GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at Doubletree Zhongshan. Location is super convenient. The MTR station is a 5 minute walk and there’s a lot of nice restaurants and shops within a 15-20 minute walking radius. There’s also a park and a fruit stand.

AAkaixWas hesitant before booking this hotel as Japanese hotel rooms are generally smaller than usual as compared to taiwan local hotels. To my surprise, it was quite spacious! Able to open up my luggage fully on the floor without obstruction and a sofa area to chill. TV was okay with alot of ********* channels but had some issues connecting my netflix despite following the on screen instructions. Overall it was a positive experience! Will visit again!

AAnonymous UserThere's construction on one side of the hotel, and the old windows don't close properly, so diesel fumes from the crane wafted directly into the bedroom. Not to mention the noise from the building work – imagine driving a car without air conditioning, stuck behind a diesel truck constantly spewing exhaust fumes. The result? A headache that required painkillers. Luckily, Trip.com was great and got me a room change. The mattress is very soft, so if you prefer lumbar support, you should reconsider. The family with kids next door was very noisy, and the front desk promptly moved me to another room. The transportation is very convenient, with the MRT station just a two-minute walk away. The hotel lobby is like an MRT platform, bustling with people – from young to old, student groups to limping seniors, all attending some event. It's the opposite of quiet. If you enjoy crowded fairs, you might like the lively atmosphere. Even checking in took about 10 minutes.

Mmimi0513Let's start with the positives: The doorman, lobby manager, and front desk staff were all very professional, living up to the reputation of a renowned international hotel. The room was spacious, bright, and clean. Now for the negatives: It lacks grandeur. The lobby entrance is too narrow, making it feel like a busy market when crowded. The facilities are mediocre. The bidet toilet was installed too high; even at 172cm, my feet couldn't touch the ground when seated. The TV was incredibly small, disproportionate to the room size. The most frustrating issue was the poor soundproofing. The guests next door in room 1225 were speaking English, and perhaps they couldn't control their volume, but I could hear their conversations clearly, which was very loud and disturbing. This was extremely disappointing. Due to construction, the Ferris wheel was almost completely obscured. This isn't the hotel's fault, but rather an objective circumstance.

GGuest User1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. Thank you for your attention.

GGuest UserFantastic hotel! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here during my trip to Taipei. A fun little bonus was being able to grab candy from the snack shop next door every day. The room was really smart, and I loved having a square bathtub and bath salts. Highly recommend!

GGuest UserThis is an older hotel so the decor is a little outdated, and has a slight musty smell. We also noticed that when we came back one evening, there was a strong sewerage smell in the bathroom. The shower door isn’t entirely waterproof and water leaks out during the shower such that there is always a puddle in the bathroom after the shower, and which does not dry overnight. The location is pretty quiet, even though there is a construction site directly opposite. However, we could occasionally hear thudding from the rooms above, which we assume were the guests above us moving about. We could also hear furniture being moved about in the room above in the morning (around 9am), possibly the cleaners making up the room. The wifi is not very good, and often did not connect or was very slow. We raised this with the front desk but they mentioned this was normal and the wifi is usually only sufficient for messaging apps. We largely used our roaming plan to research and plan our activities at the beginning of each day as the wifi was unreliable. We had to do some work during our stay and ended up relying on roaming to hotspot. The TV is a smart TV and while it has YouTube and Netflix apps built in, the slow wifi means you can’t really use it. We sometimes had the TV on for background noise but the remote didn’t really work other than to turn the TV on and off. The hotel doesn’t provide toothbrushes, etc. but you can purchase them from the front desk. The location is conveniently located near a MRT station, Family Mart, 7 Eleven and Fu Hang Soy Milk. We only took the hotel breakfast on the first day as it was just sandwiches, and we preferred to save room to try other foods. The staff are friendly and helpful, and speak English well. The rooms are large, the bed is also large and comfortable. There is a water dispenser with hot and cold water located by the lifts on each floor which is very convenient. We had chosen this hotel as we planned our trip last minute and a lot of the hotels in Taipei are quite expensive. Jiamei was affordable and was good value for money, and we would consider booking again.
