No. 1 of Luxury Hotels in Taipei

Rejuvenate at our spa, a restorative retreat sculpted with organic curves and a grounding atmosphere, that welcomes you to fully unwind. Capella Taipei reveals a new layer of the city's rich character, blending tradition with modern allure through immersive experiences, from exploring the city's oldest neighbourhoods to visiting a scenic tea farm nestled in the mountains.

"Facilities: As it's a relatively new hotel, all the facilities are very new and clean. The only downside is that the shower door's waterproof strip was faulty, so every time I showered, water leaked out and wet the bathroom floor. I had to use many towels to soak up the water, which is unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be high-end; such a small detail should not be an issue. Hygiene: As mentioned, the hygiene was excellent, which is expected from a new hotel. The housekeeping staff did an acceptable job. Ambiance: I particularly loved the decor; it's simple yet luxurious, modern yet refined, showing a great sense of style. Service: As an experienced traveler, I believe the service doesn't match a hotel that claims to be the top luxury hotel in Taipei. While the local Taiwanese staff are professional with their smiles and greetings, there's no warmth. You feel a coldness behind their smiles and enthusiasm. Dining: Overall, the dining was quite disappointing. They have a lounge, which functions like an executive lounge, but all the food was very ordinary. The drinks were excellent, but breakfast was also very average; the bread and food didn't live up to the hotel's luxurious decor. This was a major letdown. The breakfast and lounge food were far inferior to what you'd find at the Mandarin Oriental, which was quite disappointing. Summary: I've stayed in many hotels in Taiwan, including the Mandarin Oriental, Hyatt, and W. From a luxury, value-for-money, and service perspective, Cappella should not be ranked as Taipei's number one luxury hotel, for the following reasons: While the hardware is excellent, some details are lacking. As I mentioned, the bathroom's waterproof strip, and there was also a strange smell in the room, possibly due to the new renovation. These details need improvement to truly be considered Taipei's top luxury hotel. More importantly, the service needs work. Overall, the hotel should further strengthen its staff training on service to ensure guests genuinely feel their service is warm and thoughtful, rather than just professional. Only then will it live up to its luxury status and price. If you ask me to recommend this hotel, I have reservations. Given its reputation and price, it's not worth recommending. Perhaps if the value for money were better, it might be worth a try."

"The staff were incredibly welcoming. As soon as I entered the room, I could feel the hotel's thoughtful and cozy decor. The private hot spring bath was huge and even had a cold spring water pool, which was perfect for a refreshing rinse after a soak. The mini-bar in the room had a great variety of drinks. In the afternoon, they delivered complimentary fruit and snacks, and in the evening, there was even plum wine for a nightcap – absolutely fantastic! I stayed for two nights and got to enjoy two different breakfasts, both Chinese and Western set meals, which were incredibly rich, refined, and delicious."

"Hotel staff got my booking wrong and assigned me a wrong room category. The initial room was noisy and I could hear construction noise from the site opposite the hotel despite being up on the 18th floor. Soundproofing is rather poor as I can occasionally hear people's conversations as they walk along the corridor. The lounge was a nice touch though the food offerings especially during the afternoon tea and breakfast service could be better. Service in the club lounge was generally good but could be slower during busy times. Location of the hotel was good being minutes from the shopping and dining area."

"Room was big enough for 2 person and 2 small luggage, there’s even a sofa for me to lie down. There was a small onsen like tub which was amazing although it was slightly stained with mold around the grouting (I used hot water to clean it then used the tub). Bed was comfortable! Gym was alright, there’s a smith machine, weights, treadmills. Not very big and was actually slightly warm as it was summer when I went. Service was fairly good. I sprained my ankle and they were very happy to provide ice, towel and pillow. Plus points that we really like was they had free snack bar beside their hotel! Can try many different sweets, biscuits and jelly. There’s a big carrefour nearby too! Really recommend!"

"The biggest highlight of our Taiwan trip, hands down. The Grand Hotel is truly one of the best hotels in Greater China. As soon as we got out of the taxi, someone was there to greet us and help with our luggage, allowing us to go straight to check-in. I booked a room in the side wing. After taking the shuttle bus to the side wing, the only minor drawback was having to walk up a few steps, but it wasn't a big issue. From the room, you could see Songshan Airport and the Taipei city skyline. If you went up to the public areas on higher floors, you could catch the Taipei sunset. The public areas were outstanding. Taking photos late at night, there was hardly anyone around. Walking through the grand and majestic lobby felt like an coronation. Room size was also quite generous, and the hygiene was impeccable. The linens were spotlessly clean. The service was very comprehensive and attentive, though perhaps lacking a bit of warmth. The biggest issue, however, was transportation. For budget travelers, relying on the MRT is key, and getting from The Grand Hotel to the MRT station required waiting for a shuttle bus. However, there were also taxis available right outside the hotel, and Taipei's taxi fares are quite reasonable, so it was acceptable overall. All in all, an excellent experience."
