Spa hotels in Almaty

Right in the city center of Almaty, with views of the TV tower and snow-capped mountains – super convenient for getting around! The breakfast is amazing, definitely try the Kazakh dairy products, staple foods, and a variety of fruits.

I had a wonderful stay here. Helpful staffs at the reception counter. Room facilities were all working well, and housekeeping was amazing as well. Convenient walking distance to local attractions - green bazaar, arbat street, ascension church, etc.

Everything was fine except for the payment process. It's really inconvenient when Trip.com charges your card, and then upon arrival, you have to pay the hotel again, with Trip.com eventually refunding the initial payment. Hotels with this payment method should just not be offered at all.

Overall, it was a good stay. The hotel has beautiful mountain views and a large, green property, although there aren’t enough walking paths throughout the grounds. The overall atmosphere still feels like the Soviet-era resort it once was, and that is reflected in the service as well. The restaurants are decent, but they’re overpriced, and it would be much more convenient if they had online menus. One downside is that guests are not allowed to use the spa after check-out.

It is located centrally, enabling travellers to have easy assess to connecting public bus services, subways, walking distance to nearby eateries, restaurants, the famous Green Bazaar and the sceneic, spacious park that housed the famous Zenkov Cathedral! All the staffs were amazing, from the frontline to the housekeeping and managers on duty. They communicated well, speak good English, and were extremely patient and helpful in answering my questions about the hotel facilities, going to certain places, etc. Although the breakfast food selection is not much, it was still outstanding - the bread were fresh, the coffee selection is excellent, fresh cut fruits, and these were sufficient to fill my appetite during my stay for the breakfast! I would definitely recommend travellers and visitors to Almaty to consider staying at the Grand Tien Shan hotel, its a ”GRAND” feeling you wouldn't want to miss! Enjoy!

The hotel is in a good location with spacious rooms. The level of service doesn't match the stated level. The bathroom is in terrible condition. The drain in the shower stall is clogged, and it's not fixed during cleaning. The shower faucet closes under its own weight, requiring a hand to hold it in place. You can shower in the bathtub, but the drain blocking valve is damaged, and the shutoff mechanism is broken. The valve is simply installed in the trap with blue tape 🤦🏻. The valve is difficult to remove, but it can be done. The faucet in the bathtub has no pressure, allowing for a good body wash, but washing your hair is extremely difficult. There's no ironing board or iron in the room; they are provided upon request, with a 20-30 minute wait. The ironing board is far from fresh, and a thin, multi-purpose cover is stretched over a dented metal frame, causing it to dangle in folds. There's no door lock (latch or chain), and the switch on the lock doesn't prevent hotel staff from accessing the room. Waking up to a service representative walking around the room is a real experience. I encountered this after the first night, and I've since put up a ”do not disturb” sign. If your room isn't cleaned in the morning, for any reason, it won't be cleaned that day without your reminder.

This is the second hotel I stayed at in Almaty. It's definitely an old-money style hotel. The hotel is located near the Koktobe cable car, which is convenient for getting around. The breakfast selection is not extensive, but it's still quite nice. The past two days have been sunny in Almaty. It's a great start to the new year!

Overall, it was a decent stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and communicated well throughout our stay. The only disappointment was that our premium room was advertised with two queen beds but only had one. Also, the room had no windows, which was a bit of a bummer. Other than that, everything was fine.

I stayed for 4 nights on this business trip, booking a Deluxe City View King Room. The overall experience was quite average, so here's a reference for those considering staying: 1. **Cleanliness**: 4/5. The room was generally clean during daily housekeeping, with no obvious stains on the bedding or surfaces, making for a comfortable stay. 2. **Environment & Amenities**: 3/5. Public areas weren't very well maintained, and the city view was quite ordinary, with no outstanding features. 3. **Service & Facilities**: Both 3/5. Basic needs were met, but the facilities were generally outdated, and service response was slow. It took a long time to get issues resolved. This hotel is more suitable for short business trips as a temporary stopover. You can choose it if you don't have high expectations for facilities and service.
