KKKKCCCThe Solaria Nishitetsu is a fantastic choice for travelers who prioritize exceptional location, modern design, and impeccable service. It’s a polished, efficient hotel that feels like a serene Japanese-inspired retreat amidst the exhilarating chaos of Myeongdong. --- **Location: (★★★★★)** Absolutely unbeatable. This is the hotel’s biggest selling point. * **Myeongdong Metro:** Exit 5 is literally a 30-second walk from the hotel's discreet side entrance. Line 4 (light blue) connects you directly to Dongdaemun, Seoul Station, and Myeongdong Station itself is a major hub. * **Shopping & Food:** You are in the epicenter of Myeongdong shopping street. Evening food stalls, countless restaurants, and every major beauty store are right at your doorstep. * **Accessibility:** A 10-15 minute walk gets you to the Namdaemun Market, and it's an easy taxi or subway ride to Insadong, Bukchon, and Ikseon-dong. **First Impression & Lobby: (★★★★☆)** The entrance is modern and understated—you could almost miss it if not for the discreet signage. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a calming scent, sleek dark wood, and a sophisticated, quiet atmosphere. The check-in process was swift and conducted by wonderfully polite, multi-lingual staff. The lobby is small but beautiful, setting the tone for the entire stay. **The Room: (★★★★☆)** * **Design & Cleanliness:** The room embodied modern Japanese minimalism—clean lines, warm wood tones, and intelligent use of space. It was spotlessly clean. The amenities were high-quality, with lovely Japanese toiletries. * **Size:** As expected in a prime Seoul location, the room was compact but brilliantly designed. For a solo traveler or a couple with one large suitcase, it was perfectly comfortable. Two large suitcases might have felt a bit tight. The “smart bathroom” with its multi-function toilet and deep soak tub was a fantastic luxury in a small space. * **View & Noise:** We had a room facing the interior courtyard/other buildings, which was very quiet. Street-facing rooms might get some nighttime buzz from Myeongdong, but the double-glazed windows are excellent. * **Bed:** The bed was firm and very comfortable, with high-quality linens. **Amenities & Services: (★★★★☆)** * **Breakfast:** We tried the breakfast once. It’s a delightful mix of Korean, Japanese, and Western options in a beautiful, light-filled dining room. The quality was excellent (the miso soup and grilled fish were highlights), but it is on the pricier side. * **Facilities:** No pool or gym, which some might miss. However, the 2nd-floor lounge area is a lovely, quiet space to relax with complimentary tea and coffee. * **Service:** Impeccable. Staff were always helpful, from storing luggage before check-in to providing directions and calling taxis. The turndown service was a nice touch. **Value for Money: (★★★★☆)** This is not a budget hotel, but you are paying for the premium location, outstanding cleanliness, refined atmosphere, and excellent service. For what it offers, it feels like good value within the upscale-midrange category.

**Val*Hotel location is excellent with Insadong Cultural street just behind the hotel. Lots of eateries, tea houses, cafes and quaint little shops selling everything from pottery, tea sets, fragrances, unique crafts, amd many more. There are also art galleries to step into and refresh your mind. Easily can spend half a day there. For the location, I'd recommend this hotel. The rooms however are on the smaller side.

YyucongseuThis hotel is right in Myeongdong, making shopping incredibly convenient – just step downstairs and you're there. Getting around is also easy, with taxis readily available and Myeongdong subway station very close by. It's also next to the Chinese Embassy, and the room I booked happened to be an 'embassy view' room, which made me feel extra secure. All the facilities and amenities are pretty complete, the cleanliness is quite good, and the service is also okay. It's a great place to stay if you're in Myeongdong for shopping. As for the downsides: breakfast on the top floor offers nice views, but the food selection is limited. Also, disposable items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and combs in the room come with a charge (which I believe is a standard regulation in Korea).

AAnimadvertIf your trip revolves around shopping, this is absolutely the best location in Seoul. The sheer convenience of being directly connected to the Doota Mall and across the street from the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) saved us so much travel time. You can shop late and be back in your room in minutes! Beyond the location, the service was wonderfully efficient and the front desk staff spoke excellent English. Our room size was generous for a Seoul hotel, providing plenty of space to organize all our shopping bags without feeling cluttered. This hotel defines convenience and comfort. The location is prime, centrally located yet surprisingly quiet, offering easy access to both dining and sightseeing areas—pure convenience! If you value spaciousness and convenience without compromising on excellent service, this is the place to book.

LLuy!The hotel is conveniently located near Hyundai Department Store, within walking distance, but the surrounding area is quite quiet. The room I stayed in was very spacious, which is rare for Seoul, offering plenty of room to move around without feeling cramped at all. However, the washbasin was poorly designed and felt narrow even for one person, with no space to put toiletries or personal items, which was a bad experience. For three consecutive mornings, glass cleaning started on the building exterior around 8 AM. The construction noise was disruptive to sleep.

FFajrinaRohmatI booked this trip last minute and didn’t have many expectations for the hotel, but I ended up having such a pleasant stay. They have a mini kitchen with kitchen utensils available apon request which was a big plus because I could reheat and cook simple meals. There’s also a washing machine for quick laundry and a toilet with a bidet — super plus point! The location is great — very close to Chungmuro Station, near Myeongdong but much quieter and peaceful. There are buses that go almost everywhere, and a CU right in front of the hotel. The bed was comfy, the room size felt just right, and housekeeping was consistent. Rubbish was cleared every day and fresh towels were provided daily too. Thank you for the lovely stay! I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Seoul 🫶

SSaipanFamilyLocation was excellent. 5 min walk to the subway and 1 stop away from Myeongdong. Seoul Station was also less than 10 min walk away. There was a 7-11 nearby and a few restaurants within walking distance. There’s a restaurant/bar on the bottom floor and the lobby/reception area is on the 2nd floor with cafe. Besides the two staff at the reception desk and the cleaning staff, there were no other staff to assist around the building. The room included soap, shampoo, conditioner, but everything else you could purchase from the front desk. One night it was late and raining hard, and all the restaurants were closed and the one front desk staff helped us to order delivery because everything on the delivery sites were in Korean and required a SK phone number. We greatly appreciated her help. I would stay here again if I wanted to be close to Myeongdong and Namdaemun.

MMengmengchifan! The hotel is extremely close to the airport shuttle bus stop, and the shuttle even announces the hotel name, making it very easy to find. The guy at the front desk, even though he didn't speak Chinese, was able to communicate seamlessly in English and was very enthusiastic! While the room was small, it had everything you needed and was quite clean. The only minor downside was that their electricity seemed a bit unstable, as charging electronic devices was incredibly slow. Also, contrary to what was stated on the details page, there isn't 24-hour hot water, but there's still hot water for showering, just not super scalding. The heating in winter was very comfortable, usually staying around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius. (If you're Chinese and reading this, please remember to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and gargle cup!)

MMary KathrynWe were able to locate the guest house easily using Naver Map. However, our first struggle was how to reach the destination itself. The guesthouse is located in an uphill area, almost near Namsan Cable Car (600km/20min walk). A great tip we discovered (after struggling of walking uphill for 2 days 😂) was using the escalators/elevators near the Ihoeyeong Memorial Hall. Go straight from there and you’ll find a 7-Eleven convenience store upon crossing the street. Go left then right at the first wide alley way you see, it should be uphill. Keep on walking until you see a signage of mama guest house on your right side. We booked a day before our arrival so we could immediately check-in in our rooms. A note welcomed us and our keys were found at the reception area. Pls don’t forget to remove your shoes and change into the slippers they provide found in the shoe cabinet at the left side of the entrance. Our rooms were next to each other, but differ in size. Bathroom was okay, but I hope they’ll fix the sink’s pipe problem in room 104 since it leaks on the floor upon using. I suggest buying shower filters (5,000 Won) since the water in SK is quite harsh. I suggest to test how you’ll adjust the temperature when showering. There were no bidets in our bathrooms. Always bring your keycard with you whenever you go out. They don’t go into your rooms like hotels would. If you have any requests, just leave a note on their desk (ie. New towels, tissue, etc.) They also don’t have laundry machines. Do not eat inside the rooms, only in the kitchen which is in the basement. If you feel like your trash bins are getting full, trash bins are found in the lobby and segregate everything according to their waste category. Just think of it as you’re staying on your own room. Walls are thin, made of light wood materials so I wouldn’t suggest talking nor listening to your phone loudly. Breakfast menu were cereals with milk, bread and flavored jam, and instant noodles. You can only consume what’s inside the fridge unless there’s a note that a room guest owns it. You can cook and buy your own food, just make sure you clean up after. You can also fill-up your water bottles here. Going to different areas are easy too since it’s near Myeongdong Station exit 1. If you’re planning to go shopping in Myeongdong, just go straight after exit 1 and you should see E-Mart across the street then cross on the first crosswalk you see. If you want to enter the “main” street, go left until you see the bug HBAF building. Overall, I think our stay was a good since the staff we get see was very accommodating to our requests. I just hope they’ll fix some of their bathroom leakage.
