"Stayed with BWH for nights. Pros: The location is great. Only approx. 5 minutes walk to Sakae Station. There are many restaurants to go to. Convenience shops like Lawson and 7 eleven are just across the road. The double room itself is spacious by Japanese standards (as in the photo). Cleanness is superior. The hotel does routine daily cleaning services including replacing slippers and towels, etc. Almost all amenities are provided at the reception. Must mention that many things like face cleansing gel are from Pola. Cons: The fridge makes clear noise (even when switched to level 1), so that I have to power off the fridge before sleeping. The soundproofing can be improved. I could hear laughter and natter from the next wall (their large voice did contribute though), especially when the night was very quiet. Another one is the small chair on the corner. It kept preventing me from accessing the window side of the bed. Should've chosen a better place to place it."

"Although the last renovation was in 2015, the facilities, cleanliness, and service are still quite good. The public area on the first floor is small but includes a microwave, and free hot water and Miso soup are available all day. The location is excellent, very close to the train station. I recommend visiting Atsuta Jingu Shrine and Osu Kannon Temple; Nagoya Castle was just okay. For getting around, the 24-hour subway pass is a great deal, especially since passes in other cities are usually day passes that expire the next day."

"The bed was incredibly small, and they wouldn't even provide an extra duvet, only a blanket without a cover. At the front desk, remember to ask for your skincare amenities yourself when you check in; otherwise, they'll pretend not to have any – it's just fake politeness. I guess the hot spring is the only reason to choose this place. In comparison, I much prefer JR Gate Tower; they directly give you Takashimaya coupons, and the bathroom is also much more spacious."

"The room was very clean and, for a Japanese hotel, a decent size. The location is absolutely superb, with the station and a department store right downstairs. It's convenient for getting anywhere. The overall facilities and hardware are great. However, when I tried to drop off my luggage before check-in, I encountered a Japanese man at the front desk who was noticeably rude to guests. He had narrow eyes, a slightly round face, wasn't too short, and had slicked-back hair. I'm not sure if it was intentional (in Japan, hotels are in the 'hospitality' industry, and trained staff usually wouldn't act that way; I've been to Japan numerous times and this is the first time someone returned my passport face down and upside down). Anyway, his Japanese was also delivered in a 'slow and deliberate' manner, almost sarcastically (imagine the tone of an 'eunuch' by the emperor's side in a palace). He completely lacked the professionalism expected in the service industry. When I officially checked in, it was a different story with an older Korean man who spoke Japanese; his attitude was completely different. I'd advise friends checking in to avoid that first individual. The cleaning staff I saw were all foreign workers and their attitude was excellent. Due to its great location and facilities, the hotel's business is surely doing well."

"The location was fantastic, check in was quick and smooth. We left our luggage at the counter as we arrived early. We stayed on Level 9. Our room was a room at the end of the aisle with two single beds and an additional foldable bed added. However, the room was not properly cleaned. There was visible dust on the surfaces on the ledge of the bed above our heads. The small bedside table was also covered with dust. As my daughter and I both have allergic reactions, it was bad for our noses and much sneezing ensued. I am deeply disappointed as I have come to expect top level cleanliness from Japanese hotels and so far, I have never been disappointed. This was by far my worst stay in a Japanese hotel."

"Excellent for solo travelers. The single room was spacious enough to open a 26-inch suitcase. There's a convenience store right downstairs, which was super handy. It's a short walk to both Sakae and Fushimi, and Ichiran Ramen is just a stone's throw away. Highly recommend!"

"Honestly, overall it's pretty good and has a lot of character. The mini burgers at breakfast were delicious. And the quiet room I specifically requested was indeed very quiet. However, the air conditioner blows directly at you, and you can only adjust it to strong or weak wind, so you're either freezing or boiling, and it's quite noisy. Secondly, the duvet is shockingly short; anyone over 165 cm (I'm 162 cm myself, no exaggeration) won't be able to cover themselves properly. Also, the curtains aren't blackout, so if you're sensitive to light, you should choose carefully, but it's okay if you bring an eye mask. Overall, it's a hotel with character, worth experiencing but not suitable for a long stay (not ideal for more than three days)."

"The room is quite spacious. The furnishings felt a bit dated but the housekeeping crew did a nice job of keeping the room very clean. My only complaint was that you cannot turn on the air con during winter time, because the thermostat was locked. Even after we had turned off the heating, it was still hot and stuffy. The window can only be partially opened, so the staff brought us an electric fan. Thumbs up to the staff for their impeccable service. All our requests -- whether it was making a dinner reservation, fixing a leaking faucet or booking a taxi to the bus terminal -- were attended to promptly and competently. The hotel is in a convenient location.There is a 24-hr drug store and a FamilyMart just around the corner. The bus terminal at Oasis 21, Sakae Station(Subway), Sakaemachi Station (Meitetsu Seto Line), Hisaya-odori Park, Mirai Tower and several department stores are only a few blocks away. The drop-off point for the airport limousine is right in front of the hotel, though you have to go to the bus terminal to board the bus bound for the airport."

"This was my second stay at this hotel because my first experience was so great. The night view is absolutely unbeatable, overlooking Nagoya. It's incredibly convenient for shopping and dining in the Sakae district; there's a brand new mall right downstairs with Montbell and Blue Bottle Coffee. However, there was a small hiccup during this stay. I was suddenly woken up at 4 AM by the fire alarm and a loud broadcast announcement. It took a while before I could fall back asleep. The next day, I saw an explanation saying it was either a guest smoking or accidentally pressing the fire alarm in the elevator."

"Although it's a JR West hotel, this one is a bit too far from Nagoya Station. You have to cross several roads, and the overall experience isn't as good as JR East Mets Hotel, which is directly connected to the station. I booked this hotel for the convenience of catching an early train, and I was very disappointed. The hotel is a bit old, and the front desk is small, but they have self-checkout machines which are quite convenient. There's a FamilyMart convenience store right next to the lobby, making it easy to grab a late-night snack or breakfast for the next day. The room size is decent. I'm not sure why the kettle and the table with an outlet and seating are placed in two separate areas. There are no tea sets in the room; you have to get them downstairs yourself. As an economy option, it's passable, but as a JR hotel, it doesn't really stand out."

The breakfast is decent, but it gets incredibly crowded, with queues extending all the way to the elevators. The environment is chaotic and the management needs to improve to avoid such long lines.
