Kunming Hotels with Pools

The bed was too soft, and the TV was overly complicated. When I called the front desk at night about an issue, they said they'd contact engineering but never followed up. A simple 'engineering is off duty' or something similar would have been helpful. The hairdryer is quite old and could use an upgrade. On the positive side, the room was spacious, and the shower had excellent water pressure – that's a plus! So, a mix of good and bad. In such a competitive market, I think attention to detail is crucial. At 500-600 yuan, this hotel is considered upper-mid-range in Kunming, especially being near the airport, though its location isn't convenient for anything else.

This is a really great hotel. Both the room facilities and the hotel amenities are excellent, and the breakfast is good too. The pool is very clean and beautiful. I participated in both the yoga and meditation classes, and I highly recommend them. It was a perfect start to my trip. Yuyuan Garden is right across the street. I suggest going for a walk there in the morning before the tourists arrive; it's very peaceful. Given all the services the hotel offers, the price offers incredibly good value for money. The only thing that needs improvement is the complimentary afternoon tea; it didn't come with any tea or coffee, just a plate of fruits and pastries that seemed like they belonged to breakfast. That was a bit disappointing.

The apartment is great and the lady who took care of us answered promptly to our requests, so it's a great option if you want to feel like you're actual living in Kunming, instead of just being a guest in a hotel. The only minor issues is that there seem to be some stains in the ground that should be cleaned more thoroughly, and also the wok that we were offered to cook had a lot of burnt oil on the bottom, so the moment we put it on the hob it started to burn and stink. We gave up on cooking because we didn't want to have any accident or fire (incidentally, someone else triggered the fire alarm on our last night). We later asked for a small pot to boil the eggs we had bought and that small pot was great, so I think more care should be put on the cooking utensils offered to the guests. If it weren't for those small things, I'd have nothing to say but good things, so I hope this feedback can help this great hotel become perfect haha. Thanks for all your help and kindness, 阿姨！

The hotel is conveniently located near Kunming Railway Station and has its own dedicated parking lot, which is quite rare in such a bustling area. We arrived quite late, and the hotel kindly upgraded our family to a better room. They also thoughtfully informed us about their supper service, which was a true lifesaver after a long day of travel. Kunming's weather is quite dry, and the hotel has thoughtfully placed water bottles at every elevator entrance, along with many small, thoughtful amenities for guests to take. At the entrance to the breakfast area, there are also self-service travel guides, which is a lovely touch!

Exiting the hotel and turning left, walking down the slope past a traffic light, it's less than a five-minute walk to the east gate of Cuihu Lake – super convenient! The front desk staff were very welcoming, offering freshly made flower cakes upon check-in, and there were welcome fruits in the room. The twin room was clean and spacious, with a separate wet and dry area, and a powerful shower. The room curtains were quite thick, which is great for light sleepers. From the window, you could even catch a glimpse of Cuihu Lake, which was a pleasant surprise. Many of Kunming's important attractions are located around Cuihu Lake, making it very easy to explore. There are also plenty of dining options nearby – I loved it! I stayed for three days, went for a five-kilometer run around Cuihu Lake, and visited the Zhuanxin Farmers' Market, Yunnan University, Southwest Associated University, and the old streets. Unfortunately, I went on a Monday, so several memorial halls were closed, which was a shame. Overall, apart from the hotel breakfast needing some improvement in food quality, the other services and room size were excellent. In particular, the hotel offers great value for money and is definitely worth revisiting!

My stay at Kunming Jia Hua Plaza Hotel was excellent overall. The hotel's location is fantastic, with convenient transportation and easy access to attractions and dining options. The front desk staff were very welcoming and efficient with check-in and check-out, and all the staff were friendly. The room was clean and tidy. Despite the hotel being over 20 years old, the facilities are well-maintained, and the bedding was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The hotel environment is generally quiet, making it a suitable choice for a stay while exploring Kunming. The breakfast offered a good variety of dishes and tasted great. Overall, I was very satisfied with the location, service, and the entire stay. It offers good value for money, and I would consider staying here again on my next visit to Kunming.

Traveling with kids, we stopped in Kunming for a night on our way back from Fuxian Lake and chose this hot spring hotel. The hotel was clean, the service was great, and we really enjoyed the water park and hot springs – it was so relaxing and perfect for families with children. Highly recommend for family trips!

Back in Kunming that evening, we skipped the queues and enjoyed the top-rated braised chicken feet barbecue. The overly friendly and enthusiastic landlady, who was almost prone to swearing, provided a wonderful final dinner for us, who were starving after a long day. Finally, we returned to our last resting place – a super luxurious mansion with an entrance garden, swimming pool, sauna, tea room, gym, entertainment room… Rangrang's carefully selected homestays truly made this trip a perfect ending! The exhausting part was that I had to cut my vacation short by a day for work, getting up at 5 am to catch my flight. The result was exactly the same as years ago when I returned to work after jet lag – I overslept the next day, hahaha! Just like in that dream.

Overall, the hotel was great – a true all-in-one spot for dining, entertainment, and relaxation. It’s perfect for spending a few days unwinding. The facilities like the pool and gym were excellent. Everything you need is right here! Plus, the three meals a day offered by the hotel were quite tasty. On a different note, I needed to arrange dinner for my family and called twice in advance to book a restaurant. The front desk said the F&B department would contact me, but they never did, even after I checked out… a bit frustrating. When I checked in, the front desk told me our standard room was on the first floor. I acknowledged it, and then they repeated it, “first floor, okay?” I didn't quite understand why they emphasized it twice. It wasn’t until I got to the room that I realized the cafe’s outdoor terrace offers a direct view into the room. (The front desk could have just said that directly instead of being so vague; how would I know, being a first-time guest?) Three areas for improvement: 1. The non-slip mat in the shower was very dirty. 2. The coordination among the F&B staff needs to be better. 3. The front desk should be more direct. Repeating that the standard room was on the first floor in such a roundabout way completely confused me as a first-time visitor about what they were trying to convey!

The JEN Hotel by Shangri-La in Kunming boasts an excellent location, very close to Kunming Old Street, and super convenient for subway travel. The hotel's design is young and trendy, incorporating many local Yunnan elements, creating a great atmosphere. The rooms are clean and tidy, with comfortable bedding and thoughtful details like direct drinking water and wireless charging. Breakfast offers a rich variety, including authentic Yunnan rice noodles. Guests can also enjoy a large shared gym and a heated swimming pool. The front desk service is professional and polite, and check-in was efficient. For anyone visiting Kunming, staying here makes getting around hassle-free, with guaranteed quality. Highly recommended.
