Bbarbk407Don't waste your money !!! I told my friend I am going to ” treat myself” referring to staying at One Vientiane. I got to the front desk, and was so excited to have arrived in the Hotel and the city for a much deserved mini holiday. I was not going to work while I stayed, and just be on vacation. Check in, was shocking,3 staff members sat at a desk and one was on her cell phone swiping,I could see it, it was not work related. and the other 2 were aimlessly on a computer, and no smile, no ” welcome” I had to be the first one to say hi, and that I was checking in. ” oh, well do you have reservation?” one asks, the other 2 still do not care,” yes, I paid already” I felt worried that by his demeanor that I was not booked, or something, it was so awkward, so I said ”this is the worst check in experience I've had, ” then 2 stood up , they realized I was not happy and they decided to look like they cared. I was given my room key. I went up and the room was not clean, and I was told to take another room next to the lift, and I said, I only requested ONE THING, and that was a ” quiet room” , not a room next to the lift and stairwell. Downstairs, was given a new key , and the boy decided it was a good idea to assume that I did not already know how to say ”thank you ” in Laos. and gave me a lesson at the lift, talking into my face with NO mask on. And called me 'madam' A word that not many women prefer to be called. I honestly would have rathered, he'd given me a brief description of which way to walk out of the hotel to find one of the many nice little French cafes the city offers.. I went in my room before I ventured out, and it actually did not even have a bar soap. why hotels put towels on the bed, I took a shower and couldn't find a towel. there was very little water pressure, but the toilette bum gun had high pressure and it sprayed too hard, was painful and water everywhere. unfortunately I ate in the restaurant, it was expensive, and gross, margarine coated thin bread, I'd asked for a baguette, and processed cheese slice, for real!! In Laos, where nice cheese and baguettes are more abundant than in France...fries tasted like a dead animal. Was truly bad taste, I am not exaggerating. The location was ok, I was a bit confused why the reviews were so good, and only could assume was they because they were written during the pandemic and it was much quieter in South East Asia these past few years, compared to before. as it is on a main noisey intersection. I was woken constantly by neighbors coming in and out of their rooms, and sounded like they were inside my room, the walls couldn't keep the sound out, like paper walls. and at 5 am a girl pounding on her room locked out, and didn't bother to get a spare key at front desk I guess, no one was there at 5 am... and she woke everyone up. pounding on her door... was so loud and sounded so loud, like walls are made of paper, upstairs ,night before, chairs screatching across the floors, all night long....
