolutely charming; he heard my husband was learning Italian and chatted with him for ages, which really made our day! Our room faced the courtyard instead of the street, so it was very quiet, and the bedding was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The breakfast spread was extensive, and I'd say it offers excellent value for money in Italy. We're very grateful for the hotel's service and ambiance, which made our two days in Florence truly enjoyable."

LLicichkaEverything was very good and comfortable. The location is close to the train station and all the main attractions. Given its proximity to the station, the noise level at night was as expected – not a surprise for me and acceptable.
Breakfast, though seemingly modest at first glance, was always delicious with enough dishes for my taste (yogurt with candied fruit, whole-grain croissant, scrambled eggs, coffee, and fruit). Everything was fresh and pleasant. The room wasn't new, but it was clean everywhere, which is more important to me; the cleaning service was good. The staff were friendly, ready to chat (even in my native language, which is rare) or leave you be – they are very perceptive to guests' moods.

GGuest UserThe environment is great, and the food is good. The overall experience far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's environment is truly impeccable. Walking into the lobby, you can immediately feel the clean and refreshing air. The greenery is exquisitely arranged, making you feel relaxed and at ease the moment you arrive. The soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, and the views outside the window are beautiful. It's exceptionally quiet both day and night, ensuring a perfect night's rest.

MMarcos 305Villa Tortorelli is a charming mix between a bed-and-breakfast and a hotel. My experience here was mostly positive, and while there were a few minor issues, I could tell that the staff genuinely does their best to run the villa as smoothly as possible.
Check-in & First Impressions
The first thing to note is that the villa is designed to work with automated check-in processes, which is great for most travelers. However, it could be better explained to future guests to avoid any confusion. Not everyone will have a working phone or data plan when they arrive in Italy, and it’s important for the villa to have a backup plan in case guests are unable to connect.
One simple suggestion would be to provide Wi-Fi access at the entrance of the villa and share the network name and password with guests before their arrival. This would make it easier for everyone to access the automated system without any issues.
Room & Comfort
I stayed in the Deluxe Suite, located on the first floor of a three-story villa, right next to the breakfast room. At first, I was concerned about noise, but the thick, heavy door completely blocked any sounds from the breakfast area. I never heard a thing in the morning.
The room has blackout curtains that provide great privacy and darkness, which I really appreciated. The bathroom was newly renovated with luxury finishes, including stone walls that give it a high-end feel. The room was clean, and the daily housekeeping service kept everything spotless, with fresh towels replaced daily.
One of the standout features of Villa Tortorelli is Karen, the person in charge of breakfast service and housekeeping. She is incredibly attentive and hardworking. She ensures that guests are well taken care of, and the breakfast is always well-prepared and served hot. Honestly, if they lose Karen, the villa would lose two stars in reviews. She is one of their greatest assets.

The breakfast service was excellent. The food is prepared fresh every morning, and Karen makes sure there is always a variety of hot and cold options available. The breakfast room is cozy and inviting, with plenty of choices to start your day off right.
The Villa’s Atmosphere & Location
The villa is peaceful and surrounded by greenery, making it a relaxing place to stay. It’s also within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions in Florence, which makes it very convenient for exploring the city.
One Minor Issue
The only negative point during my stay was that the room felt quite cold when I first arrived. However, I reached out to the WhatsApp help service, and the heating system was adjusted quickly. Within a short time, the room felt much warmer and more comfortable.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Villa Tortorelli is a great option for those looking for a peaceful, well-located stay in Florence. The automated check-in system could use some improvement to avoid any potential issues for guests without a data plan, but aside from that, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast is excellent, and the staff is very attentive.
Would I stay here again? Yes, especially for Karen’s service and the peaceful villa atmosphere!

Right after I booked, the price dropped, and after I contacted Trip.com, customer service immediately refunded the difference. When we checked our luggage, the front desk tried to upsell us to a larger room for 30 Euros, but we didn't have much luggage so we declined. The room was indeed small, mainly the bathroom door was hard to open without bumping into things; it should really be a sliding door. All visible areas were quite clean, but there was a lot of dust on the cups and tabletop. A kettle and tea bags were provided, but no free water. The kettle also had a lot of limescale, so I didn't dare use it. Breakfast was quite simple. Overall, it's good value for money.

GGuest UserIt's in a great location, 7 minutes from the station and 10 minutes from the Ufutzii Museum, but it was hard to find because there was no hotel sign! I was standing 10 meters away, but I couldn't find it even after walking back and forth, so I asked a nearby hotel staff member, who pointed to a small door and said, ”It's right there.” I pressed the intercom, had it opened, went up to the third floor, and finally checked in. The room was cute, and when I told them I was leaving early in the morning, they were flexible and said, ”I can make breakfast at the breakfast shop and have it delivered the day before.” There was a shower, a refrigerator, and bottled water for the bed. If you leave the room and go up one level, there is a shared terrace with a view of the roofs of the ancient city. If the check-in goes smoothly, it's a great place to stay.

GGuest UserExcellent location, excellent treatment and service by all the staff, especially by the receptionist who is there in the mornings and who knows how to speak Spanish. Their kindness and attention: exceptional, the fact that it has a swimming pool, even if it is small, to take a dip especially in summer, with the heat that it is, is an important point to take into account, and although I have read that they do not warn that it does not have an elevator and that in many cases, like us, they send you to the second floor with many steps, it is true, but they also take your suitcases up and down.
Without a doubt, I will stay at this hotel again on my next trip to Florence.

The hotel itself has a charming and elegant ambiance. The interior is tastefully decorated, combining classic elements with modern touches. The common areas, such as the lobby and lounge, are inviting and provide a comfortable space to relax after a day of sightseeing.
The staff at the Anglo American Hotel deserves special praise. From the moment I arrived, they were friendly, professional, and attentive. They were always ready to assist with any queries or requests I had, and their local knowledge and recommendations were invaluable in helping me navigate the city and discover hidden gems.

GGuest UserI stayed with my aunt and my friend for 2 nights recently; we had 3 beds in the same room, 1 single and 1 double. The hotel had basic amenities - private bathroom which was a little small for me and a TV in the room. We didn't notice a kettle in the room but to be honest, we weren't really bothered since we had paid for the hotel breakfast.
The breakfast had small selection of hot food: eggs and sausages were really good. The coffee machine wasn't working properly but the staff did everything they could to provide espressos for the guests. Speaking of the staff, they were so kind and amazing, The 1st staff we saw was kind enough to mark the local/popular attractions on the map and give us some guidance on what to do and where to go. They also gave us this incentive where we all got free breakfasts for the 2nd day after signing up to the hotel account (or something like that). The only major con about the stay was that our room was located right next to the elevator and it was noisy all morning and late at night so please if you can, ask for a faraway room!
