Front office colleague - Peiyu is the star. She checked in for us with welcome back note. She arranged rooms for us accommodating our request. She greeted us whenever we passed by the reception counter. Only the hotel will keep on calling you to leave room to check out which is quite irritating. Anyway Peiyu and the Room Attendant auntie is friendly and always provide top notch service. Humble house is a great choice

I had a fantastic stay at Capella Taipei and would 💯 percent recommend.   Room: bed was super comfy. Love the Dyson hairdryer. Thank you for the lovely cake and balloons. Totally exceeded my expectations.  Breakfast menu: menu was limited but dishes were thoughtfully curated and of high quality. It was an indulgence to have oysters for breakfast.  Truly appreciate the lovely birthday surprise gift from the Capella team! Capella Moments: what a great idea to provide the cultural Immersion experience for guests.  Staffs are the life and soul of any brand so here’s a shout out to:  Shuang Shuang, teacher for the Hakka umbrella activity.  She was so encouraging and patient. Judy, another teacher weaved a bookmark specially for me!  Jason, Culturalist was knowledgeable about Taiwan history and Capella’s heritage.  I learnt so much from him during the morning ritual.  The staffs at the Living room and night ritual were friendly and accommodating.  Truly impressed with the Capella team for making this stay so unforgettable!  You have a winning team at all levels who is passionate in how they show up for the brand, for the guests.  It’s evident they want to delight and exceed expectations.  I hope to be back very soon.

Perhaps it's because I've stayed at more five-star hotels, but the Mandarin Oriental Taipei didn't quite give me that luxurious feeling. The welcome amenity was just two small desserts and a cup of rosella tea, which was a bit disappointing. Also, I dined at Tajima Tei within the hotel, and when I checked in earlier, I asked if there was a discount for dining, but the staff said no. This was a bit inconsistent with reality (in fact, presenting the room card waives the service charge), which was a small letdown. Furthermore, the hairdryer was a not-so-premium Tescom, which was a minor shame. Everything else was good, and I would still consider staying here again.

Some hotels give you a room. Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei gave us a base for a trip we'll talk about for years. From the moment we walked in, the place felt considered, elegant without being cold, warm without losing its polish. That balance is rare, and it set the tone for everything that followed. Traveling with kids changes what matters most in a stay, and this hotel understood that instinctively. My children felt safe here, genuinely safe, the kind of safe that let them run ahead in the lobby and laugh without me flinching. Security throughout the property was excellent, present but never intrusive, the kind of quiet competence that lets a family actually relax instead of staying on guard. The location did the rest. Close enough to walk to some of Taipei's best food, the kind of meals that turn into stories you tell later, and near enough to the city's main sites that our days felt full without ever feeling rushed. Every outing started and ended easily, which meant more time enjoying Taipei and less time managing logistics. Back at the hotel each evening, the rooms were spacious, immaculate, and quietly luxurious, the kind of space that makes you want to slow down. Staff treated our kids with the same warmth and respect they showed us, which matters more than most hotels realize. This wasn't just a comfortable stay. It was a beautiful one, the kind that makes you rethink what a family trip can feel like when everything, safety, comfort, location, care, comes together the way it should. We left grateful, and we'll be back.

Whenever we get the chance, I try to take my family on trips while we can still gather together. This time, we visited Yangmingshan and Beitou, and it was actually my first time truly staying in Beitou. Before, most of my visits here were for work, like setting up a stall at the Beitou Market, always a quick in-and-out. But I've always heard great things about Beitou's hot spring hotels, and my mother often mentioned this place, so I arranged this short trip for the weekend. We stayed at Hotel Royal Beitou, and it was my first time experiencing the 'Hotel Royal' brand. In the past, I'd only dined at their properties in Taitung and Jiaoxi, and my impression of the brand has always been one of quality and meticulous service. After actually staying there, it certainly lived up to its reputation. From the facilities to the service, you could feel their attention to detail. The activities arranged by the hotel, in particular, were quite different from typical hot spring hotels – things like escape rooms, yoga classes, and night tours made the stay more than just a place to sleep for a night. The rooftop hot spring bath, though not huge, had a very comfortable atmosphere. It's a shame you couldn't see much of the scenery at night; otherwise, it would have been even better. Since we love hot springs, we really pay attention to the amenities and toiletries. The lounge here offers iced tea and ice cream, and the toiletries in the bathing area are top-notch, even including scalp and facial care products. Also, the room used a 'Sleeptofu' mattress and pillows, which were incredibly comfortable – easily one of the best night's sleep I've had recently. The only minor downside was that parking fees were an additional cost. For accommodation priced close to ten thousand per night, having to pay extra for parking feels a bit disappointing.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at The Gaia Hotel. Nestled in a quiet and secluded part of Beitou, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently located near attractions such as the Beitou Library and local market. The service was warm, friendly and genuinely welcoming. The attentive staff remembered small details that made us feel especially well cared for, such as our shuttle bus bookings and even my preferred drink, which was served to me each morning when I arrived at the restaurant for breakfast. The shuttle bus drivers were also extremely friendly and always looked out for our comfort and well-being. Breakfast was served semi-buffet style, with a delicious spread. I particularly enjoyed the fresh and varied salad bar and honestly, the food was worth every calorie! We also tried the Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea, which was beautifully presented and a very interesting experience. Our room was large, spacious and extremely comfortable. The luxurious Bvlgari toiletries were the perfect finishing touch. The main purpose of our stay was to enjoy the onsen and it certainly did not disappoint. It was fabulous, peaceful and not too crowded, which made the experience even more calming and soothing. Overall, we had a truly memorable experience at The Gaia Hotel. I would gladly recommend it to others and will definitely return for another stay.

1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. This hotel is super close to Songshan Airport, just 4 kilometers away. A taxi ride takes about ten minutes, or you can take the MRT for three stops, which is incredibly convenient. There are some great restaurants right in the same building; I tried two this time, and both were good. ********* food is always delicious, though the prices weren't exactly cheap. The hotel room was spacious, and the view was nice. For breakfast, the fruit selection was amazing, especially with tropical fruits like kiwi 🥝, dragon fruit, and papaya. I loved it!

Overall, the in room hot spring experience was comfortable and fantastic. Breakfast selection was not a lot but simple enough to fill up for the morning. One minor issue, it was not a peak season, the shuttle bus operating time was less which this was not nice and they didn’t tell us about the sign I should look for the shuttle bus at the town center. I can’t able to find the shuttle bus spot.

The room facilities were well-maintained, and the front desk service was excellent. The hotel's location is superb, with convenient transportation. However, the deposit issue has been a hassle. It's been three weeks since I returned home, and more than 15 business days have passed, but the deposit still hasn't been refunded! I've contacted the hotel twice and my bank, but it's still unresolved! Usually, deposits are refunded instantly upon checkout. I've never encountered such a poorly managed 5-star hotel; it's truly unacceptable!
