Taipei Hotels with Balcony

Really solid stay at the DoubleTree Zhongshan. The warm cookie at check-in sounds like a gimmick but after a long flight it actually hits different 😂 Location is the biggest win about 5 mins walk to Zhongshan MRT station, and the area around it is full of cafes and small shops. Ximending and Taipei Main Station are just a couple of stops away, super convenient without being in the middle of the chaos. Room was clean and modern, not the biggest but well laid out, and the bed was really comfortable. Bathroom had a proper walk-in shower with good water pressure. City view from my floor was nice at night. Staff spoke good English and were genuinely helpful asked for restaurant recommendations and got proper local suggestions instead of the usual tourist spots. Breakfast had a good mix of ********* and Western food, the congee and dan bing were my go-to every morning. Only minor gripe is the gym is on the smaller side, but everything else more than made up for it. Would happily stay here again next time in Taipei.

1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. Overall, it was a very good stay at the hotel. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Ximending and the MRT, making it very convenient for getting around. Although the hotel is tucked away in a small alley, the surrounding area is lively with plenty of shops nearby. The highlight of the stay was definitely the bed and pillows, which were exceptionally comfortable and made for a great night’s sleep. My choice for the next visit.

Pros: The environment nearby is nice. It is next to the station and the night market so it is easy to grab food at night. They also have people sitting in the counter in the lobby even in 0200 am, just in case you need any service at night. The room is very dark after you close all the lights and curtains, good for sleep. Oh and the free snacks, tea, and coffee is good too. I didn't order but there is also souveniors that you can order and they will sent to the hotel tmr, and Taiwan beers that the packaging looks great. They will also help you to keep the luggage before check in and after check out if you need to kill some time before getting the plane, there is a small mall nearby. Cons: It is wet in Taiwan and the wall looks moldy (But the bed feels ok). The TV in the room has nearly no sound (Well maybe that's the way to stop people from distrubing others?). Overall, I enjoy the trip and thr service.

The front desk staff were very kind, and the atmosphere was lovely, making for a very comfortable stay. The air conditioning temperature control wasn't working well, so it was a bit cold, but I felt like they would have responded immediately if I had mentioned it (I didn't spend much time in the room, so I didn't end up asking). Thank you for everything. I would love to stay here again.

Very trendy hotel in a good location. Not far from main street where there are lots of convenience stores and restaurants. Hotel provides free mini bar and happy hour in the evening. There are free snacks, water and coffee available on each floor which is great.  

Front desk staff were not particularly helpful or friendly. Information from different staff was not consistent. Pool is closed every Monday and Tuesday but not well sign posted and strange for summer. Maybe see how bigger hotels maintain pools without closing 2 days a week. Towels in rooms not always replaced consistently, sometimes smaller ones are not replaced. It’s a functional hotel a short walk from Shilin night market and pretty much across the street from Jiantan MRT. Ok if you’re looking for a basic hotel but don’t expect good feels.

Best hotel i have ever stayed in. My sister & i chose Illume because the hotel is really close to metro and right in front of Taipei Arena so we could go to concert by walking 😆 we will definitely stay here again when we come back for our next family trip ✨️

The hotel is very spacious a bit further from most of the tourist attractions but it is very convenient to travel to other Spaces by Uber or taxi and the space is very large with a jacuzzi very clean spacious I would say allow a working space for working in the hotel and more than 300 square feet

Fantastic stay! The environment was spotless and tidy, and the common areas were cozy and welcoming. My bed was also very clean. The staff were warm, friendly, and always happy to help. The location is super convenient, with restaurants and public transport nearby. I met so many travelers from different places, and the atmosphere was relaxed and free-spirited. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
