"I booked this room for my elderly parents. I messaged them on WeChat in advance, and the hotel staff were incredibly accommodating. My parents aren't very familiar with travel routes, so a big thanks to the front desk ladies for helping them with recommendations for places to visit. The hotel is very close to the subway station, which made it super convenient to get everywhere. The value for money was also excellent. My family had a wonderful time and a very comfortable stay. Next time we have a chance to visit Hangzhou with family, we will definitely choose this hotel again. The service was absolutely fantastic! 👍👍"
The Redstar Culture Hotel (Hongxing Wenhua Dasha) is an elegant hotel located on the eastern section of West Lake Avenue. The hotel is within walking West Lake, Hangzhou's most popular attraction. There are a variety of beautifully-furnished rooms, some of which offer spectacular views over West Lake. Business, Eye Hospital of Zhejiang University ,executive and non-smoking floors are available. When it comes to dining, there are both Chinese and Western restaurants on the first and second floor of this Hangzhou hotel. For business travelers, the hotel has a business center and a wide selection of meeting and conference rooms.During their spare time, guests can play chess or poker, exercise in the gym, or melt away stress by getting a massage.
"The location was great and the hotel has all the amenities expected of a 4-star hotel. Rooms are spacious, however it does look a bit dated compared to other hotels in the same category. The breakfast is top tier, lots of selection and the dining room is large.
The biggest complaint I have is that the hotel smells heavily of cigarettes. The windows don't open and the floors are carpeted so the smell lingers. Although this is a none smoking hotel, guests will ignore the signs and smoke in the hallways. My mom and I both started feeling unwell does to poor ventilation in our room after the first night. We requested to switch rooms and the receptionist arranged a different room for us immediately.
Another thing to note is that large tour groups also stay at this hotel. The second morning, we arrived for breakfast right at the beginning, however most of the food was already taken by a large tour group who came down a few minutes earlier. It was very noisy and messy, unlike the first morning, which was very calm with plenty of food options."

"Everything was pretty good. They offered afternoon tea (which made up for the non-complimentary minibar) and a simple dinner (I only looked at it once, didn't eat, it was crowded with limited, simple options). Breakfast was delicious, and the scenery was beautiful.
**Environment:** The hotel is surrounded by lush greenery. Taking a stroll along the Qiantang River was incredibly refreshing.

GGuest UserPros: Jojo, our butler, provided excellent service, and the travel photography was great – the photographer was very dedicated.
Cons:
1. Breakfast options were limited, and items were frequently missing. The coffee machine was terrible, producing a watery, tasteless drink.
2. The paid activities, especially the boat tour and farm visit, were very poor quality. An older staff member had a bad attitude and kept rushing us, saying other guests were waiting. Including the walk to the vegetable garden, we only spent about 15 minutes picking. For the boat tour, we had to insist just to get a short drift on the lake; initially, they claimed it was too windy to paddle. It was a really frustrating experience.
Overall, apart from the butler, the service from other staff members was very mediocre. I've also seen complaints on social media about their lacking 'soft services.' I'd suggest they learn from Naked Group; I've visited Naked Castle and Naked Retreats several times, and their complimentary services are consistently high-quality, with exceptionally enthusiastic staff.
GGuest UserThe room features Xiaomi smart voice control. The service from Wangyue was great; I didn't have to worry about losing my room card because I could use facial recognition for check-in, which was very convenient and quick. The lobby is spacious and bright. The room has a smart toilet and a large bathtub, and facial cleanser, lotion, and cream are all provided free of charge. Toiletries are complete. You can contact Wangyue to book your room.

GGuest UserThe hotel is small but exquisite, with a serene and elegant Japanese Zen garden. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the private hot spring baths are wonderfully relaxing and therapeutic. The amenities are refined and comprehensive. The butler service is thoughtful and attentive, making the check-in experience feel truly special. The food is fresh and delicious, and the 'nine-grid' breakfast is quite unique.
ZZitengzixiaoXianghu Xiaoyao Manor | A Poetic Retreat Amidst Scenic Beauty
My family and I spent the weekend at Xianghu Xiaoyao Manor, and the experience was nothing short of perfect. I just had to share it! The hotel's setting is undoubtedly its biggest highlight—perched on the shores of Xianghu Lake, it blends traditional white walls and black tiles with modern design. Open the window and you're greeted by lush greenery. Mornings offer misty lake views, and evenings are painted with sunset hues reflecting on the water. Strolling through the grounds feels like being in a traditional Chinese ink wash painting, so serene and elegant that all your worries melt away.
The room was an even bigger surprise. We stayed in a Xiaoyao Suite, where the oversized floor-to-ceiling windows framed the lake and mountain scenery like a living masterpiece. The interior design was sophisticated and grand, the bedding was incredibly soft and skin-friendly, and the pillows offered just the right support, ensuring a great night's sleep. Every detail spoke of quality, from the toiletries to the smart amenities, all impeccable.
The service experience also deserves special mention. From the gentle and professional explanation by the front desk staff during check-in, to the prompt response of housekeeping, and the restaurant staff who refilled our water and inquired about our meal preferences—every interaction made us feel truly cared for. A special shout-out to the Shuiyang Chinese Restaurant! We ordered dishes like Sister Song's Fish Broth and Kung Pao Shrimp Balls, and each dish perfectly showcased the essence of Hangzhou cuisine. Dining here was an absolute delight.
Practical tips: I recommend choosing a lake-view room; watching Xianghu Lake shrouded in morning mist is incredibly therapeutic. For a window seat at Shuiyang Chinese Restaurant, make sure to book in advance. The hotel surroundings are perfect for cycling or leisurely walks. All in all, whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or simply an escape from the city bustle, this place is an excellent choice. We will definitely be back!

Aahlin56Overall is a pleasant stay but compared to Suzhou Hampton, the location in Hangzhou is quite far from city and do not have the AI chatbot like in Suzhou which is useful to check the status of the laundry machines.

CCeciliaOverall, it was good and felt like a home away from home. There are no twin-bed rooms with full lake views, so we had to book a partial lake view room. The air conditioning in the room seemed a bit weak; even in May, we had to set it to maximum fan speed and the lowest temperature to feel comfortable. I wonder how it will cope in the peak summer. The breakfast restaurant's food quality and service need some improvement. The waitstaff looked unhappy, as if they were dreading their shift. Although the restaurant opens at 7 AM, steamed dim sum wasn't brought out until 7:20 AM. Guests who had to catch early trains couldn't enjoy hot buns and coarse grains. The coffee machine was broken, and the mini wontons were overcooked. I hope breakfast can be more diverse and less formulaic, so guests staying two nights or more can try different dishes each day.

SShuangshuangxiaomayiXixi Wetland in May is absolutely breathtaking, like a fairyland. We spent the weekend at the Banyan Tree, a classic luxury hotel, and stepping into the lobby felt like entering a Jiangnan fairytale! Our butler, Olive, provided exceptional service; she contacted us before arrival with a warm greeting and thoughtfully upgraded our room. The room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with a well-designed layout and classical aesthetics. Enjoying tea on the balcony while admiring the view was incredibly pleasant! The charm of the details was evident everywhere, from the tea sets and welcome fruit to the exquisite bookmarks and little gift of pastries. All the staff were incredibly warm and polite. The electric buggy service for short transfers was very convenient. Breakfast was refined, rich, and delicious. After breakfast, we took a lovely stroll around the hotel, watching the fish and ducks play in the water. We had a wonderful holiday!
GGuest UserThis hotel is my top choice when traveling to Hangzhou. The lake-view rooms offer a panoramic view of West Lake. The location is incredibly convenient for getting around, and the second floor connects directly to a mall, making dining, entertainment, and shopping easily accessible. The decor and overall ambiance are tranquil and elegant, creating a particularly comfortable living atmosphere. The room was well-organized and spacious, impeccably clean, and fully equipped with all the necessary amenities for daily living. On the second day, it rained, and umbrellas were thoughtfully placed outside our door in advance! Xenia, Emma, and Clara were very welcoming, Stormi was steady and meticulous in their work, and Eva was friendly and thorough during check-out. The entire stay was warm and reassuring.

Jj4021The room is spacious, with a sofa and a desk, which is perfect for business trips. The service is enthusiastic, and the breakfast is rich. There's also a self-service washing machine. It's only a ten-minute walk from the East Exit of the East Station, which is very convenient.

Very Good
GGuest UserBrought my husband here to celebrate his birthday. Hotel was immaculate from start to finish. Staff here are incredibly attentive and I didn’t even have to remind the hotel about the birthday arrangement - they handled everything from the single comment I left on the trip booking. Special thanks to Ms Harper Du Qian Qian who helped us coordinate everything. Also proactively reminding us to bring/take umbrellas from front desk on a rainy day.
Room was clean and super comfortable and the location is probably what you pay the premium for. Definitely worth a night or two to get your shopping done. Breakfast was amazing and the food offered was expansive from both local and international cuisines!
Will be back to Hangzhou and here again.
