Scenic Hotels in Dali City

"We had a bit of a disappointing experience at the Jiatu Scenic Hotel. The room listing states ‘lake view’ so we booked that room, however, it turns out that this room does not face the lake and has an internal car par window instead. The listing photos conveniently have the net curtains of the windows drawn so you can’t see this from the inside photos. The receptionist insisted the Trip.com listing was accurate because the hotel was near the lake and therefore a ‘lake view’. They would not change us to a room with the lake view that we believed we booked, despite having multiple lake-view rooms available and us checking in at 10.30pm. They insisted the only way we could change the room was to cancel our booking (and incur a 50% cancellation fee) and rebook the more expensive ‘sea-view’ room instead. We contacted Trip.com who spoke to the hotel also but they were unwilling to help or move us, despite the room not matching the listing description. Trip themselves were very helpful and offered us some compensation. In the end we stayed in the room we’d booked with no lake view. The room itself was lovely and spacious, had storage options and was clean and tidy. If we’d booked knowing this didn’t have a lake view then it would have been perfect! The location is near the station which is great if you’re there for one night, however we were there for 2 nights and had to travel 40 minutes to get to Dali Old Town or the 28 bends ecological corridor, so personally if I were to come to Dali again I would choose a hotel in that location instead. It is worth noting that the hotel is across the road from the lake, so you can see cars and the road even in the lakeside view rooms."

"This hotel boasts an excellent location, just a few minutes' walk from the South Gate of the ancient city, surrounded by a food street. Taxis and food delivery services are easily accessible. The rooms are comfortable, and the bedding is clean and just right. I booked two rooms, and both mine and my children's were great; the bedding wasn't damp at all and felt very comfortable. The hotel's interior environment is fantastic, and they even provide free clothes for photo ops – my family was taking pictures until past 10 PM on our check-in night. The breakfast is exquisite, and the taste perfectly suited for someone from northern China like me; I'd have two bowls of rice noodles every day until I was stuffed! Finally, the staff's service attitude and enthusiasm were exceptionally good and diligent. This hotel is highly recommended."

"We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. What stood out most was the excellent service. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and responsive to our requests, always ready to assist with a smile. The location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and amenities. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely stay here again. "Location: Situated right inside Dali Ancient Town, making it super convenient for sightseeing and daily life. Facilities: The entire hotel is exquisitely decorated. The rooms are spacious and clean. I stayed in a top-floor room with a view, and the scenery was quite stunning. Hygiene: The whole hotel is very clean; you can stay with peace of mind. Environment: It has an elegant and fresh ancient charm style. There are also three super cute cats: two silver tabbies and one Russian Blue. The silver tabbies are very friendly and love to be petted and held – super adorable! The Russian Blue is a bit less affectionate, but if you pet her just right, you can hold her too. Service: Absolutely top-notch service! You don't even need to plan your trip to Dali, the owner can help with everything. This is by far the best hotel service I've ever encountered. The owner's service philosophy is truly commendable. If you're coming to Dali, just pick this hotel – you can't go wrong!"

"The Honglongjing branch in Dali Ancient City is absolutely amazing! 📍 The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Honglongjing Pedestrian Street. Step outside and you're greeted by a gently flowing stream, and you can look up to see the Cangshan mountains. It's just a few minutes' walk to Fuxing Road, the main street, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing and dining. 🏡 The ambiance is perfect! The Bai ethnic architectural style blends seamlessly with modern design. The courtyard with its flowing water, flagstone paths, and red lanterns makes every photo Instagram-worthy. At night, when the lights come on, the atmosphere is simply magical, giving off a 'Spirited Away' kind of dreaminess. 💁 The service is incredibly thoughtful! The staff are warm and professional, proactively offering tips on nearby attractions and local delicacies. Their attention to detail really shines through, like providing local snacks and complimentary tea. 🍽️ The overall experience is fantastic! Whether it's the comfortable rooms, the aromatic coffee at the cafe, or the authentic Bai cuisine at the restaurant, everything leaves a lasting impression. It offers excellent value for money. I'll definitely be back to Dali and stay here again next time! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟"

"We will be back! This felt like a home away from home, except it had such a wonderful view of the lake. The host was super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, close to the railway station, which was very handy for us as we came over from Kunming and then went back. You're close to many of the central places and with DiDi taxi, it's super easy to get around from here. We will for sure book here again; we're already planning a visit back."

"The room was clean and tidy. It was really cold in Dali during the May Day holiday due to the rain, but luckily the air conditioning had a heating function, which was great! It's very close to the South Gate of Dali Ancient City, about a four-minute walk. The owner was incredibly warm and friendly, helping us carry our luggage both ways. When we left, they even gave us flower cakes!"

"Better than expected value for money!!! The environment is exactly like the pictures. I loved it so much I stayed for several days in a row. I was still reluctant to leave. Friends who want to see the sea must choose this place. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer direct views of Erhai Lake, and the sunset is especially beautiful. The interior facilities are of high quality. The atmosphere is comfortable. It's especially, especially suitable for travelers who want to experience Dali's natural scenery firsthand while enjoying a comfortable life. 😎😎😎 It's so comfortable here I almost don't want to go out."

"Stayed for 3 night and I have to say this is one of the best homestay I stayed in China. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and nice! Got a free upgrade as well. Homestay is walking distance ti the south gate of Dali Ancient city.Breakfast, tea time and even welcome fruits platter. The mi xian(noodle) is seriously good and light. The two cuties Shiyi & Huanxi is just so cute. I would definitely come back here again whenever I dropped by Dali."

"This guesthouse was a real gem I discovered during my Dali trip! The owner, a fellow Shandong native, was incredibly warm and made the entire stay absolutely delightful. Choosing this lakeside guesthouse was the luckiest part of my Dali journey. Its location is impeccable, right by Erhai Lake and close to both Dali Ancient City and the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The guesthouse even offers electric scooter rentals, a one-stop solution for all your transportation needs. Upon checking in, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the owner was from Shandong, which instantly made me feel at home and incredibly relaxed, a true feeling of 'coming home' while traveling. Our rented electric scooter couldn't go directly to the lakeside, so the owner proactively sent us precise parking directions – such thoughtful and meticulous attention to detail! They also provided an extensive list of local culinary recommendations, meticulously planning out breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so we didn't have to do any research ourselves; our entire eating and entertainment experience was worry-free. We stayed in the 'Lotus Pond' room type, and it was a fantastic experience. The room was spacious, well-equipped, and had a huge floor-to-ceiling window facing Cangshan Mountain, offering healing and comfortable views of low, soft clouds. The cleanliness was impeccable, making for a highly comfortable stay. The most heartwarming surprise was at checkout: the owner thoughtfully gave each of us a Dali refrigerator magnet – a small gift filled with genuine sincerity. Whether it was the location, the amenities, or the human touch, this guesthouse far exceeded my expectations. It's my top choice for Dali, highly recommended, and I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit!"
