When people talk about the Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing, they often label it as a 'luxury hotel in the hutongs,' a 'hidden gem along the central axis,' or a 'masterpiece of the Qianmen regeneration project.' But if we set aside these external definitions and focus purely on the stay experience, the deepest impression it left on me can be summed up in two words: sheer comfort. This comfort doesn't stem from any single specific amenity, but rather from an overall feeling. Tucked away deep within Beijing's Qianmen hutongs, stepping through the gate from the bustling streets into the courtyard felt like entering a different dimension of time. Grey bricks, dark tiles, courtyard walls, and tree shadows – all elements were distinctly Beijing, yet without any forced emphasis on being 'Beijing.' The design didn't just stop at symbolism; instead, it re-organized the hutong courtyard lifestyle, truly allowing guests to live in a modern Beijing courtyard home. Beijing in the summer is particularly suited to this place. The afternoon sun dappled through the leaves onto the courtyard, with doves perched quietly on the branches. Sitting in the courtyard, watching the clouds drift slowly between the eaves and grey walls, you suddenly understand why old Beijingers always said, 'There must be a tree in the courtyard.' The tree not only provides shade but also marks the passage of time. The wind changes, the light changes, and the tree shadows change. Many mention its 'hidden location in the hutongs,' but what's truly worth experiencing isn't just the hidden aspect, but rather that elusive relationship with Beijing's urban culture. Outside the walls are the hustle and bustle of Qianmen, while inside, the unique sense of scale characteristic of courtyard living is preserved. Looking up, you see the sky; looking down, you see tree roots and青砖 (qingzhuan - traditional grey bricks); occasionally, birdsong can be heard. These seemingly ordinary details become precious in today's city. The service also left an excellent impression. It wasn't an overly enthusiastic kind of service, but rather a sincere and well-measured attentiveness. Help was always there when needed, yet they maintained an appropriate distance when not. Many high-end hotels can achieve professionalism, but it's not easy to make guests feel genuine care, and this place truly has that ability. Near check-out, I had a chat with the duty manager, Chloe. What began as a simple conversation unexpectedly became a memorable part of this stay. She meticulously detailed the design philosophy and spatial characteristics of the hotel's 42 rooms, patiently explaining everything from the layouts of different courtyards to the subtle differences between rooms. One could feel her genuine understanding and passion for this hotel, which in turn gave me a more complete appreciation for this hidden hutong gem. My special thanks also go to Chloe for her insights and hospitality. Upon leaving, I felt that the most precious aspect of this hotel wasn't its luxury, but rather how it has preserved the ambiance of courtyard living in a rapidly changing city like Beijing. Shade from trees, grey walls, summer clouds, birdsong. These seemingly ordinary things collectively form a part of my memory of summer in Beijing. If staying at a hotel is about experiencing a space, then the Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing is more about experiencing a Beijing way of life. It may not be for everyone, but for those willing to slow down and embrace the city, beauty can be found everywhere here.

The moment I walked into the hotel, I was so disappointed. There was an insurance company holding an event, and the lobby was chaotic and noisy. The insurance staff were even blocking the elevator buttons. My first impression was terrible. When I got into the elevator, on my way up to the 11th floor, a hotel employee pushed a cart full of things in. They realized they'd made a mistake, thinking the elevator was going down, but instead of leaving, they started cursing at a robot trying to enter, even using foul language, completely disregarding the guests. Entering the room, my heart sank even further. The cabinets and everything were dilapidated, and the overall feel of the room was old and rundown. I immediately called Trip.com to see if I could change my two-night booking to one night, as I absolutely had to move out the next day. The breakfast the next day was also very poor; from the service to the food selection, it was just indescribable. Even the coffee was undrinkable.

I stayed at the Hampton by Hilton Beijing West Railway Station Lize Business District for a business trip. Its proximity to Beijing West Railway Station makes taxi commutes easy, saving a lot of time getting to client locations. The hotel also offers ample free parking within its grounds, so there's no stress if you're driving. The guest rooms are clean and spacious, meticulously cleaned, and the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, with both soft and firm pillows. The soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, ensuring a quiet night's sleep for good rest and recovery. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and the water pressure is stable, making daily routines very convenient. The self-service laundry room comes with washing and drying machines, which is great for long business trips as you can clean your clothes promptly without having to carry dirty laundry, making things much easier. The breakfast offers a wide variety of options, including Chinese congee, baked goods, and freshly ground coffee, so you can still enjoy a warm breakfast even if you have an early start. The front desk staff, particularly Unice, processed everything efficiently, providing patient and thoughtful service, and promptly responding to any requests. Located in a prime downtown area with excellent amenities, this hotel offers great value for money with its facilities and service at this price point. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Beijing.

The room is comfortable and the location is great. However, I have three issues worth mentioning: Construction noise  1. Construction noise: There is construction work nearby, and they appear to work through the night. If your room is in stacks 01 to 26, the construction noise may keep you awake. 2. Pillows are too soft and thin : The pillows were quite thin and lacked support. Some hotels now provide two options, such as one memory-foam pillow and one softer/thinner pillow, which gives guests more choice. 3. Lighting in the room : As the room has an open-concept design, it is not possible to switch off the main room light while keeping the toilet lights on. This makes the room quite bright at night and can be uncomfortable when trying to sleep. Overall, the room and location are good, but these points could be improved to make the stay more comfortable.

The location is superb, allowing for easy strolls along Wangfujing Street anytime. The modern hotel, adorned with a classically charming entrance, truly stands out. I especially loved the spacious walk-in closet in the room, perfect for families to store their luggage! The bathroom fixtures were also exactly to my taste. The hotel staff were all incredibly enthusiastic, making us feel very much at home despite traveling from afar. When we needed an iron for the room that evening, the housekeeping staff promptly delivered it, set it up, and ensured it was ready for our use – exceptionally efficient. Furthermore, the breakfast offered unique Beijing specialties, and I was particularly delighted by the presentation of the breakfast tea, served in an English silver tea set, adding a wonderful sense of ritual. If I hadn't been in a rush, I would have savored every moment! I will definitely stay here again next time!

The hotel was comfortable and pleasant. The reception staff provided good service and could communicate in English well enough. The location was also quite convenient, around a 12-minute walk to the subway station and about 15–20 minutes from the Temple of Heaven. It was easy to rent a bicycle nearby and ride to shopping centres or parks. Overall, the distances were manageable and the stay was enjoyable.✨✅🚲🛤️

From the moment the concierge opened the car door, it was clear that Rosewood invests heavily in its staff. The hotel entrance was well-staffed; one person opened the door, another handled luggage, and this level of service was consistent upon departure. Upon entering, the five or six-story high lobby was impressive. The front desk staff who checked us in was a gentleman wearing a yellow tie, and his conversation during the process was delightful and enthusiastic – a great first impression. Stepping into the room, it was evident that Rosewood maintains its rooms exceptionally well. Despite the hotel being open for many years, the carpet was still clean and tidy. The complimentary mineral water has been upgraded to Oravida in glass bottles, which, in my opinion, is a slight improvement over canned water. The room layout was comfortable and didn't feel cramped. Although the building is old, Rosewood's design philosophy is incredibly forward-thinking, making it a standout in today's Beijing hotel market. The bathroom wasn't huge but didn't feel cramped. The bathtub was excellent and spacious, and the water pressure was strong, filling it up quickly. All toilets have been replaced with Toto smart toilets. It's worth noting that the bathrobes are Frette. The mattress firmness and the skin-friendliness of the bedding were particularly to my liking. I believe the gym and swimming pool are the best among Beijing's luxury hotels. The gym space is arguably the largest among hotels of its caliber, with the most comprehensive facilities. The swimming pool is widely considered the most photogenic among Beijing's luxury hotels, with clear water and a three-to-four-story high ceiling that creates an incredibly comfortable atmosphere. Air circulation is excellent, with no dampness or chlorine smell. Compared to these highlights, breakfast was only satisfactory – not outstanding, but it met expectations. The beef noodles were quite good, though. Overall, among hotels in Beijing at a similar price point, Rosewood is arguably the best!

The hotel itself is great, I can't really fault it. The design is artistic, and both the facilities and service attitude are excellent. It offers good value for money in Beijing. There's a mall downstairs, making it convenient for dining or ordering takeout. However, the quality of some hotel guests is just bizarre. The couple next door were absolute animals, treating the hotel like their own personal movie set. I had just had a cosmetic procedure and my face was throbbing. I was hoping for a quiet night's rest. Instead, I was driven to my wit's end by the incessant noise from these two all night long. The first 'show' started at 7 PM. The screaming was like someone being butchered, so loud I honestly thought there was a ghost. There was even a sound like glass breaking, and I almost put on a Buddhist chant. On closer listening, it turned out to be the woman yelling 'hubby' and 'don't want to'. It ended abruptly after five minutes, at least they had some shred of dignity left. Then at 2:30 AM, it started again, waking both my boyfriend and me. For over half an hour, it was non-stop 'ah ah ah, oh oh oh, ho ho ho,' 'so hard,' 'so deep,' and the guy was constantly dirty talking. The noise was so loud it sounded like they'd moved their bed right outside my window. This isn't a *******, and there are children staying here. Can't you two have some common decency? No one is interested in your late-night adult film live stream. If you're going to be so 'talented,' at least cover your mouths and shut the door completely. Don't make your neighbors your unwilling audience. I'm just an innocent guest who just had surgery. And after all that, they still wouldn't quiet down, continuing to talk loudly and cackle like ****** until 5 AM. It was as if they were the only two people in the entire building, with no sound from any other room. I only went to sleep when they finally stopped talking, and the next day my eyes looked like a 'sad frog'. The moment I thought about calling the front desk, they'd go silent, and the moment I tried to sleep, they'd start up again. What exactly was the point of all that?

Apart from the renovation which we were told beforehand, the room we had was dark (probably because it was a windowless room), humid, aircon wasn’t strong but they provided a fan. Could smell urine even with the toilet seat covered, toilet door was closed, to a point that i was awaken by the foul smell. Had to spray perfume to have it barely covered. Ventilation was super bad. Cons aside, service was good, fridge in room had free drinks. Would recommend to book a window room if you had to even though friend that stayed in the window room said it was bad too. There’s a mall few minutes walk away which was a plus. Good view on the reception floor too.

My stay at Qiqiao House Hotel exceeded expectations, so a five-star review is a must. I booked a standard room through Ctrip, and during check-in, the front desk staff was incredibly thoughtful and offered a complimentary room upgrade, which was a delightful surprise. The upgraded room was significantly more spacious, well-lit, and felt much more open and comfortable. The room's cleanliness was impeccable. The bedding was fresh, soft, and odorless, and the bathroom was spotless with a proper wet/dry separation. The hot water was consistent, and all toiletries were well-stocked. The soundproofing was also quite good; with the windows closed, outside noise was barely audible, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The hotel's location is a major plus. It's very close to the subway station, making commuting incredibly convenient. There are also supermarkets and restaurants nearby, making dining and shopping hassle-free. The front desk staff were warm, polite, and responded quickly and efficiently to any issues. Overall, the value for money is excellent, and the free room upgrade significantly enhanced my experience. It's a great choice for both business trips and short getaways. I was extremely satisfied and will definitely prioritize this hotel on my next visit to the area. I highly recommend it to everyone.
