No. 9 of Gourmet Hotels in Jiangsu"I visited Yangzhou in March, a beautiful time of year, and stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel. It definitely lived up to its five-star reputation, offering a truly commendable experience.
The hotel's overall ambiance was elegant and tranquil, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were polite, attentive, and consistently warm and thoughtful, which left a great impression.
I opted for the Horizon Club executive floor, and the room was spacious and expansive, providing a real sense of roominess and high living comfort. The executive benefits included complimentary afternoon tea and evening canapés. To be honest, the afternoon tea selection was a bit limited and the taste was just average. However, the evening canapés were of better quality, with more variety and better flavors.
I made sure to dine at the hotel's Shang Palace, which is Yangzhou's only Michelin one-star restaurant. The dining environment was elegant and steeped in ancient charm, and the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. Dishes like Soft-shelled Turtle, Yangzhou Fried Rice, and Smoked Fish were all authentic and excellent, leaving me very satisfied. The only slight disappointment was the Steamed Lion's Head, which was a bit underwhelming in both texture and flavor, a minor pity.
The only slight drawback was that the underground parking garage facilities felt a bit outdated. The hardware didn't quite match the five-star positioning, which was a small detractor.
Overall, the service, environment, and room type were all exceptional. The executive floor offered good value for money, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone vacationing in Yangzhou."

This Hampton by Hilton has truly excellent hygiene. I had such a wonderful time exploring the local cuisine in Yangzhou; every meal was cleared! The people along Slender West Lake and Qinhuai River were all so cultured and sophisticated, which is really impressive! I'll definitely stay at this hotel again on my next visit!"

2026 Global 100 - Gourmet Hotels"Staying at Yangzhou Yingbinguan, I felt the full romance of a spring day in Jiangnan ✨.
I took my mom on a trip to Yangzhou and was instantly smitten with Yangzhou Yingbinguan! From check-in to check-out, every detail perfectly hit the mark for aesthetics and comfort. Half of the joy of this trip came from this amazing hotel!
🏡 Living in a Jiangnan Garden, every step is a poem.
The entire complex is a massive traditional Chinese garden, with pavilions, towers, small bridges over flowing water, and rockeries. In spring, cherry blossoms and crabapples are in full bloom, and black swans gracefully swim on the lake. Even the air is filled with the fragrant scent of plants and trees.
We stayed in Building 11, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared welcome gifts: 'Mi San Dao', 'Xiao Mabing', and 'Niupi Tang' from Qilin Pavilion, along with specialty pastries embossed with 'Yangzhou'. The room facilities were also very new.
Shuttle carts were available on call throughout the park, making it super convenient to get from our room to Quyuan or other places. It was so thoughtful for traveling with seniors, as they didn't have to walk too much!
📸 Hanfu Styling, bringing the spring vibe to life.
The package included a Hanfu photoshoot, located on the first floor of Building 11. There were dozens of Hanfu styles, and the free options were quite good. If you preferred, paid options were an additional 100 RMB.
We also added makeup and styling for 100 RMB per person. The makeup artist was excellent; even with many guests waiting, she was very dedicated. The photographer was also great, skilled at guiding poses. My mom's photos turned out gentle and elegant! We received 5 free lightly retouched photos, and additional retouches were only 20 RMB/photo, which was good value for money.
🍜 Quyuan, a Black Pearl Restaurant.
Quyuan Teahouse, a Black Pearl 1-diamond restaurant, is conveniently located right within Yingbinguan, meaning you don't have to leave the hotel to experience it! It does get very busy, so it's a good idea to get a number in advance and then explore nearby. The hotel's own breakfast was also excellent.
🚶♀️ Direct Access to Slender West Lake, no queuing is a blessing!
On the second day, to visit Slender West Lake, the hotel has an exclusive fast lane! No need to wait in long queues at the scenic area entrance; you can enter directly from the hotel grounds. This was truly stress-free for traveling with seniors (normal admission tickets are still required).
The hotel garden seamlessly connects to Slender West Lake. In spring, Slender West Lake is vibrant with green willows and colorful flowers, with beautiful scenery at every turn.
🎭 Intangible Cultural Heritage Mini-Theater, an immersive experience of Yangzhou folk customs.
During the holidays, the hotel arranged an 'Intangible Cultural Heritage Mini-Theater', which truly amazed us! Yangzhou puppet shows, Yangzhou Qingqu opera, and Yangzhou Pinghua storytelling were performed in rotation. The performers were all professional, and acts like puppet calligraphy and pipa serenades were full of Yangzhou charm.
This trip to Yangzhou, Yangzhou Yingbinguan truly gave us so many surprises. From the garden landscape and thoughtful service to the delicious food and intangible cultural heritage experiences, all the beauty of Yangzhou was concentrated here.
When traveling with your mom, choosing the right hotel is so important! Next time I come to Yangzhou, I will definitely stay here again!"

A special thank you to Ms. Zhao Jiang for her excellent service. Also, there was another staff member who, when cleaning our room, noticed our dirty laundry and left a note reminding us about the hotel's self-service laundry. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite make out her name on the note, it looked something like Jiang Yushun? (I've attached a photo of the note, thank you to her as well!) If I ever go to Yangzhou again, I'll definitely stay here."

No. 3 of Scenic Hotels in Yangzhou"Let's start with the downsides: Since the family room can accommodate three adults, there should be three sets of towels, bath towels, tooth mugs, drinking glasses, and coffee cups, not just two. Even children or teenagers need their own bath towel and tooth mug. Also, the curtain button was sometimes a bit unresponsive.
Now for the positives:
1. The location is excellent, making it convenient to get anywhere. You can walk to the South Gate of Slender West Lake, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
2. The breakfast was good; while not exceptionally lavish, it had everything you'd expect. The coffee came from a machine and tasted great.
3. The terraces on four of the floors are a major highlight! Breakfast is on the 11th floor (top floor), and on a nice day, you can dine on the terrace, enjoying the lush forest view and a distant glimpse of the Qiling Pagoda while being shielded from the sun – a fantastic experience. You can also enjoy the night view in the evening.
4. The hairdryer is a Dyson, and in the lobby downstairs, there's a coffee machine, tea, hot water, and bottled water available."

"The cat is cute and gentle, and the store manager is also very enthusiastic. When you enter the door, you feel a fresh smell. The room type is not bad and very clean and tidy. The only small drawback is that the room type I set may not be very large. Next time I change to another room type. Look, It is worthy of praise that the pillows really like very high and thick and soft, unlike other hotel pillows crumpled (˵¯͒〰¯͒˵), especially the public billiards because of time problems, I didn’t have time to have fun haha will come again next time."

No. 2 of Hot Spring Hotels in Jiangsu"The resort's overall environment and landscaping are absolutely beautiful, with a very comfortable Jiangnan-style (Southern China) aesthetic. We stayed in a private hot spring villa with a well-designed layout and excellent privacy. It's pet-friendly, and although they charged a 300 RMB fee, our dog had a great time.
The private hot spring requires two hours to fill in advance, and the staff taught us how to heat it, which was a good experience. However, they didn't show us how to drain it, and when we asked the next day, we were told, 'We already taught you yesterday,' which was a bit… *cringes*.
Drawbacks: I've stayed in similar types of accommodations at this price point, but the service here wasn't as professional by comparison; there's room for improvement. The facilities are a bit dated (TV, air conditioning, water dispenser), the curtains were inconvenient to use, and the bathrobes seemed old. The check-in process wasn't very clear, and the public hot spring was crowded and not very clean.
Overall, the good outweighs the bad. The environment and private hot spring are big plusses, making it suitable for a relaxing getaway."

No. 4 of Scenic Hotels in Yangzhou"The room was spotless! The service was truly exceptional, unlike anything I've experienced before. Right when we arrived, someone helped us with our luggage. Considering we had seniors and children with us, they even upgraded our room type! The security guard at the entrance kindly pointed us to some great food spots. In other hotels, the mini-fridge drinks usually cost money, but to my surprise, not only were they free at Mercure, but there was also a thoughtful little note. 😊
The level of thoughtfulness here is truly unmatched! To ensure hygiene, they provided a bathtub liner, and all the cups were placed in a sterilizer cabinet.
All in all, we were extremely satisfied! The kids are already begging to come back next time."

In the Qing Dynasty's literary circle, there were not many people who could establish a school or a sect. Ruan Yuan from Jiangsu Province was one of them. Ruan Yuan's ancestral home was in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province. He was born in a family of officials in Yangzhou in the 29th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign. His grandfather was a military scholar and served as a general in Hunan. His father entered the imperial academy at a young age and studied "Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals", becoming a master of classical prose. His mother, Lin, also came from an official family and was well-versed in poetry and literature, with good cultivation. Growing up in such a family, Ruan Yuan was influenced by his family's learning from an early age and gradually became a renowned talent in both literature and martial arts. At the age of 25, Ruan Yuan passed the imperial examination and entered the officialdom. Ruan Yuan not only held high positions but was also a staunch guardian of Yangzhou's culture. He compiled "Jingji Zanggu" and edited and printed "Thirteen Classics with Commentaries and Sub-commentaries", his cultural achievements shining like stars in Yangzhou's cultural heritage.
Mr. Ruan Yuan dedicated his life to cultural inheritance and academic research. The "Jingji Zanggu" he compiled collected the essence of ancient annotations and interpretations, providing an important basis for later generations to study classics. The "Thirteen Classics with Commentaries and Sub-commentaries" he edited and printed, with its rigorous academic attitude in correcting classics, became an important model for the study of classics. The "Huangqing Jingjie" he compiled and printed was a comprehensive collection of Qing Dynasty's research on classics.
