"Last week's continuous rain in Dali really dampened my spirits. I'd been seriously debating whether to still take my child to Dali this week, not wanting to waste a whole week of annual leave for nothing. After much deliberation, I decided to just go for it and see what happens. But the moment I saw Erhai Lake, I knew: it was absolutely the right decision! So glad we came! Dali gifted us with beautiful weather. Erhai Lake is simply breathtaking. It has that serene, timeless beauty. ☀️🌊 Itinerary Day 1: We drove over 4 hours from Fuxian Lake to Dali, arriving early in the afternoon when the sun was shining beautifully. We stayed at a guesthouse along the Erhai Ecological Corridor, boasting massive floor-to-ceiling windows that looked right out onto Erhai Lake. Even my child exclaimed, 'Wow, this is so peaceful!' You could tell the owner had put a lot of thought into the guesthouse's decor. Every corner was picture-perfect. There were no unnecessary frills, yet everything felt refined and thoughtfully placed. It gets dark quite late in Dali, so after we dropped off our bags and relaxed for a bit at the guesthouse, we went to rent bicycles. If you're traveling with kids, I highly recommend renting bikes with a rear-mounted child safety seat. They come with seatbelts, so you don't have to worry about them falling off. At 30 yuan per day, I thought it was incredibly good value for money. Even though we only started riding in the late afternoon, we managed to cycle for almost two hours. The gentle breeze was just heavenly! Comparing it to Chongqing, which feels like an oven, this place was simply divine. During our ride, we stumbled upon a lovely, shallow spot perfect for children to splash around in. It was so pretty! We immediately ordered wading suits for delivery, planning to come back and play there first thing in the morning if the weather held up. We didn't have dinner until around 8 PM, opting for a casual eatery. Their seafood fried rice was absolutely delicious! And spicy! It was actually our 7th wedding anniversary today. We didn't pick a fancy restaurant or have a celebratory cake, but we still felt incredibly happy and content with how the day unfolded. ☺️ After dinner, we leisurely cycled back to return our bikes, then took a relaxed stroll back to our guesthouse. I asked the friendly guy at the front desk to warm up some milk for our son, and the rice noodles we had the next morning were also fantastic! Yunnan's rice noodles might look fiery with their red chili oil, but they're surprisingly mild, so kids can enjoy them without a problem. When we checked out, the staff member kindly helped us with our luggage and drove us to the parking area in their shuttle. He was incredibly friendly and helpful. Looking forward to Day 2!"

"This guesthouse was an amazing experience! The owner was incredibly warm and attentive, offering meticulous and thoughtful service. They even helped carry our luggage to the room upon check-in. It's super pet-friendly, which is a huge plus for pet owners like us, and there were so many adorable little cats in the yard. We also enjoyed a complimentary afternoon tea, and they even gave us a thoughtful souvenir when we checked out, which was such a lovely touch. The room itself was clean and tidy, very comfortable to stay in, and offered great value for money. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit and highly recommend it to everyone!"

"Our hotel stay this time was absolutely perfect! As soon as we entered the lobby, the warm and comfortable decor made a great impression. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and professional; check-in was quick and efficient, and they even kindly recommended some great local restaurants. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and we had a wonderfully sweet night's sleep. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the toiletries were of good quality. Breakfast offered a rich variety of nutritious and delicious options. The location is superb, with malls and attractions all around, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. Excellent value for money; we'll definitely stay here again next time we're in the area!"

"This was my most satisfying stay in Dali during my fourth trip. The room was super clean and spacious; two suitcases could be laid out without getting in the way. The bathtub was huge and even came with bathtub and toilet seat covers – such a thoughtful touch! After a day of sightseeing, a bath was so relaxing and rejuvenating. The airport shuttle bus to the Old Town was just a few minutes' walk. During the day, the area was quiet with only restaurants and shops, but it transformed at night. At the crossroads, the left side of the street was full of bars and folk music venues – perfect for relaxing with a drink on the sidewalk. The right side was a street full of snacks and fruits, very convenient. And just 6 minutes from the guesthouse was the rice noodle shop my friend highly recommended – it was really good, I think it was called ”Under the Tree Restaurant” – we went there. The hotel also had a place to dry clothes, so we could hang them up immediately after washing. Dali was our first stop in Yunnan, and the great accommodation and fun activities made our entire trip very enjoyable. The owner was a lovely guy from Northeast China – easygoing and straightforward, giving us a comfortable feeling. I rarely write reviews, but this time I felt I had to. And during my stay, I kept recommending it to my best friend – you absolutely must stay here when you come to Dali! Hahaha."

"The location is fantastic, nestled between Wase and Shuanglang, away from the hustle and bustle, and right by Erhai Lake. The cherry blossoms along the road are in full bloom, and the redwoods line the water. The hotel's garden landscaping is incredibly charming, with white reeds and red roses set against the blue Erhai Lake and grey Cangshan Mountain – I think it's the most appealing garden I've ever seen. Erhai Lake is absolutely beautiful this time of year. Our room had a wonderful view and was well-equipped. The complimentary afternoon tea and fruit from the staff were of excellent quality. Breakfast was plentiful, the rice noodles were delicious, and the soy milk was so good my partner had two cups! The food at the neighboring Pomegranate Courtyard (Shiliu Xiaoyuan) was also great; the cured pork stir-fried with mushrooms was particularly tasty. The location is truly superb, and the scenery is stunning. We ended up staying two nights."

"I stayed at Chunri Homestay for several days during the Chinese New Year. The owners are incredibly kind and thoughtful! They not only gave us a detailed travel itinerary but also carefully recommended delicious and affordable restaurants nearby. They even took us to Wuwu Temple for a vegetarian meal. The guesthouse rooms are decorated with a lot of character, and the surroundings are beautiful. The most important thing, though, is the human touch – the owner's wife made us tea, and the owner picked us up in his car. Plus, we could ride free electric scooters around every day, which was a lot of fun! I absolutely have to recommend this place, and I'll definitely be back!"

"We took a Didi taxi from Dali High-Speed Railway Station to Huafang Guniang Bar (Flower House Girl Bar). Normally, the trip takes about 45 minutes, but because of heavy traffic, it ended up taking us around 90 minutes. When booking a Didi taxi, it’s important to be careful with this destination since there’s another place with the same name in Lijiang city. Also, it’s better not to use “Bu Xian Shan” as the destination, because this can confuse the driver. When we arrived, the guesthouse staff, Zhou Zhou and Xiao Peng, were already waiting for us. They kindly guided us to the guesthouse by walking which was only about a three-minute walk away. They even helped us download an English version of the local map, Amap which was really thoughtful and made it much easier for us to get around. On top of that, they told us about local activities and food options, which was super helpful. The guesthouse has a really great location. It’s very close to Yu’er Road, which is one of the busiest and most popular streets in Dali Ancient City. Other well-known nearby streets include Renmin Road, Fuxing Road, and Huguo Road, which is also called Foreigner Street. Being so close to these main streets makes exploring the city really convenient. There are plenty of restaurants near the guesthouse, so you won’t have trouble finding somewhere to eat. Some of the nearby places even offer BBQ, which is really convenient if you want a casual meal without going far. The room that we booked was big and had a spa and mountain view. Unfortunately, the built-in jets that created massaging, bubbling streams were not working. There was a free-wifi but the signal was weak in our room."

"The hotel environment is fantastic. You can see the ocean right from your bed, which is beautiful. The restaurant downstairs is lovely when the sun is out, giving off a great seaside vibe. The breakfast and afternoon tea are very rich and delicious. The front desk staff, especially the ladies, are incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. They even recommended some local spots for us to visit. Highly recommended!"
