Guest UserI had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. They offer many complimentary items and services such as free breakfast, iron, washing machines, toothbrush and toothpaste, hair dryer, umbrella, free bicycle rental, and even a shared chiller for guests to use.
One extra bonus is that they also provide motorbike rental services, which was very convenient.
The free breakfast was surprisingly delicious even though it was complimentary. They also offered both spicy and non-spicy options, so guests can choose according to their preference.
Overall, this is a very nice hotel with excellent hospitality and facilities. I would definitely give this hotel 100 marks and highly recommend it to others.

BingTaoI had an excellent stay at G Hotel Gurney in the Executive Suite. The suite was spacious, modern, and beautifully maintained, with a comfortable bed and a great view. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Penang.
The hotel’s location is fantastic, right next to Gurney Plaza and within walking distance of many popular eateries. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to assist, making the entire stay even more enjoyable.
The Executive Lounge was a great addition, offering a quiet and comfortable space to unwind with complimentary refreshments. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection of local and international dishes.
Overall, everything from the room quality to the service exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose G Hotel Gurney again on my next visit to Penang and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay.

LeleeThe entire hotel features British colonial-style architecture, with very spacious and well-designed rooms.
However, the service was perfunctory. During my three-day stay, despite frequent comings and goings, the doormen were rarely at the entrance. Even when they were, they generally didn't bother to open the door and looked expressionless. I believe this falls short of the service standards expected from a hotel of this price point. The turndown service was also a disaster; the duvet was wrinkled, the slippers weren't properly placed, and my charging cable was simply tossed onto the bed. Housekeeping was also very poor. On the second day, the toothbrush wasn't neatly arranged but rather haphazardly placed on the vanity. However, the housekeeping staff on the third day did a proper job of organizing the countertop. The toothbrush provided was a cheap, hard, brittle plastic one, typical of a budget guesthouse, and very unpleasant to use. Other amenities were acceptable.
Overall, the hotel's biggest selling points are likely its scenery, historical significance, and location. Don't expect much from the service.

lwycccccFirst time in Penang, and I saw this hotel which just opened this year. It looked really nice inside, so I booked a stay. As soon as I entered the lobby, I was greeted by a wonderfully fragrant aroma. The staff were all super smiley and nice; they immediately found someone to help me. The room was beautiful, and the bathroom was huge. The TV could connect to YouTube and Netflix, and they even provided a complimentary snack pack and a sleep spray. Plus, there's a water dispenser on each floor, which is super thoughtful. The view from the room was also stunning, overlooking the entire Georgetown area. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Penang!

Chee PNThe hotel is strategically located within walking distance of Penang's UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as a wide variety of local eateries and cafés. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with a relaxing ambience that made for a pleasant stay. A unique highlight of the hotel is the George Museum, which is housed within the property and showcases Penang's rich history. Each floor features a different themed gallery, making it an interesting experience to explore during the stay. Overall, it is an excellent choice for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and a touch of Penang's heritage.

Alading-shendengOverall, it's pretty good and offers good value for money.
Transportation: You can take a taxi to the Old Town or walk for 20 minutes. The hotel's area is relatively quiet and tidy. As an aside, I struggled with the accommodation area for a long time before my trip. I'm fine with the OZO area, but if I were to go again, I personally would prefer the Gurney Bay area. The atmosphere and cleanliness are much better there. Many parts of the Old Town are too old and chaotic.
Cleanliness was satisfactory, even exceeding expectations. For service, I didn't encounter any Mandarin-speaking staff, but everyone was very friendly.
Facilities: The rooftop pool has an excellent view directly facing the sea. It was wonderful to relax there every day. The breakfast restaurant also has a good view, and while the variety isn't huge, it's sufficient. In-room facilities are standard for a business hotel. I actually found it very convenient to get water from the water dispenser on my floor.
There are two downsides: 1. The towels are very old and should be replaced; I used my own the entire time. 2. For some unknown reason, the Wi-Fi was extremely poor during my stay. My World Cup viewing corner's internet TV was almost unusable due to buffering. For tourists, poor internet is a significant issue.

Ching Sze Cindy ChiuThis is one of the best places I have stayed in SE Asia! The shophouses are cute and spacious (we stayed in Indian Shophouse and our parents stayed in another king’s size bedroom), the aesthetics inside the room and especially in the lobby/ afternoon tea area/ breakfast cafe is incredible and nostalgic. Great services from the staff and so friendly that you feel you are being taken good care of. Also got the cutest cats too! The location is unbeatable - we can walk to everywhere in Georgetown and to the Esplanade with ease. Highly recommended for travelers to stay here!

Guest UserI stay here for only 1 night, 2 nights before i’m at other hotel somewhere in Seberang Jaya, so i will compare with the previous one that have higher rate per night then this despite the location it’s almost out of nowhere.
Compare from my previous stay, this one have amenities that quite Complete, but they just give you 1 for each items despite I’m 2 people. like 1 Brush, 1 Shaves, the body soap and shampoo it’s really small amount, the mineral water just 2x600ml. Well i don’t really know it’s possible to ask more or not, but there’s no information about it and since more at the outside, so im wouldn’t wasting my time to asked it.
The jacuzzi itself seems not available anymore, i don’t know are we able to use it or not, no information about it at all, bit disappointed.
the room it self quite small, feels like in tokyo lodging, the theme inside it’s also dark burgundy that makes the feels more narrowed. the cleanest is good, totally fine for me, not perfect but there’s no such things that bothering me about the cleanest.
The Bathroom quire unique, they have a small bucket and ladle with small chair, it’s very unique and the chair it’s really a game changer, i love it. But it would be better if only it have more partition like a curtain between bathroom and Toilet so the water doesn’t leak out.
The bed it’s comfortable, the pillow it’s also comfortable, i got the room with a view of others building wall, well i got what i’ve got.
Overall, for the price that i got, location that less then 500m from terminal Komtar timur, a lot of Restaurant arround, walkable to penang street art, Jettys, etc. this is really worth if u just find a good hotel for comfortable sleep and easy to get around.
This stay 8.7/10 for this one night, would go back if it’s 1 night stay, i hope it would be better next time.

Russ817Totally enjoyed my staycation here! The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. I loved how cold the air conditioning was, the bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious. The location is also very strategic, with plenty of local food options just a few minutes away. Would definitely stay here again ☺️

Guest UserRevisiting Penang this year, I chose to stay at Cititel Express again. The hotel had already arranged for early check-in via email, which I found very thoughtful and the service was perfect!
Our family booked three rooms, and all of them were still clean and hygienic. Most importantly, there were no strange odors in the rooms. The bed linen and duvet covers were spotless with no dirty marks, and the air conditioning was excellent. The pool was even cleaner and more hygienic than last year. I also noticed many maintenance staff doing renovation and inspection work, which made me feel that the hotel management is excellent. Many new restaurants have opened near the hotel, reachable by foot without needing a car. A taxi from the airport to the hotel takes only about half an hour, which is very convenient. Next time we visit Penang, this hotel will still be our top choice!
