"Staffs are friendly. The inn is situated inside the ancient wall town , which make it easy to walk around the town. The decor of the inn is very unique and i luv it. The only downside of the inn is no lift. But staff will help you to carry the luggage up. Highest floor is 3 levels."

"Had a fantastic stay! We booked the 'sky-light room,' which was very quiet, allowing us to sleep soundly until morning. The front desk attendant was incredibly warm and helpful; she brought ice packs for my wife's sprained ankle and even lent us a charging cable. The guesthouse is conveniently located directly across from the old town city wall entrance, where you can climb up for free to enjoy panoramic views of the ancient city."

"The hotel's location is quite good, and the facilities are average, more geared towards tourists than business travelers. The biggest downside to the rooms is the terrible soundproofing. From around 6 AM, you can constantly hear doors closing and people talking in the hallway, making it impossible to sleep. The service was overly enthusiastic but felt unnatural; I was asked ”How's your stay?” at least 6 times within 24 hours. I wish hotel management would focus more on practical details, like keeping the air conditioning running even after removing the key card during summer stays so guests don't return to a stuffy room, or relocating the toilet paper holder because it's currently in a very inconvenient spot. "Traveling from Hangzhou to Datong this time, I stayed at the Yungang Hotel. My first impression after checking in was: Datong hotels are incredibly grand! 😂 When I arrived at night, the fountain at the entrance turned on, the lights lit up, and the whole hotel looked particularly impressive. Inside, it was 'resplendent' all the way through; the lobby and corridors had the feel of an old-school high-star hotel, perfect for casual photos. The room was much larger than I expected, and the bed was very wide. I could spread out my suitcase completely without it getting in the way. The cleanliness was meticulous; the bedding, desk, and bathroom were all very neat. Overall, my stay for several nights was very comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious, and the double sinks were very convenient – two people could get ready in the morning without fighting for space. The breakfast is also worth praising. The variety was truly extensive, not just a few random items like some hotel breakfasts. There was a huge spread of fruits, hot dishes, and main courses. Those with decision paralysis would definitely go back for several rounds! 😂 It's especially friendly for tourists; eating a hearty breakfast before heading out to explore means you won't get hungry easily for the whole morning. Overall, it's a place I'd be happy to recommend. The environment is grand enough, the room is spacious and clean enough, and breakfast is abundant. If you care about accommodation comfort when visiting Datong, you can confidently choose Yungang Hotel, especially if you spend your days exploring and want a good rest at night. Next time I come to Datong, it will likely be among my top choices for accommodation."

"One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at in China! We honestly didn’t expect to be this impressed. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect. The hotel itself is incredibly beautiful and atmospheric. Every corner is thoughtfully designed, making it feel like you’re staying in a boutique museum rather than a hotel. The entire property is incredibly aesthetic, and every part of it is a perfect spot for beautiful photos. We stayed in a stunning two-level room, which completely exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, stylish, exceptionally comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Every little detail had been carefully considered. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of Datong Ancient Town. We could walk everywhere, with all the main attractions, restaurants, and beautiful streets just a few minutes away. The staff were some of the friendliest we’ve ever met. Everyone was genuinely welcoming, kind, and always happy to help, making us feel at home from the very first moment. Breakfast was also excellent. Instead of a buffet, a freshly prepared traditional Chinese breakfast was served each morning. It was delicious, beautifully presented, and the perfect start to the day. One of the nicest surprises was that guests can borrow traditional Chinese costumes free of charge for a photo shoot around the hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough free time to try it ourselves, but it’s such a wonderful idea and gives us another reason to come back. We travel a lot and have stayed in countless hotels around the world, so it’s actually very difficult to surprise us. But this hotel genuinely did. If it were possible to give 100 stars instead of 5, we absolutely would. Even if we really wanted to find something to complain about, we honestly couldn’t. Everything was simply perfect. Without any doubt, this is one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. If we ever return to Datong, we won’t even consider staying anywhere else. We will definitely come back. Highly, highly recommended!"

"This time I came to Datong to stay at this homestay and the experience was full! The homestay is newly renovated, the rooms are very clean and tidy, and all kinds of facilities are very new and comfortable. The view of the yard is beautiful, and it is especially pleasant to sit in your leisure time. "On my trip to Datong, I booked a stay at the Howard Johnson Jindi Plaza Datong, located right by the ancient city, through Trip.com. It's rated 5 stars online, and it truly lives up to the hype! As soon as I checked in, I was upgraded for free to a deluxe business suite. It was my first time seeing a suite with a dining table big enough to host over 10 friends and family. After one night, I switched back to my originally booked business king room. The king room was also incredibly comfortable, measuring a spacious 62 square meters. Opening the curtains revealed views of Datong's streets. If you walk to the end of the corridor, you can even see a panoramic view of the ancient city of Datong. What truly stands out is the fantastic Chinese restaurant at this 5-star hotel. I stayed in Datong for three days, and除了one lunch I had in Hunyuan Ancient City, all my other five lunches and dinners were enjoyed at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. Here, a bowl of Shanxi's specialty knife-cut noodles is only 6 RMB, and a bowl of cold noodles, even tastier than those in Hunyuan, is just 3 RMB. You can order half portions of shumai, and during the first dog days of summer, they even had dumplings. I tried the braised deer tendon with scallions, something I'd never had before, and it was superb, as were the husband and wife lung slices and jellyfish salad – perfect with drinks. Dining here is delicious and affordable. If you top up 200 RMB, you even get a complimentary plate of Shanxi's signature 'guoyourou' (fried pork in sauce). A huge shout-out also goes to the restaurant staff. They are warm, thoughtful, and genuinely care for guests, even advising against ordering too much, ensuring just the right amount! In summary, I give a 5-star rating to both the hotel and the F&B department. The last photo is of the hotel's breakfast, which was also excellent. The hotel has two breakfast restaurants, so even with many guests, it never feels crowded!"

"I booked this room last minute, just planning to crash for a night, but it completely exceeded my expectations! Even though the room was on the B1 level, it was very comfortable, and I really liked the decor. The owner and the lovely ladies at the front desk were all incredibly friendly and chatty. This will definitely be my top choice next time I visit!"

"This hotel is essentially next door to the Yungang Grand Hotel and is probably one of the best hotels in the area. The overall decor is very grand, giving off a luxurious vibe. The room itself was fantastic; the cleanliness, amenities, and room service all deserve five stars! Downstairs is Fengling Court, and it's about 1 km from Wanda Plaza, so it's quite convenient for getting around and dining. The downsides are that the pool closes pretty early, around 8 PM, and the changing rooms smelled strongly of urine. The pool water also didn't feel very clean, so that part of the experience was just okay. Additionally, breakfast was incredibly crowded, and you had to find your own seat. I hope they can optimize this, though I understand it's peak tourist season. Overall, I was still very satisfied!"

An auntie surnamed Cui and a young man (sorry, I forgot to check his name) who I believe are in charge of the executive floor, were very quick to respond. Late-night porridge: A bowl of millet porridge late at night is incredibly comforting for the stomach."
