Amazing
GGuest UserWe stayed at the hotel as a family for 2+3 nights, in different rooms. The room was spacious and had a small kitchen and a washing machine, plus a large shower. We ran into an issue in the second room: the previous guests had left the air conditioning on heating at 30 degrees, and it wouldn't start. We're not used to heating with AC, so we tried different modes and didn't think to just lower the temperature ourselves. We contacted customer support, but since they don't work overnight, we only got a response in the morning. Ultimately, we had to start the AC at 20-22 degrees and then gradually raise it to 26. It's worth remembering that Japan doesn't have central heating, so rooms will always feel a bit cool. There's paid luggage storage right by the entrance, which is probably good if you're worried about leaving valuables in your room. Also, there are luggage lockers at almost every subway station. For a late checkout, it's probably best to leave your bags somewhere in the city center. We really liked the neighborhood: lots of 24-hour convenience stores. Near the MCD subway station, there's Starbucks and local restaurants. In the shopping center, past the Starbucks, they have excellent donuts in the morning, and good sushi too. In the evenings, we walked to the tower. The value for money for a family room was excellent. Thanks for the hospitality!
OOctaviane Stefina EnggraWe checked in around 11 PM, and staff were still available, making the process quick and smooth. The lobby offered comics and other entertainment. Free breakfast was also served from 5 AM to 10 AM. While some noise is unavoidable, light sleepers can use the provided earplugs. For me, someone who falls asleep the moment my head hits the pillow, it wasn't an issue at all. The bathrooms were spotless and fully equipped. You could arrive with absolutely nothing and be perfectly fine.
DDigitalNomad TravelerSurprisingly Great Stay in Shinjuku!
I didn’t expect the hotel to be this good — it really exceeded my expectations! The place is modern, clean, and fully equipped with great amenities. From the bathroom to the capsule, everything was well-designed and thoughtfully provided — including pajamas and slippers. The capsule bed was quite comfortable and the design was sleek and stylish. The shared café/lounge area was also nice and cozy.
Location-wise, it’s perfect! Just a 3-minute walk to the nearest station, and super close to 7-Eleven, cafes, and restaurants around the Shin-Okubo/Shinjuku area. Very convenient for exploring Tokyo.
One thing to improve: the reception staff could be a bit more friendly and welcoming. A simple smile upon guest arrival would go a long way, especially for a hotel in the hospitality industry.
Overall, I had an amazing 2-night stay here — definitely a great place to stay in Shinjuku!

GGuest UserMy stay at Tora Hotel Asakusa offered a mixed yet overall pleasant experience in the heart of Tokyo’s historic Asakusa district. Nestled in a quiet, residential neighborhood, the hostel provides a safe and serene environment, making it comfortable to return late in the evening after exploring the city. The location, while charming and peaceful, is about a 10-15 minute walk from Asakusa Station. For those weary from a day of sightseeing, this distance might feel a bit far, but the tranquil surroundings help balance it out.
The dorm-style accommodations are functional, featuring standard metal bunk beds. While sturdy, the beds can be a bit noisy, particularly when someone is moving on the upper bunk, which might disturb light sleepers. The shared facilities are clean, though it’s worth noting that showers are located on the ground floor, which may be inconvenient for those staying on higher levels. Towels and basic toiletries are provided upon check-in, with the option to purchase additional sets if you prefer daily replacements—an understandable policy for a budget-friendly hostel.
Storage is provided via metal lockers, which are secure but can generate some noise when accessed, so considerate use is appreciated to avoid disturbing fellow guests. The front desk staff were generally welcoming, though their English proficiency varied. Some were fluent and eager to assist, while others were less confident, which occasionally made communication a little challenging but never insurmountable.
Overall, Tora Hotel Asakusa is a solid choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking a safe and affordable base in a vibrant part of Tokyo. While there are minor inconveniences, such as the walk from the station and the shared facilities, the low cost and peaceful neighborhood make it a worthwhile option for those prioritizing value and location. I’d recommend it to backpackers or solo travelers looking for a no-frills stay with easy access to Asakusa’s cultural gems.

WWeiHooI have tried a few capsule hotels, this is by far the worst. My capsule was on the fifth floor, but the lockers are located on the fourth floor which is very inconvenient since the shower is on the eighth floor. There is a sitting area outside the capsule room which is an unsightly mess as shown in the pictures. The mattress is hard and uncomfortable. What bothered me the most is the door that supposed to shun off the noise from outside, made a loud noise when it closes. I wonder if they are not aware of it or no one complains to them. Imagine how many people comes in and out the entire night and the cranky noise disturbed my sleep. I hope the management will be made known of this default. I will never come back again.
AAnonymous UserGreat staff and cleanliness, but some guests could be more considerate
Had a very pleasant stay at IMANO Hostel Tokyo. The staff were extremely friendly, polite, and helpful. They kept the place clean and made the atmosphere very welcoming. The facilities, showers, and toilets were all well maintained and tidy.
However, some other travelers were not so considerate and made the shared spaces dirty with food stains at times, which was disappointing since the staff clearly work hard to keep everything clean.
The location is quite convenient, it's pretty close to the nearest station, but a bit far if you’re heading to the main Shinjuku Station area
In the morning roughly around 10am, few girls will sell bentos outside the hostel, they're pretty cheap and very delicious, give them a try.
Overall, recommended. Definitely a great place to stay in Tokyo.

MmariahnStayed for 2 nights. The capsule hotel was alright for its price, since we only spent about 25 dollars for a night on the Women Only floor. The capsules themselves were pretty clean and spacious, especially convenient if you have the lower bunk. The capsules were assigned to us randomly though. They are pretty soundproof even though they close with just a curtain, but I didn’t hear anyone’s alarm or anything like that, plus you must be quiet in the capsule area. So if everyone is abiding by that rule everything should be fine. There is a built-in alarm in the capsules and a pretty smart lighting system with a lighting intensity control knob. The shower cabins were just a bit dirty, only two of them on the floor, but we never had to wait to use them. There were lockers for each capsule on the floor, pretty convenient. The “kitchen space” on the first floor was very small, we never ate there. Just a general lack of common space in this hotel - you can only sleep here, or sit in the rooftop “bar” (which we also didn’t do cause it was still too cold in April. If you’re like us who spends their whole day walking the town and don’t mind eating in cafes or anywhere else than it’s for you. If you would like to dine or work in the hotel then find a place with a bigger and more versatile common space. In the shower you can use common shampoos, soaps and conditioners, as well as hair dryers, but stuff like toothbrushing kits, razors, ear plugs - you can only buy it at the reception desk. We didn’t use the laundry room either because it’s these usual japanese laundromats which wash and dry only for about 30 minutes but cost 200 yen each + you must still pay for detergent (at the reception desk as well). But all in all, it’s a great budget hotel for its price. Not too dirty and pretty convenient. About 10 minute walk from the metro station, but you shouldn’t cut through the neighborhood and take the long route instead to avoid countless red light establishments, as this area looks dangerous to walk at night, if you’re a woman.
GGuest UserNice guest house located in front of the west exit of the local station. 50 minutes direct to Shibuya and 7/11 and store within 5 minutes. Food and Restaurant 5 min away and the guest house is ran well by the staff who are friendly. My stay was great.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is nice, it's quite spacious, quiet and has all the necessary tools. The view on the skytree tower is also terrific. The pillows are also not the worst. I would stay there one more time, but there are some small cons, of course:
- the furniture may be a little bit worn out,
- there is a kettle but no tea etc.
- reception staff is not that often seen but we didn't have any problems to need them
- distance from the subway and buses, especially if you use the Tokyo metro pass.
To summarize: for me the price-quality ratio here for Tokyo is quite good, moreover in this district I wouldn't like to live near the subway as it gets super crowded and noisy.

GGuest UserAuthentic experience at the capsule inn. Traditional bathing room showers for the men only, this was a cool experience, the showers were great and the communal aspect was traditional and interesting. The showers were very good and the traditional robe was a nice touch. A lot of locals were there so the experience felt more emersive. The pod itself was large enough for me and my bags as there were no bag lockers, so this was good for peace of mind. The staff didn't speak much English but we are in Japan, not England, so again, it helped with the experience.
Great stay, interesting and traditional. Just 30 minutes walk from tokyo main station through quiet areas. Plenty of shops nearby.
